    Totally agree about that "swimming". Especially when just changing lanes. works fine on highways since it's using v11 stack. but v12 has that "swimming". I have the same 2024 M3

      For the video purposes I just let it be, but when I’m driving or someone else is in the car I just disengage when it does that bc it’s too embarrassing 🤣

      It may be a way of improving observability for interpreting the lane markings. There is very little information about velocity and acceleration for vision-only systems, so the manoeuvres are needed to 'understand' the scene. It is a consequence of not having velocity sensors, such as LiDAR.

    It’s amazing how good FSD is, but the little quirks like you mention at the start (choosing lanes, rapid acceleration from stop signs) those really annoy me when I’m doing FSD with my M3. That’s what keeps it from feeling like a normal drive.

    I had got 12.3.6 2 days after 12.3.5. It feels just as good. I think it still ignores my max limit speed set too much. I only seem to get nag if I keep my eyes off the road and then I just put my hand over the turn signals without touching anything and the nag goes away. Somehow it is sensing my hand hovering over the controls. I use assertive only and find it isn’t assertive enough at times. When coming off the highways it slows down below the speed limit too much before hitting the off ramp. NJ ramps are often drawn bad. I also get all the same hesitations while stopping, merging or stop signs turns. Blinking red lights are still an issue. I can see it noticing potholes because I daily drive on a bad road and it goes well under the speed limit due to the condition. Like 10 to 15 under. When I nudge the accelerator to make it go it’ll launch to max speed.

    • @MetzTech
      @MetzTech  Před 4 měsíci

      Definitely not assertive enough. I can’t imagine what the chill setting is like lol

  • @paulhamrick3943
    @paulhamrick3943 Před 4 měsíci

    I think you are correct, when it left that gap it was doing so so that cars exiting or entering that parking lot (business) on your right would have room, but the reason why once traffic started moving it didn't wait for that person to pull out is because that person was giving almost no indication they planned on pulling onto the road, they didn't creep forward and indicate they were taking the right-of-way. I think you should have just let the Tesla drive, in my experience it detects fairly accurately when other cars are asserting their right-of-way, if they don't assert themselves that's their fault.

    • @MetzTech
      @MetzTech  Před 4 měsíci

      Totally. It’s tough when that person in the other car is making direct eye contact with you as you let the car drive past them 😅🤣

    I had the FSD for the month of April. The biggest issues I had with it were:
    1) Choosing the wrong lane. It would often get in the “right turn only” lane when going straight.
    2) Making a right turn on a red light, even when there is a “no turn on red” sign.
    3) It doesn’t avoid pot holes.
    I had to take over too often for it to be worth paying $99 a month. I’ll try it again in a few months.
    Thanks for the video.

    You can flick the left scroll wheel, up or down, to provide the needed feedback for FSD nags. I find there's less tendency to accidentally disengage when using the scroll wheel vs torque on the steering wheel.

    • @MetzTech

  • @darkdragon88
    @darkdragon88 Před 4 měsíci

    I still have trouble with slow right turns on red and stop signs. In some left turn lanes I don't get a swimming motion, I get a straight up quick back and forth jiggle that scares me and I disengage. I have to go to chill mode to avoid a lot of lane changes because in my path to and from work, I go to the lane that will not merge up ahead or have parked cars during scheduled times. At this point I am not sure if I want to subscribe to FSD but I think these can be solved. Like you said, it doesn't really do a lot wrong, but it is going to annoy like a new driver.

  • @rj-zn3cw

    11:05 hahaha yes!!! I love this. A person after my own heart. Can't stand the people who say "yah but it's safer"....no it's not!! When the car slams on its brakes to be at 3 car lengths apart at a stop, it's NOT being safer (we used to be able to choose follow distance). When the car sits there and waits at intersections until COMPLETELY clear, it's not being safer. People behind you are damn near rear ending you to get you to MOVE! It needs to act like 99% of the normal driver, not like the 90 year old "safe" driver.
    Also, I've had FSD for 5 years now and have seen no discernible difference between the three "modes" of driving...
    I'm experiencing the same aggravating issues you are on 12.3.6.... Hoping 12.4 improves on FSD.

    • @MetzTech
      @MetzTech  Před 4 měsíci +1

      When a car behaves out of the ordinary, regardless of what is the “safest”, it becomes unsafe. We want the driving experience to be indiscernible between human and FSD and it’s not that right now.
