Actually, I just purchased the 12W Constellation from Shehds. I will do a Critical Theatrical Technician Review on my channel in about two weeks.
This might be a stupid question but I’m looking to get into this for hobby!! By any chance is sound switch the same concept as laseros in regards to creating youre own animations/effects/designs rather than just messing with the already programmed effects/animations? Thanks in advance!
I highly recommend sound switch if you want something that is dynamic and easy to use if your using it with lets say Denon all in ones where you won’t need any controller or lighting engineer as it’s all done within the integrated software on top of the song automatically. But it does unfortunately use built in effects but you can mess with them and change them but you can’t unfortunately create your own effect from scratch. But I would recommend quick show and other pangolin softwares.

Are they bright enough as a pair at outdoor events? I run a number of bush doofs (with approval and licensing) throughout the year and want to add lasers but the 1w I hired for the last one didnt cut it
It depends on a lot of variables, if you do use smoke/fog I think it will be ok, humidity, in sunlight or in the dark and stuff like that for outdoor events. But I would recommend lasers over 10W. Like the SHEHDS 12W constellaseer should be just fine, but I think 3W are still too weak for outdoors.
hey how did you connect the laser to dmx. i saw another comment where you said "I’m using the cable that comes with the laser ( extender ) and it does absolutely fine." did you receive a adapter with the laser? Mine only had the cabels that are attached to the laser
I’m very sorry to hear that, yes my laser came with the adaptor. I would recommend to reach out to customer service to get yourself an extender/adaptor. But I think that you might be able to jam the DMX in the lasers cable.

Just purchased 2 of these, I’m running into issues trying to get my dmx cable to fit in the ip65 dmx in.. is there an adapter you’re using??
I’m using the cable that comes with the laser ( extender ) and it does absolutely fine. Unfortunately it is like this on purpose because of the IP rating.
@@DJDannyDanteis that cable the DMX to USB interface that SHEHDS sells on their website? i’ve bought 3 different cables to try and connect to to the laser and none of them fit, im planning on getting a second laser and 2 of the DMX to USB interface cables to connect into my Denon Prime 4+, would that work?
What do you do about using it outdoors without a varience?
I was planning on using my pair at an outdoor church event
They are perfect for our door events. I have used them in multiple occasions and they did absolutely perfect!

@@PartyatmosphereIts sheds.... There would be no way to get a variance. 1) No E-stop anywhere in sight & 2) no interlock. Better off sticking with Unity/Kvant/Pangolin.
how do i find the dmx conversion wire, so I can order a longer one that goes from my light source to my laser which will be positioned further away?
I used Sweetwater for the Ethernet RJ45 and the XLR cables. I also bought a 3-PIN XLR to RJ45 Ethernet adapter from Sweetwater.
It’s a IP65 waterproof DMX cable. It is deliberately like this because of the IP rating

I’m using a Software with DMX. There is also Auto mode and Sound active mode.

how are you limiting the lower portion of the beam so it doesn't hit people in the eyes?
You can set the limiter within the lasers menu, set it by tilting the laser manually or also within the software of your choice.
They say they have ILDA but they don't seem to have an ILDA port, do they have one? I would want to run pangolin software. Are they anywhere as near as bright as other 3 watt lasers?
Hello, this is the waterproof version. (IP65) these do not have the ILDA. But the non-waterproof version that has the exact same inside technology do have them. There is no difference between the two, only the exterior is different, and they have ILDA.
And yes, they do give out a true 3W beam. You will have no problem with the brightness. They are wicked powerful.

The Contellation Series (Not the water-proof model) all have ILDA Ports. I just bought a 12W from Shehds. I will do a review on my channel. I'm a metal guitarist so I will kick it around hard to see what it does.

Can you create custom beam designs or does it write words?
thank you very much for your comment. using DMX you can create whatever you want with it, and using DMX you can also write with it.

These fixtures are illegal to use for public display in the USA as they do not have the required safety features (keyed interlock, labeling, CDRH variance, etc.). They are being sold in the USA as LED fixtures to skirt the manufacturer requirements, and have been reported to the FDA.
Unfortunately it is as you say. Would love to have them include safety features. As they only include e-stops through DMX. But luckily you can put x and y limiters via the display
