I live in Costa Rica. The beauty of my country is that we have a mix of car brands. We have Patrol (not the Ute), Land Cruiser, Suzuki Jimny and American brands with European or North American specs. Well, and we have Renault, Peugeot, Fiat, BMW, Mercedes, Maserratti, UAZ, Lada, and the Chinese brands.... I wish we could have the Commodore, Falcon and Monaro. The only problem that we have here are taxes, US$ 104000 for a Ram 2500 Cummins, or $85000 for a Wrangler, $85000 for a Prado VX or Tahoe or F150 XLT Ecoboost. And the other problem, $4.1 per US gallon of regular gas (because taxes), $3.64 diesel.
Ronny i love your channel im just getting in overlanding me and 4 of my friends your videos have helped us set up are rigs i have a 2015 tacoma off orad i have lifted and equiped with a few things i have seen in your videos keep up the good work.
i thought diesel turbo nissans/toyotas got around 10 lt 100.my 351,with 302 heads,yes its a bronco,on lpg,uses 28 lt 100.too much grunt,but fun.lsd front rear std.that work.35x12.5x16 fc2,3.5 diff ratio,low range bit high,better with 4.11,& yes,he should of looked into the nissan turbo & upgraded it.but the more power out of a diesel you get you m,ight as well get a petrol,same economy.why do people chip diesels to get more power.if it had 1000 hp thyed still chip it.seems to defeat the idea of having a diesel.plus service/parts rediculous price.petrol lot cheaper end of day.but then again,i bought a diesel,4.2 tdi ford f250,140kw,500nm std.10.5 lt 100.weighs 3.9t empty,beat that toyota.140 lt tank,3" system,huge intercooler,std.go ford,or buy a duramax lly.
Far out that's great. I got 15l/100 with 33's and a 4 inch lift. With 37s, fueled and boosted up to get anywhere remotely near that power? Id hate to think what they use. TD42s are a slug unless you get up them.
great mod ,my 2006 dx/gu ute gets 1400km for the 2 factory tanks on it, with 32'' it has the 4.2 int turbo at 332000km ex Telstra . keep up the good vids mate .you never know if my motor blows I will have to do the same.
Hey Ronny, I'm a long time viewer of the channel. Ep23 is still my favourite modified. I'm over for my first trip to WA for a bucks party and wondering if you could do a short for my mate, the buck Angus. We'll spend the weekend bucks out exploring the South West. Thanks again for the content.
Howdy fella's, awesome rig and nice video rundown, but at the start you said it was a GQ, you sure it isn't a GU? Either way though its a bloody rig. Thanks heaps. I just saw the rest of the video and it is just the start that says GQ the rest says GU. Once again cheers for the vid, gotta love the patrols.
+harry walker modified Australian 4x4s have more work and effort put into them. Here it's billybob and his son throwing a cheap lift on $1200 jeep just to drive it through a mud pit in the backyard at 30 mph. Not saying all are like that but that's the majority of the "off-roaders" in the United States. The Australians take their time, get everything done properly and built strong. Plus the Australians have mid size diesels. Something the states would never have in a stock vehicle.
Titan and Ram trucks are full size, not mid size. The only midsize diesel is the GMC canyon - but even then that only comes in upper trim level with crew cab, leather trim and an automatic. Nothing like the cheapo early 2000's utes that show up in australia, unfortunately.
i have a jeep wrangler 2012 6 speed manual unlimited with a lexus 3UZ 4.3 vvt. gets 17L/100km around town. 14-13L/100km on the hight way. 13L/100km if i am carefull😂... the jeep is lots of fun but its a rubicon so its open diff with lockers... i wish i could get a LSD and still keep the locker
I have done one myself and once you have everyhting there and engine out it took probably 4 days straight thats to get it running then you have exhaust and tuning and stuff like that
Might be worth reviewing your LPG cylinder location. LPG cylinders need to be stored upright, with adequate ventilation, rather than lying down in a sealed case.
+Arkonent doesnt seem like they are much wider than an fj cruiser. i like the overlanding that australia has and the vehicle capability. most americans just want height more than building a rig with travel and lockers etc .. maybe i will be one of the firsts to build one
crazy. in the usa for $6k you could get a top of the line fully built chevy motor ( i have a completely built 4 bolt lt1 motor out of a 94 impala ss which was race built for around $6k. For a basic 6.0 out of a chevy truck, i don't see paying more than $2.5k. for my uncle's jeep 4.0 we replaced his dead motor with a low mileage motor for under $1k. Seems like stuff costs way more down in australia.
Killer Vines Because the car is older, underneath the sticker will be nice new glossy paint and the area around it will be dull and scratched up, so you'd see the ugly outline of where you peeled the sticker off.
Got to love that v8 sound!!
Production quality just keeps getting better. Thanks again for another great episode of modified
when he first started it up i thought it was a 4.2 ....then brrrraaaappppp
Gibbet Hoskins sounds so tough!!
This might be my new favorite ute :)
+Indy Pindy which was the fav before this?
The 79er. But thats an all time fav :)
I'm keen to see a Td42 GQ Nissan patrol ute! Love me patrols !!

