- GAS MONKEY GARAGE built this HELLCAT POWERED '67 DODGE DART for an episode of FAST 'N LOUD. Our friend Chris Ashton, found it for sale on eBay and couldn't help himself, he decided to pick it up and sort it out RUFFIAN style so sit back and enjoy the ride...

Props to Dodge - they really made a impressive Engine.
Chris is still my favorite mad scientist engineer artist who makes the rest of the world seem like it's moving too slow in comparison. My grandmother owned one of these and would be shocked to see this one were she around today.
Very kind words. Thank you. Will keep on trying to build cool stuff! 😁
This build was definitely one of my favorite Gas Monkey episodes.
That "sewer 💩pipe" look of the rusty roll cage is the purest effect of nostalgia & badass'ry.
Hahahaha, sewer pipe! 🤘
Krusty Krab
Yet another amazing car, but made way i love it. Bare minimum of blink, and full focus on pure American Muscle fun! 🎉
Bad Ass! some mopar guys on here arguing about points vs electric ignition lmao. This dude is what mopar is all about.
Depends what type of mopar enthusiast you are I'm old school, we have 11 67 to 71 mopars from factory 318s to 418 wedge and the all mighty 426 500 HP is plenty for me
Chis has to be the most regular guy builder would be a great guy to just hang out with and be just one of the guys ! Thank you Chris for sharing your passion for cars with the world !!! 👍🏻🇺🇸
Yes, Chris and Steve Strope would awesome company for cold beers and talkin s#it
Man that thing moves.... I love how calm Chris is completely ripping it up.
BEASTLY! *Lawn Dart!* (looks like a fun backyard toy but is really lethal).
Love these type build cars.. Drive and Enjoy! No Polish needed! .Don’t worry about getting in dirty or scratched at the shopping mall parking ha ha
Anything hellcat powered is a must watch
wait you're having a fox body built by Chris? omg omg,,,,, I loooooove fox bodies and built by Chris....... dreamy
I love this car......takes me back to high school!
Actually one of the better fast n loud builds.
Never thought I'd see a red VL Commodore on this channel, cheers Shaun
Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!!
I'd call a Mr. Norm's '69 Dart GTS 440 desirable🤔
thanks for explaining trans brake that's always been a mystery completely
Chris' Galaxie is still probably my favorite
Had a 67 Dart GT. Medium Copper Metallic, originally had a 273 4bbl, with a 904 Trans, I installed a 340, Stl Crank, 10.5-1, ported and polished heads, LD4B intake, Hooker Super Comp Headers, Holly 750 dbbl pumper. Mancini Racing Kevlar Clutch pack, Manual Valve Body 727 with a 3g Stall Converter. 3.91 posi 8.75 rear with a relocated Super Comp Leaf Springs via Mancini kit, and adjustable Pinion Snubber.
Loved this GMG build, cool improvements to that. Love it!
Wow, your 273 sounds like it was awesome. My dad's 66 Coronet was born with a 273 and when I inherited it I rebuilt it but stock like it came from the factory. Still a 2bbl but with a mild Isky E-4 cam and stock compression. It's not fast but it's reliable. One day if I take it out again it will get high compression and a 4bbl.
Ain't nothing like the fun of that Hellcat motor when you get on the gas😂😂😂
Such a cool ride. But I didnt know Shaggy worked on cars. No wonder the Mystery Machine was so dope!
This thing is SICK!!!
Wow! My first car was a hand me down 63 Dodge Dart with a slant 6 and push button transmission. This build is 🔥.
Wonderful, another great episode, I'll say it again you have some of the best camera people, keep on truckin.
That Dart is the right amount of menacing 😄
I had the same dart in high school (76) it had a whine too it was the axle bearing
Gotta love a Fast Ratty Dart, such a cool car
Love Chris and Ruffian. That’s a cool car, as a fan of Gas Monkey from back in the day I love it. If I was Chris I’d probably ditch the glide and go with a turbo 400 with a gear vendor for a 4 speed
Absolutely SICK dart!! A Fox chassis built by the Ruffian team... I am ALL IN for that. I hope Detroit Speed does you right with an IRS setup
Glad to see another of Chris's builds. He's one of the best with fresh ideas!
Hey,, IF Chris Aston is impressed,, WHO could possibly be unimpressed with the job Gas Monkey did when they put together this little Dart. Personally I am a fan of the MoPar V8 Dart's. I bought a 1970 Dart Swinger off the showroom floor that year and loved it. Like a fool I traded it off in '73 for a Polara wagon to haul our 3 kids around but never forgot that little 340 single 4bbl, TorqueFlight beast and all the street races I won with it.
Ok, I think that this was a perfect match. Car is actually very cool. The craftsmanship is excellent. The not restored look is very appealing to me.
The ease of doing burn outs. Has the look of driving on " ICE " . So that's very important to the cool factor. I'm all in brother?!!!
I love every car Chris Ashton touches
Nice! Thank you!
