15 years using Final Cut and thanks to your channel i am learning really important new things. Thanks!!!!
Hell ya dude! That makes me beyond happy to hear đđŒ thank YOU for letting me know that!
Same here!!
Are you a video editor? How did you use FCP for 15 years? What you did?
@@pappu4539 I start in the Univertsity, then i work as freelance, then i work in a TV channel and some productions companies, and 9 years ago i start my own drone buissiness in many cases i edit the video for the client, also i do a lot of content in CZcams. :)
Thanks!
Holy smokes, John! I know we share the same name, but wow đ€© Thank you so so much, my friend!
Most useful FCPX video I have seen in a long time. Great job, my compliments. Subscribing now ;-) and if thereâs a link to buy you a coffee Iâm more than happy to do so. All the best from the Netherlands.
Oh wow! Such awesome feedback to hear, Michael! Thank you so much! đ There's something on youtube called 'Super Thanks'. It's right below the video and allows you to make a donation of any amount to support the creator. I greatly appreciate you offering that đ please don't feel obliged to. Cheers from Indonesia, my friend!
BRUHHHHH!! That first one.. đ Jesus man! You've just ANSWERED a ton of questions Ive been having when I edit! AMAZING VID man. THANK YOU!!!
Well hell yaaaaa Raul đ€ I'm stoked to hear that brotha! Thanks for watching and taking the time to let me know you enjoyed it đ
I literally started laughing out loud because crying was not an option :D Especially the one with the Tilde key is a life changer, I can't count how often I messed up my timeline. Thank you so much for all these pro tipps, way better than all the other vids I've seen on this topic!
Haha I got you, my friend! I'm stoked to hear that I was able to pass along some useful tips to help you flourish as an editor đȘđŒ Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
This may be best FCPX tips video ever. Well done.
Well thatâs some damn amazing feedback to hear đđŒ Thanks so much Chris!
Awesome Tips Dylan - sharing this out on our community tab. Well done
Holy smokes đ I appreciate it more than you know, Justin đđŒ thank you so much!
great tips! đđ
Thank you!
Love how you put your own spin on the mKBHD pack Dylan! Definitely gave me some inspiration for my next video!
I freaking love that pack brotha. Itâs fresh and modern and thereâs so much good stuff in it. Glad I could offer some inspiration đ€đŒ
@@dylanjohndickerson Hi Dylan, I can only echo Jeff's words (who by the way is another huge source of inspiration for me) These were some amazing hecks and definitly shaves off quite some time from my next edit. Loved the Shift+? tip. Awesome work, thanks a lotđ
@@SmartMoneywithKai That makes me stoked to hear, Kai đ€đŒ Glad I could pass on some useful info. Shift and Question mark is really clutch and when customizing it to just the question mark key, it makes for some quick and easy playback. Thanks for letting me know you liked the video!
Yep, I was doing it wrong. Snapshot tip is a game changer. Thanks Dylanđ
That it is my friend! Thanks for watching đ
Just wow!!!!!!! I been looking at a lot of people and I learn much more in the 4 back to back videos Iâve been watching.. thanks!!!!! That audio thing is genius đ
Happy to help đ Have you seen part 2? czcams.com/video/QyKPzFD3xF0/video.htmlsi=ZGeYOqcpEiHtgpY8
Love this thank you!
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching, Maxi đ
I donât leave comments super often but this has made editing so much more enjoyable. Is still my blade to b. Delete is space. And play from head is N. Iâve been editing for 3 years and never knew this lmao Thank you so much for the amazing video. Liked. Subbed.
You should start leaving comments more often! đ I enjoy hearing what people have to say. That makes me very happy to hear that I was able to shed some light on a few things. Have you seen part 2 of this video by chance? You may like that as well đ czcams.com/video/QyKPzFD3xF0/video.html
Killer tips Dylan, thank you! Saving presets, getting all that sound in the library, background render off, shift ?, and those killer organization tips are game changers for me đ
Dope Jason! I'm glad that I was able to teach you a thing or two brotha đ€
That was great. Thanks!
Youâre welcome Andrew!
Nice ⊠keep âem coming
Thanks Darren, will do!
What a killer video. The first one alone was enough for me to sub. Thanks!
Well hell ya! Thanks a ton my dude đ€đŒ
Top tier tips! I've been using FCPX for many years but love how the learning never stops. The "~'" is a real game changer.
