As an Australian, football fan I cried when we qualified for the round of 16. Everyone said we will come last and a lot of people said we couldn't even qualify for the world cup. We always go down fighting, it's the fighting spirit.
“The group of death” they called it
Happy for ya…. It’s great to see these big teams getting beat just shows they am beat able
@@Razzletazle 😂😂😂👏🏽
Australia should be very strong for the AFC Asian Cup in July 2023.
We thought the same after the 2006 world cup reaching round of 16 but completely disappointed at the 2007 Asian Cup
January 2024.
So they should be. The others are shockingly bad😂
@@exploreeverything963 yeah saudis only beat Argentina, Japan only beat Germany…it’s like they can’t even play!
Oh they’re gonna be favorites for that, especially because it’s the same stadiums and conditions
Congrats to the socceroo''s. Argentina will be a tough test but they lost to Saudi Arabia so they aren't invincible. Love to see this team shock the world
@@footballislife2145 nah hes right nothing to laugh at
@@krisxchirbas9503 lol
@@kdburner7356 kd like you as a player but just because Australia lost doesn't make this man's statement any less true. Argentina are not invincible.
@@footballislife2145 haha youre so childish. You laugh but fail to address this man's point. If I were you I would consider looking for a job around France because you clearly have too much time on your hands.
@@footballislife2145 I dont have time to respond to all comments instantaneously! It seems you do however, given that you've responded to my previous comment on the same day I made it. This is why I say you have to much time on your hands and that you should get a job. 😂😂😂
That's some impressive scene's to watch, one of the reasons I love football 💜☮️💙
Lies again? Kinky Sex Keratin Shampoo
Go Australia! 🇦🇺 I’m rooting for you..
Love from Qatar 🇶🇦
Bosnich is buzzin again
Every world cup the times of majority of the games in Australia seem to start around in the dead of night from midnight to dawn. Imagine if games were at a reasonable hour in Australia, like hours when people are usually awake. It would go a long way to promote the game which has been suffering greatly for promotion against other more publicised sports.
Haha it always used to be around June/July exams. I remember doing exams staying up all night watching all the games and then going back to exams again. . . .don't know who I passed
Australian rules football is the number one sport by a mile not even close but i love football/Soccer as well...Go Socceroos
To be fair, football has never been far off in terms of fan base and interest. FFA just needs to pull their fingers out and when/if they do, we will start to be consistently competitve. Too much infighting and egos and it hurt football development in Australia. Just look at the massive cult and passionate following behind NPL clubs like Blacktown, Heidelberg and South Melbourne. Genuine fan base and one of the largest, even rivaling some A League teams.
AFL is easily the best run organization and this round of 16 achievement gives the current FFA board the opportunity to take advantage and learn from past mistakes. If we can get it right, we are easily a top 15 footballing nation. We should be a top 10 in an ideal world.
@@cbgg1585 And sorry man I've been up all night watching the game my writing is hardly legible lol
love both codes too - the thing that I have to shake my head at is how so much of the mainstream media is jumping on the bandwagon. Football (soccer) has so many hit pieces and critics in our country that love to try and hold it back or kick it while it's down but now there is an amazing achievement, they want to jump on board and cover the story. Hopefully this tournament will be a huge boost to resurging the interest in the local game and attract more players, sponsorship, coverage and boost the profile of the code domestically and abroad!
@@cbgg1585 Couldn't agree more man
@@cbgg1585
it's called soccer in Australia. Football is a completely different game closer to rugby.
Lmao Bozza does love a wild celebration.
My home town. Might head down there this Sunday morning.
Love how she says "and aussie rules to an extent" when that is the number one sport in Australia and the 4th highest attended sport in the world lol. Saying this as also a football fan, can not wait for Australia v Argentina and also waiting for domestic football Brisbane Roar to return plus Arsenal.
Mate it's rough being a Roar fan lately. Wish we could bugger off the Barkies and get some owners that give a crap about the club
@@Reece_Hart They've been a thorn in our side for a while now the owners of Brisbane Roar, so much potential and they either don't see it or just refuse to act!
4th highest attended because Victoria loves it and most of the club's are there. But it wouldn't be anywhere near that high on the list in terms of viewership.
@@williamhobbs2367 Sure 🙄
Well-done boys, fantastic Socceroos ❤️
Stand proud Australia!!!!!
Futball is not the #1 sport in Korea as well. Plus we are not as sports obssessed as Aussies are, and lack a modern athletic tradition, and athletics are not popular. Hopefully that changes and we encourage more youngsters to get involved in sports.
⚽️ is the most popular sport in Korea both North and South
@@jorgequiroz4400 no es taekwondo. Y beisbol tambien es mas popular hoy en dia.
@@jorgequiroz4400 did you just try to say the most popular sport in a south east asian country was something besides a martial arts?
Because its TKD by numbers who do the sport. And its infinitely basketball and baseball for what people attend to watch and ewtch on TV.
Shout out to Volleyball and Badminton though
congrats Australia! you are much better than you think you are! much intelligent, popular, and sports spirit than AFL.... very proud of you mate!
Surprisedly WC 🤔🙄♥️⚽
Think about Football (soccer) is not even the third most popular winter sport in Australia. It’s in fact fifth behind Australian Rules, Rugby League, Rugby Union and Basketball. Imagine how good Australia would be if it was major football code in the country
When the Socceroos do well in the WC, football in Australia gets a boost like A League, NPL, youth etc.
well deserved boys 🤘🇦🇺💪🍻
Aussie Rules way bigger than Rugby which is only big in New South Wales and Queensland.
Soccer is still well behind except within the Italian, Greek etc communities.
Has grown but sadly many academy programs have been set up and the poorer families can't afford it and generally the rich kids have had it too easy and don't make it
Rugby league is better than afl
@@joshtri2067 disagree but hey.
The point is that AFL is way more popular in Australia than Rugby Lesgue or Union.
Rugby league still better tho
It's not way bigger at all.
IM ON SMOKO
Bloody legend
Oath bruhh! Get that up ya! Vb longneck!
Ok mate you got a buck or two for the bus?!
Great to Hear the Aussies really getting into it " your red your white your Goin Home Tonight " Class - Good Luck vs Argentina - C Mon England 🇬🇧 .
A week ago most of them didn’t even know that they had a team in the World Cup
Aussie rules football (AFL) is the biggest sport in Australia by a big margin. Then rugby league, cricket and soccer in that order
Done know about 10 months ago but you have just under 200k registered rugby league players in australia and 1.1 million football / soccer players in Australia.
Is he talking with his eyes closed?
He's talking in his sleep lol
He should have just painted eyes on his eyelids
It was about 4am here he's feeling the effects of watching football in aus , 🤣

