Our Fertility Journey - A Full IUI Cycle Documented

- Curious about what an IUI cycle is like? While Intrauterine Insemination cycles may look different from person to person (some medicated, some not, and some longer and some shorter), the IUI procedure itself is similar for everyone. I Documented all of my visits and the steps in between. I did not include video footage of the blood draws that happen at each appointment leading up to the IUI Procedure. However, there is a brief moment where you'll see the trigger shot in the video (you'll know it's coming so you can turn away if needles make you queazy.)
Another thing I did not record are most of the calls later in the afternoon of each blood draw and ultrasound. Those calls let me know when my next appointment would be and if there were any instructions. One of those calls is included as it happened during one of my live streams!
If you are going through your own IUI cycle, note that I've included my follicle counts, uterine lining measurements, and blood work results. These numbers do not necessarily indicate a good or bad cycle. Always ask your health care provider about any questions you have about your own results. I am not an expert in this area. I'm simply sharing my experience.
The video begins with the baseline IUI appointment, which is on day 4 of my cycle. Baselines usually happen around day 3 or 4. Typically, on the first day of full flow menstruation, that's when you call the fertility clinic to schedule the IUI baseline appointment. Thank you for sharing your story! I know exactly how you feel. I had surgery in March for endometriosis, then June 14th was my first medicated IUI. Before the IUI, I had to do follistim injections for 9 days, ganirelix injections for 4 days, then a trigger shot on my bum. After the IUI I had to do progesterone for 2 weeks. Sadly, the IUI didn't work. I'm currently do the injections again this week for IUI#2. Crossing fingers for us to have our baby! Baby dust to you!

This broke my heart! I suffered an ectopic pregnancy back in Nov 😔. 2022 shall be our year! Keep holding on to faith! ❤️
I'm so sorry for your loss, Roxy. I am still working on a video for it, but after IUI, we did IVF, which was also a failed cycle. But then the very next month I got pregnant naturally. Unfortunately that ended in a miscarriage at 10 weeks. For 2022, we're working on a new plan for growing our family. Best of luck to you! Don't give up!
I’m crying at how positive you are. My husband and I have been trying for the past year. We’ve just been told either iui or ivf will have to be our options so we’re about to do iui so this was so needed

I'm starting my journey next week - I appreciate the insight. Any additional information around chlomed? I'm really worried about side effects. Did they subside as soon as you stopped taking it? Also I have to do shots too.. any insight on those symptoms? Thanks!!
Hi Gesy! Clomid was a bit rough. I felt very out of it when I was on Clomid. But once I stopped taking it, the symptoms went away. As for shots, it depends what your doctor is trying to help your body do. Each prescription may come with their own side effects, some of which are good ones! I've talked to so many women about how they do their shots and what kind of reactions they get. For some people, they bruise easily, others don't. Some give themselves shots, others have someone help. Personally, I used to have a huge phobia of needles and I would pass out. But after going through fertility treatments, I can now do shots like a champ! Best of luck to you!

Hi Lynn, thanks for sharing your journey, and don’t be disappointed sending lots of good wishes to you. I know how disheartening it can be. I am on a similar journey did my first IUI last month and was absolutely broken when I got the negative results. Just did my second round 2 days ago and now waiting. Although I am fascinated with the process your clinic has with so many scans and test checking everything in detail. Just out of curiosity which country are you based in? I am in Australia and I had only 1 blood & Ultrasound scan at day 10 and straight transfer at day 12. Good luck to you for your IVF and hope you get your bundle of joy soon. :)

Thank you for sharing your story. I started this process a few weeks ago. My follicles were growing great on my left ovary. Unfortunately I do not have a left Fallopian tube. So we couldn’t move forward. Here’s hoping my right will grow on the next try. God Bless and Baby Dust!

aww . Were same i got surgery this year (2022) they removed my left fallopian tube . So i only have right tube and next week we trying to do iui . Hope goes well .

She is very lucky. I had major pain when they inserted the catheter. I yelled and tears came out of my eyes. Her experience is not what everyone might experience.

Me too.. I asked her to pause the procedure three times because of how much it hurt. I‘ll be having my second IUI tomorrow and I‘m so scared of it. Hope it will be better and less painful this time…

i have all those feeling on clomid on cycle 8 but nothing on clomid
Don't worry Dear.... My sister got 3stages IUI and 3 step IVF.... But all were negative result... Finally she consult one doctor and took one more IUI.... We had not confidant that because we thought couldn't get positive result in IVF.. IUI how was it possible 🤔.... But thank God from that IUI She got positive result... Now 6month completed...... Like....

@@nisthasingh6927 Miscarriages can happen no matter how the baby is conceived. After failed IUI and IVF cycles where I didn't get pregnant, I got pregnant naturally and then miscarried. Miscarriage is very common but not discussed very openly.

IVF does have better chances, but it is a big emotional and financial commitment. I hope you get the baby you are waiting for soon. Don't lose hope.

IUI is a great option to consider for couples who are having trouble conceiving on their own. It's a lot less invasive than IVF, so many couples try IUI before doing IVF.

I continue to share our journey through livestreams every Monday on my channel. All of the videos are available for replay. This year, we will continue trying to get pregnant but we are also currently going through licensing to become foster parents. We have a lot of love to give a child, and we are ready to give it any way we can.

We have unexplained infertility.

The ups and downs of going through any fertility treatments are rough. It's super important to take care of yourself. I had to take time off from trying to reset. I can totally relate to the feeling of losing hope. It can come and go and you'll know when the time is right to try again.