I totally agree! The magnetic timeline is of course the default in FCP and one reason why it's so fast, but obviously there are times when you'd like to disengage it. The "~'" key is the savior in that instance. Thanks for watching, my friend!
Awesome tips! Subscribed!
Thanks so much for the sub! đ
Solid info, thank you
You're very welcome! đ
Wow ⊠I never comment but wow awesome video, I actually learned a lot ! Thank you, youâre awesome
You should comment more, brotha! I'm always down to chat in the comments. That makes me stoked to hear you enjoyed it đ€ Any particular video topic you'd like to see next?
Good to know about snapshots, Dylan. I never thought about dupes of compound clips and multicam clips inheriting the parent properties. Iâve always used duplicate project for versioning.
My pleasure, Kent. Ya definitely go with snapshots. I've definitely made the error of using duplicate projects and after a lot of editing in multicam clips, I sadly went back to some old versions to find that they had been changed as well.
Great tips man! Thanks
Thanks James! đ
Really epic video bro!
Thanks Ryan! đ
Worth mentioning that once you have a keyword collection, you can add clips to it by dragging and dropping. You can also add just ranges of a clip, so for example if youâre clipping up an interview you can select a range and drag it to a keyword collection called âclipsâ and you have a simple easy list of all your clips. Iâve been editing in Premiere all day and the media management is awful compared to FCP.
Great points, David! I just did a quick dive into some features, but you're right, there are so many more ways to organize your footage in FCP đ Without a doubt better than Premiere.
Ahh the â~â is a lifesaver when dealing with the magnetic timeline! Figured there had to be a better way. Thanks man!
Yes !
That it is Marshall! It helps out a whole bunch. Thanks for watching brotha đ€đŒ
Awesome tips, THANK YOU!!!
Youâre very welcome! Thanks for watching đđŒ
Well done! Thanks for sharing đđœđ„
Thanks for watching! đ
Friggin' awesome! Thanks for some new tricks and gently reminding us how great this software actually is.
Thank YOU John. I make these for the satisfaction of helping people out, completing projects, and my love for editing. I don't make much money off of them. You giving that Super Thanks gives me that extra push to keep continuing down the path I'm on. Thank you once again for your generosity đ
Holy Crap! I've watched countless tutorials over the years on fcpx, and this is by far the best one impho. Every single aspect I have had while editing was addressed in this one video. The attention to detail and explanation of everything was very well done too. 21.8k Subs right now, I bet you'll have 100k by the end of 2022. Great job on this and thank you....
Wowwzaaa đ Thank you so much! I can only hope. I don't foresee that happening, but I gotta keep up the grind and hope that it does. My goal for this year was 30k. Thanks for the kind words my friend đ
Great tips Dylan, thank you
Thanks Iago! đ
Thanks for the tips. Great video
My pleasure Guillermo! Thanks for watching!
My fav youtuber
đ I gotta say, that's a first...and it made my day. Thank you, Johan đ Any video topic you'd like to see in the future mate?
â@@dylanjohndickerson Hi dylan, I like all the topics you develop on this channel. I'm working as a filmmaker for 1 year and half and I've learnt so much thanks to your videos. Thanks you so much for that. Keep it that way, maybe a video about color grading mistakes and how to avoid them ( with color finale đ) or how to color grade a wedding or stuff like that .I wish you the best. Have a great day mate.đ
@@playjohskill You know what's funny, is I'm actually writing a script for a video called '5 Reasons Why Your Color Grades Suck' haha. You know what I have planned! haha. A color grading tutorial for wedding videos would be a solid idea as well. I'll keep the color grading tutorials coming :) I'm also creating a color grading course for Final Cut Pro and Color Finale users right now. I'm hoping to have it done by the end of the year, so I'll keep you updated! I wish you the best as well brotha đ Thanks so much for the support and enjoy your day!
Damn! First tutorial I've watched the last ~3 years where I literally found EVERYTHING super useful. Thanks a bunch! #NewFCPUser

Great tips!!
Glad you like them! Thanks for watching đđŒ
For all viewers from Germany: Use the ^ instead of the ~ for that Magnetic Timeline Magic ;-) (I'm still a rendering guy. Dunno why. It is the way I do it for 11 years. Maybe a Mandalorian thing: "Rendering your timeline. This is the way.")
This is the way đ I have to say it with you. Very true! You can put this key on whatever key you'd like. Only US keyboards have the tilde/grave key I believe.
Lift from story lineđ