Really happy to hear credit given to gas monkey. I really dont get why people hate Richard and gmg. They are doing well and stay in their own style. Not trying pretend any better than they are.
The talent this man and his team demonstrate is mind blowing!
So cool, Chris still loves the barebones classic hot rods. Looking forward to the build
This dudes mustang is awesome 👍 genius builder
Bad ass car!
When Shaggy build a Dart 😂 what a sick ride! Love it
Most talented car customizer out there. Ruffian Rules
I was initially disappointed it wasn't Richard or better still Aaron, but then I saw it was Chris and was even happier :)
Wow, my first car was a hand me down Dodge Dart slant 6 with a 63 with a push button transmission. This build is 🔥.
So much knowledge on display. What a beaut
i love this. old school with new tech, looks and sounds awesome
Beautiful work with a beautiful car❤❤❤❤❤
Gas Monkey Garage is one of my favorites on youtube .. I wish they would get back to more restorations and restomods, but hes more into flipping now.
The sound of this car is effin’ brilliant. 👍🏻😎👍🏻
Amazing. As usual. Much love. 🇬🇧
Dd speed shop said hi 😂
Long live the Mopar! I'm afraid its days are numbered. Sad.
Very hype for the Foxbody series!! I really miss my car and can't wait to see what you guys do with the car!
Cool build ..well done all .love it 😊
I do love a modern motor in an old car it must take a lot of the hassle of breaking parts out the way .
Keep well everyone.
Always liked those 67 Darts.
I believe that 67 was the best year all around for muscle, even many other cars. Collectively they just seemed to look the best across the board. Of course there are other great 👍 years out there don’t get me wrong, just love the 67 year all around, IMO.
You when Aron Kaufman built that car it was the first stand alone Hellcat ever!
Hi end builds are cool, but so are these backyard builds. Keep up the good work covering both.
Bad ass !!!! Speechless 💯🔥
Awsome car gotta love the A body DART hellcat sounds sweet
What a crazy build. That big hellcat motor in that basically a shell of a car. I love it.
Did Shawn say this was an ex drag car? Jeeez this car has had a hard life- drag car- now has a 700+ Hellcat in it. Upgrades, sure, but It's a testament to American engineering that it's still going strong after 60 years. I don't usually like patina but this car deserves to show its battle scars. Rock on....
Drag car with the hellcat motor Gas Monkey built it to race Roadkills Hellcat Charger !!! And this one won first Hellcat motor to run independent of all the wiring that came with the motor (to tell the ECM & All other modules what to be doin) !!!
@@wrongwayroger2519 oh ok. It was a bit unclear what it was before the Hellcat. Either way it's killer.
Very nice. Wish we had more shops like that here.
Awesome!
Great Video
Glad he likes his car
I’m NOT a fan of
F N L
👍JOE FROM NOSTALGIA 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Ooo, and some sizzle. So exciting
Always love DODGE DART
My favs are the roadster shop, and Steve strope
In Australia our version of this car is a pacer….it’s super collectible but only ever came out with a hemi 6. Awesome car but no shock when it’s owned by mr Ruffian
Such a rad episode!!! 🙌🏼
.......BEAUTIFUL.
Another cool car. Thanks Sean
Awesome car and I can’t wait to see the fox body!
amazing ride
The Hellcat has become the LS motor replacement it's factory direct it's power proven its factory reliable just as the LS.
Can’t WAIT to see that Fox!!
Good to see the Shart Cat. ❤
Wow shawn badddd ass car man as usual man thanks look forward to each video 📹 😮
Cool Build!
Now that is the ultimate in tuffness!
The roll cage is left raw, so the welds are visible during inspection. I imagine it can be treated with an oil to keep from flash rusting.
Brilliant!
That thing is sick
Can’t wait for the mustang
love that car!
Thats 800hp allday with the longtubes. Badass car
Didn't think about those. Good point!
@chrisashton7133 love your work, love the daily. Enjoy your summer good sir. 🎉
1987 Allstate Safe Driver 😂😂
Nice to see him behind the wheel again since the accident .
Chris looks like Shaggy from Scooby Doo only he's smart af.
just the right amount of rat and patina on the outside hahaha personally i would want some more interior and seats though to match up the "street car" feel. 😁😅
Wow shaun thankyou for havin the balls to ask bout trans brake... never understood it over here in uk 🇬🇧
So Cool
My absolute dream car!!
Love the dart
Datz a real street rod dat I would build in the eighties luv it !
With a hemi 392 at dat
You won’t see a bad ass build like this come from Gas Monkey again. 😢
@21:06 did my guy just say Fox body build? I'm excited!
I’m always watching from Miami! Waiting to do a collab with you guys! East coast, West coast
Hi Shawn Hi Chris Great Video Thank You 🙏
Hay that's Jay Leno's bridge !😂
Have always loved Darts. This one looks sick. I rather drive that than most of these million bucks high end trailer queens.
Wow! My dream muscle car in real life
