I know the mother wouldn't read this. You didn't let your daughter down. The hospital let you down and your daughter down.

This happened to my cousin earlier this year. Her face was swollen and she couldn’t breathe. She was so sick, and yet they only gave her meds and send her home. We took her to the hospital 3 times, before she was finally admitted to the ER, then take to a room. Sadly she didn’t make it home. They gave her too much morphine and a relaxant drug that cause her heart to stop. She was 26 and did not have any heart problems. We are heart broken by her loss.

Horrible outcome. Which drug did the girl have an allergic reaction to in the first place?

If you pause the video when they show her records, the drug named is lamotrigine, which is mostly prescribed for seizures or bipolar disorder (I looked it up online).

Healthcare has changed because of the insurance industry which makes it very difficult for doctors to practice good medicine, along with severe short staffing, burnout, and PTSD which can cause apathy.
The bottom line is if anyone feels they aren't getting good care, they have to keep trying to seek help from different places, not just keep asking the same people who aren't helping.
And because medical bills don't go on credit reports anymore, many people are seeking care they know they can't pay for, out of desperation.

I don't understand what is wrong in the USA this isn't a problem in Australia we have free healthcare and free medicines that cost upwards of $2 million USD. The medicine that isn't free is cheap my medicine costs $30 AUD a month but people pay $600 USD with insurance in the USA. We also don't have to fight our private insurance providers if we choose to have health insurance. Health insurance is a choice here not a necessity. Scares me that the USA is a leader and that Australia could potentially become like the USA.

I really hope that racism didn't play a part in this. Unfortunately ER's are not where you go for long term care for a condition. The most they will do is diagnose a condition, give you immediate treatment for your symptoms and refer you to your primary care provider. I, a white female, went to the ER a few years back with shortness of breath and high fever. They did a chest X-ray on me and the Dr came in long enough to tell me I hand pneumonia and a partial collapse of one of my lungs. They sent me home with an inhaler and told me to make an appointment with my primary care provider. By the time I was able to get in to see my provider I had already mostly cleared the infection but my lungs was still partially collapsed which my PC had to treat.
I don't understand why they didn't take their daughter to their PC to get better treatment options for their daughter being as the hospital did so little for her. I really hope they heal and can move past this. My heart goes out to them.

my daughter was at seattle children’s and at first the dr refused an x ray. i insisted kindly and low and behold it was pneumonia! he was ready to send me home! we were given antibiotics right there thank goodness but i wrote a letter and received a follow up email with more questions, to which i answered. when a dr doesn’t listen to a mother who knows her child it is absolutely absent of a clinical evaluation

They knew she had issues with her heart. I don't see how that's not grounds to be admitted to the hospital. This happened during covid. They only cared about covid patients and writing off deaths as covid related. I don't know if you live in north western WA, but I had issues seeing my primary doctor due to the influx of patients and lack of doctors. Still to till this day I have to wait two months to see my doctor.

The ER is not for long term care, however it’s their job to admit you if need be. You are then informed that your provider will be contacted. Thereafter, your provider will send referrals to specialists.

This is such a tragic, horrible story. I don't know if racism was a factor or not--based on my own experiences over the last decade+, it seems like general negligence, disregard, dispassion, and right down to actual malpractice is the standard operating procedure in a large portion of the medical industry nowadays--but either way, someone should absolutely be held to account for the death of this poor girl and the grief her family has gone through over what could have been a treatable condition. Sending prayers to the family.

They should have took her records to her PCM. The ER has no responsibility to do a follow up on an ER visit once discharged.

Absolutely outrageous this is unforgivable. They swore an oath to-do-no harm. Hospitals can not and should not discriminate anyone, for any reason, under any circumstances. They failed their daughter, the parents, and their practice but in the end all the dirt will come out in the wash just you wait and see.

I pray that the family is able to receive generous compensation for their suffering (although money will never bring Sahana back), the family deserves it. I hope the mom knows that she didn’t fail her daughter, let her down, or blame herself. I also hope that the family finds healing and peace, because I can’t even imagine how traumatic this journey has been for them. I’m sending blessings their way! Sahana was such a beautiful and precious person, and her soul and her legacy will live on!

The IRONIC thing about this is I've faced SO much racism from Indian doctors that I will NEVER allow an ASIAN to touch me!
I've NEVER had a good experience with ANY Asian doctors, so I go where I'm wanted!