Cheers Ron. We need more of these blokes with the V8 mods.
Brunswick Diesels have got it sussed!
well fitted out truck , once again Ronny top vid
Now that's a well made rig.
Ronny i love your channel im just getting in overlanding me and 4 of my friends your videos have helped us set up are rigs i have a 2015 tacoma off orad i have lifted and equiped with a few things i have seen in your videos keep up the good work.
Awesome truck! Wish we could get those in the USA. Thank you for featuring a Nissan! Lets see a R50 Pathfinder!
That thing is mean as hell with the LS motor in it.
very cool...just a nice looking ride as well as tough,,
Awesome review. Your stuff is very professional and the trucks, especially this one, are awesome.
That sound is glorious
17 l/100. That's awesome. You'd be lucky to get that out of a TD42.

Petrol patrol TB42 youll get around 24-28l/100
A mate of mine gets 18-20L/100km his TD42 ute on 33's. Terrible
lol i get 11 per 100

SS Commodore engine swap? Fuck yeah!
Very Very nice ronny, brilliant episode! Killer GU too.
What a rig! Love me a Patrol.
awsome Episode. great set up loved it
hell yeah man! that new start was amazing
My favorite so far!!!
Killer setup!

That thing is goals...yes....but my shorty GQ could definitely get through most of the same stuff this thing does. Just so much money, bloody hell
Fuck I spoke too soon, that things crazy underneath.
Really well put together ute!
Sweet video. Amazing production quality as always.
If the opportunity ever arises I'd love to see a video on ute chops and/or DIY ute tray builds.
Tops video Ronny and a unreal beast ute
Got the same tyres but in the 35s and love them
You should do a modified episode on a Toyota Tundra that would be great. Thanks for all the great videos
They aren't really accessible in Australia. We have an abundance of Hilux/Tacoma. A Tundra would be $100kAUD. Not worth it
You should do a modified episode on a second gen Mitsubishi montero (pajero)! Great channel!👍🏽
Nice v8 sound
sick rig
Hanging out for the Wrangler next ep...
Hahaa, yesss new Ronny vid!
weapon
Funny looking GQ... (@1:36)
I've finally figured out your license plate ronny. pretty cool
Good vid lads, loved the mods. ATB Moose in Vic.
lovely
That sounds fucking unreal
Great job on the videos and information. Awesome off roading!
V8 nice so much 太厉害了 老哥

i have y6o....but your have nice sound...nice...
You should really make a trip to the states! Then you can have a comparison video of American built 4x4s vs Australia's.
there aint no comparison, states been doing it since day dot,if its not dana spicer,it aint coming home.