It's not soccer, Its FOOTBALL

We know its Football. But it's soccer in different countries!! Stop being rude

The USA embarrassed England, it's soccer now.
@@matthewsmith6176 exactly. I say football because I've grown up in England but I have no issues calling football soccer when I'm around people from countries that call the game soccer ⚽.

In Cricket Australia are the most Successful Team but in Football they are still a long way to go they have started to qualify for 5 Consecutive FIFA World Cup but my country India don't look like qualifying for FIFA World Cup
Is cricket the number 1 sport in India does football even come close?
@@poolie-mag8282 football does not come close. 1. Cricket 2. Hockey 3. Football
@@joeyrobertson9523 thought so didnt kno hockey was big there
@@poolie-mag8282 the Aussies are decent in rugby too
Soccer is like the 5th most popular sport in Australia
I think a lot of our success in this tournament is due to being more experienced at playing in Qatar, three of our world cup qualifier home games were played there due to covid, as well as the two playoff matches. We're effectively the second home side here.
I was really hoping we'd be facing Poland in the next round, as a European side would likely be less acclimatised to these kind of conditions compared to a South American side, but Argentina is who we've been given and I back us to put up a good fight!
How slow is this news
Biggest sport event on earth
It shouldn't be. Pretty 🌈 sport tbh. Men rolling around crying 🤦♂️
I like how the afc want to kick us out. It’s rubbish we are worth our weight.

They do know they're playing Argentina right?
Doubt it. But Argentina shouldn’t be feared.
Yep they are indeed
Very beatable the Argies not a great team
yeah mate and nothing to lose
@@Disco_Biscuit_X Argentina, France, Spain , England and Brazil are the best team in WC tho. Mexico was a great team but they're eliminated.
Sometime luck depends nomatter how great you play.
Yes Brazil Argentina are the better squads come play an Aussie rules tournament see how you go it's like Denmark beating us at our homegrown game that's called perspective
How does he stay up for the games @3am 👃💨🎱

Damn Tunisia was really better
The Socceroos will defeat Argentina....watch and learn
they lost against Argentina lol
Australia it’s FOOTBALL now, no soccerWHOS any more mate !
please... it is Footbal!!!!,!
This one made up for that BS Italy penalty back in the day. Sat there at fed square then and dexlcided to go early for this one too.
Althought we didnt win it was good to see us able to go out on our own terms. Not from some dude taking a dive
Cricket isn't as big as football for sure in Australia !! Yeah AFL and NFL is on top spot for sure, but after that it's definitely Football !! Sunday league goes all around Australia !!
Idk about that. Cricket still popular especially when the big games are on

I always thought Australians spoke English. I can't understand a word of this.
Myth Busted.
Get your hearing checked maybe
Lol luck helped you. Pray you dont face England. Only God shows mercy.
Aussies are riding on the luck. Against Tunisia and Denmark in the first half they were no where near to be deserveing 2nd place holder. But, they managed to do that and that says a lot
Football is not a science buddy...
Ask Germany and Belgium today..
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Against Tunisia ?? First half Aussie was dominating Tunisia and picked up all the 2nd balls.
Doesn’t matter if you’re deserving or not. If you don’t put away your chances, then it’s all meaningless.
The only stat that matters in the end is the score.
"the latest consensus in Australia" LOL nah Bozza it's called a census brah. 🥱
