I’ve been hearing David Crosby all my life. He is gone now. I’m sad I won’t hear him sing live in person anymore but I have a collection of recordings and these videos to remind us forever how great he was 🙏🏻✌🏻❤️
One of the most beautiful songs ever written. When I see Dave perform this as an old man I imagine he must remember the days lifetimes ago when he’d sail the Mayan across the globe.
excellent taste in music. I came to their music at 12 years old. That was 55 years ago. Be sure to find an early version of "wasted on the way" its the 3 of them, Crosby, Stills, and Nash.
@@littlezentzI was 7 😮. David's harmonies in the Byrds blew this wee lad away and made me pick up a guitar. and 1 of my life's treasures is the time he took for me when we were neighbors on Miami Beach ... I was 16 then. RIP David 😢 love you forever
I absolutely LOVE THIS MAN! He, along with Nash, Young, Stills, Browne are responsible for awakening the activist within my soul!🙌🏼✌🏼❣️ Their gifts to me keep on giving! THANK GOODNESS FOR THE HIPPIES! ❣️✌🏼🙌🏼‼️
Absolutely one of the most beautiful songs written and performed. When I hear it I'm on the Mayan with him, a hundred thousand islands Flung like jewels upon the sea. Those that can't see that are too broken to appreciate. If he lived the life you fantasized he should, we would not be listing to this or his music. Life is rough, many of us never get anything out of it, too beat up to get on with it. Life is too short, celebrate the few that have. David is one of them.
What are you babbling about? Crosby wrote a few excellent unique songs. A fine singer as well. However, no one fantasized about how he should have lived his life. Folks did wonder why he was such a jerk. Anyone who cant imagine themselves sailing with him is broken? That what you wrote. Bizarre. Surely you're not inferring he needed to be an arrogant selfish drug addled ass to produce his music?
I lost my wife of 55 years and David in the same week of 2023, but I have his music and her photos and memories of drifting for mackerel off the leeshore on summers evenings.
More than a legend. An amazing voice. From the school bench in the sixties to this day, David Crosby is in my heart. The sound of his guitar , songwriter and CSNY band voices together a magic ! Forever in my heart.
When I was around 8 or 9 years old in 1974 , an unkle of mine played the Album "Four Way Street" on his Recordplayer not even in Stereo. Anyway I was amazed from these songs on the record. We, my Cousin and I sang every song along with CSN&Y. Since then I listened this Album through my whole life and still do as I am 57 soon and know every word of the tracks. This kind of music will never be and never come again. Just like Prince, David Bowie, Leonard Cohen...
Perhaps my favorite DC/CSN(Y) song. Having read Long Time Gone, listening to this song makes me appreciate how meaningful and magical that time on the water aboard the Mayan was to him. Great to hear him perform it beautifully at almost 80 years old.
SO hard to believe he is no longer with us --- but I willl say this.. he lives in me forever...lol David - so serious R & R & everything from beginning to end XX My life was & aways has been based on this fantabulistic talent... .. OMG I miss you xx - no matter - you left us ((WELL))
Four Way Street is a Spectacular live CSNY album. Magnificent version there of Lee Shore. 50 years ago! His voice was so strong then, beautiful lyrics. Here he is fragile and wise. The sea and sailing are his great metaphor.
A buddy of mine would pick me up in his dad's car, and we'd drive around listening to Four Way Street (50 years ago) and that's when I became a CSNY fan. My friend lost his life in a car crash in '72. Whenever I listen to tracks from Four Way Street, I think of those times.
SING IT DAVID --- I for One -- will always love & respect you for the 'music' you have given us ---RIP you 'one of a kind' >> a fan always... Patricia xxxxx
Thank You God, for the art and music of David Crosby and having put me once in a live CSN concert in Cincinnati, OH, back in 1988. Thank you David for you art and music and RIP assured you will be immortal.
Ive been into his songs since I was a teen. In early70s. He is a 60s, 70, 80 communications genious with his Music, Lyrics and Guitar playing. From Heaven somewhere!! God gave him a platform!!!!❤
At 17, having greatly lamented the demise of Buffalo Springfiled, I was anxiously awaiting the first CSN record, having read that the three of them had met and decided to make a record together. It was as good as I'd hoped. Soon after, getting into more serious music, I didn't follow the band much beyond that. But whenever I happened to see Crosby involved in other projects, he was obviously continuing to grow musically, and at this point in time, of the three of them, history may show him to be the best musician of all. The fact that he has little ability to censor himself when it comes to his comments- that's nothing new- he ranted like a madman at Monterey in 1967. That's certainly a part of what comprises David Crosby- but it has nothing to do with his musical talents, aside from maybe alienating potential collaborators in some instances. Obviously, Waddy didn't have a problem with him here. He is an American music icon- up there with James Taylor, Paul Simon..Neil, and even Bob Dylan, who've all have held our interest for better than half a century. Who, at that age, can still sing with the tone he's kept on to, as well as keeping an eye to what is new and good in the musical world, rather than relying solely on the old standards and stepping into old footprints already made? I don't know him, but my ears have never let me down. If you dislike his music, that's your choice, and fair enough- don't listen. The other things are between him and whoever...not between him and me- or you.
BRAVO! This particular song is among my all-time favorites of all songs, all genres. It's ironic to read some of the hateful comments. It appears those that are bent on imposing themselves on others will stop at nothing and follow the free to where ever they may flee, sadly. Thank you Mr. Crosby for sharing. I for one, profoundly appreciate it. You are a hero in my book.
Love you, David!!! I was at Woodstock in '69.... and I wish I could get my big brother to buy tickets so I can come see you in Seattle this month....but...it's all good...I can close my eyes and still see and know... you are ALL GOOD ALL THE TIME!!!

David’s beautiful guitar tuning ,melodies and lyrics have gotten me through many times, good and bad.Thank you from the bottom of my heart..Greetings from UK
Saw David when he did a free solo set outdoors at Rutgers, 1982, all alone and flat, with nobody paying him much attention. Then with CSN at the civic arena in Pittsburgh, 1985, when he could barely stand on the stage. Great disappointment in someone I had idolized for years as a legend of folk rock from the Eden that was Laurel Canyon. I have much respect for him now, and I like to think that a silent prayer I made during that Pgh concert was heard, along with many others that night.
I will contact you when I need prayers! They worked. I think David is a miracle now and I can't dislike him for some past screw ups. What a huge talent!
