Dr Tilo Kunath - Mechanisms of Neurodegeneration

Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition that affects about 120,000 people in the UK. Dr Kunath's lab at the University of Edinburgh's MRC Centre for Regenerative Medicine is focussed on understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms of how Parkinson's disease starts, and how it spreads through the brain. Central to this aim is gaining an understanding of the behaviour of alpha-synuclein in normal and pathogenic situations.