Please do a video of an older 75 series and a 60 series
Wow.
👍👍👍💪🔥😍
i have a jeep wrangler 2012 6 speed manual unlimited with a lexus 3UZ 4.3 vvt. gets 17L/100km around town. 14-13L/100km on the hight way. 13L/100km if i am carefull😂... the jeep is lots of fun but its a rubicon so its open diff with lockers... i wish i could get a LSD and still keep the locker
Keep it Nissan and use the VK56.
id like to see a pre 95 truck on here
Try reviewing a Patrol y62 Ronny, I am sure lots of blokes at aussie patrol y62 club would love to share their rides.
+Alice Nakiri pretty keen to find one just haven't seen one yet with a lot of stuff on it
Hey Ronny, once again you've made a great video. Do u know how long it took for him to do the conversion?
+johnatotomato think it was a matter of days maybe even just a weekend
I have done one myself and once you have everyhting there and engine out it took probably 4 days straight thats to get it running then you have exhaust and tuning and stuff like that
theres heaps of coil all round gu utes around
Hey Ronny could u do another GQ patrol
Nothing like a v8 commodore engine
Any ideas which company that canvas canopy is from? Looks well made.
Did on-track paint everything they fabricated? Did they put all the bolts back in when they fitted the sliders too?
Mint GU!
I have the same motor in mine!
Do you know if hes done any work Cam etc to the engine or just stock?
Cheers
Daniel, interested to know who whom you went to in Perth for the Engineering approval? I am looking at doing a L98 / 6L80E conversion in an FZJ-105.
Averages 17 litres per 100k.....Yeah thats not too bad aye
How do you get such good k’s per 100, I’m struggling even with a tune for fuel economy
1:38 Ronny's only mistake ever. GU*
who makes the canopy
first
whats the v8 petrol compared to the turbo diesel? does it still have enough torque
Might be worth reviewing your LPG cylinder location. LPG cylinders need to be stored upright, with adequate ventilation, rather than lying down in a sealed case.
I used 20lt of juice just loading this vid up.
Is there a particular reason why you guys all have utes?
What's the advantage on the Wagon?
Cheers
you could say that utes are allowed to be scratched and they have less panels to dent, so therefore easier to sell. the wagons are just as good though
+Soarer fair enaugh!
Utes all done up look tougher
What transmission are you using
What are those wheels called
whats the exhaust set up on this thing??
it sounds wicked but why swap out the factory td42 it had? couldve gone a 3" exhaust, chip and a bigger turbo
because swapping a 6.0l v8 into a patrol is unique ! but fair point
+James Andrews he had heating issues when it was a 4.2 and pretty sure it had this mods you listed too.
Cause a TD42 has no where near the torque an LS has. They are similar economy wise too.
probably blew it up and diesels are stupid expensive to fix if they get major problems
a maccors chip haha
where did you get that sexy engine from
is anyone able to tell me what sort of person i would visit to get a canopy made up similar to this?
It says gq when the owner is explaining its a Gu 😝
@ 1:33 description says GQ not GU =/
WOW! 6 HORSE POWER!?!? LOL 2:46
winch....
Aimee K hahha the winch is 6hp 😂
what transmission are you running is it stock as I have a 5L v8 hilux
Brodyn Chrisp stock 5 speed is plenty enough
any f150s sold in australia? or imported?
There are quite a few, but they are a little wide for every day driving here, so you don't really see many modified excessively.
+Arkonent doesnt seem like they are much wider than an fj cruiser. i like the overlanding that australia has and the vehicle capability. most americans just want height more than building a rig with travel and lockers etc .. maybe i will be one of the firsts to build one
+FordFoX4 yep but still looking for a more than medium modded one
+Ronny Dahl (4 Wheeling in W.A.) thanks. id like to see an american truck outfitted properly!
Why in america we write tires and not tyres?
The Queens English as opposed to bastardised versions 😜
how much did all that cost? I want to over hall my truck.
+Isais Lawrence the motor itself is pretty cheap around 6k if I remember correctly. If I'm wrong feel free to let me know

Its got a turbo diesel sticker
Because it started life as a turbo diesel ;)
I know but he swapped with a holden motor and its not turbo or diesel so you would take the sticker off wouldn't you?
Killer Vines Because the car is older, underneath the sticker will be nice new glossy paint and the area around it will be dull and scratched up, so you'd see the ugly outline of where you peeled the sticker off.
Im just saying in general tho
Its also hilarious watching people disappear in your rearview who try and race thinking you're running a diesel
whats the name of the song you use in the intro's, cheers
+The Black Baron strange ways in the youtube library
cheers brother, awesome videos btw :)
Turn off music when V8 is running!
can we get a lexus lx470 v8?
yes you can do that in patrol
first
