- Vocal Coach Reacts To Famous Singers' FULL Power Vocals When They're on FIRE! Ken Tamplin
You’re going to have some serious fires to put out after today’s reaction!
We’re going to look at performances of “Famous Singers Full Vocals when they’re on FIRE”!
I’ll admit there were some great vocal performances with this one but I do think it’s also important to not get lost in comparing one vocalist to another based on how high of a note they can hit for instance.
For me it’s important to keep the focus on a musician’s artistry and uniqueness and to enjoy what they bring to their craft.
With that said, we’ll be looking at some great artists today including Mariah, Christina Aguilera, Demi Lovato, Beyonce, and Miley Cyrus.
I hope you enjoy the performances and let me know what you
thought!

When Mariah sang "I don't wanna cry" she was in her prime. At that time her voice was spotless. Would like to know something more on the damages that can be caused by whistling...
Andrea Done incorrectly it will result in loss of voice or nodules. Think of nodes as callouses only, unlike a runner, you really don't want callouses on something required to make a sound. Whistle isn't able to be done by everyone and you really need to learn how to do it properly or your head may explode. Kidding aside, done incorrectly you'll foul up your voice. If you're going to do it be sure to learn correctly. Did I mention you need to do it correctly?
As Ken said, incorrectly will cause issues. Mariah Carey was only able to sing in whistle register because she had natural nodules since she was very young. Without them, she wouldn't be able to possibly sing whistles.
Ken, thank you for your reply. I totally agree on the whistle thing, but just wanted to point out that that was the undubbed version of I don't wanna cry. Think it was in Tokyo (1996). Even if sometimes she uses pre recorded vocals, that concert was completely live. Don't you think that pulling the mic far away may be a stylistic choice? Once in a reaction you said "good mic use", I think it was Hero.
Anyway, thank you very much, would love to see more reactions from you of her performances.
I think that professional footage was dubbed from a Japanese concert.
Christina’s performance of Beautiful was 100% live. She really knows when and how to pull back the microphone. Also, being a televised performance, they probably adjusted the volumes during the post-production.
I know how to recognise when she lip syncs, that performance wasn’t the case.
Im with you, and no even when she pulls the mic far she stills can be heard, it’s just her voice is so big and loud ❤️
Beyoncé is amazing .
The weird and also impressive thing about mariah is that she always had nodules and she learned how to sing with them! I don’t think without it she would have so much control on the whistle register!
And for the clip i think it was out of sync because that clip is from 96’ aka her vocal prime and she never lip synced at that era
she dubbed a lot though so that might have been it
Please react to more Beyoncé vocals and help us break it down because I would love to get more insight into her performance singing
Thanks for the suggestion, Jack!
Fun fact Beyonce has that insane stamina cause she runs and sings to build that up Its soo insane how people don’t realise how hard it is I play guitar and that adds an exhaustion level but dancing moving is just another level
Helo Marks Cardio is essential to vocal training. Helps with breath control/ stamina etc.
I will correct some thing regarding lip sync. Christina and Mariah were not lip syncing, those videos are dubbed, but there was not playback involved
I dont know about christina but mariah does that because of how loud her voice is when she hits the high note . If she didn't pull the mic away it would sound rly bad or the mic would stop working because of her resonance
Christina wasn't lypsyncing. She's the worst doing it. She covers her face all the time when she's doing it.
Yeah, That I Don't Wanna Cry by Mariah Carey was different from the actual video to Live Performance.
The audio was used from London or somewhere in Daydream World Tour, because that video was from Tokyo which is different that's why it's not sync
@@liberatedfighter1173 so does Mariah
Beyonce is the Queen here!! How I did love this performances!!
Oh ,,,of course sharing the throne with Cristina,,,,She has a greater technique than I had expected!
No it's Christina and Ariana
@@goldranger5182 lmaoo are you on drugs

I love how he's reproducing those insane high notes while sitting with arms folded, lol! Ken, you're the man xD
the audio they used for that last Mariah performance was put in that official video bc there isn't footage of the original performance, but it wasn't lipsynced, just so you know. and about the whistle register, she has been able to hit it because of nodules, it is a consequence of damage she has in her voice ever since she was a teen bc she used to smoke from 12 to 18, but I don't think the actual whistling damaged her chords, but was rather a side effect that she learned to control for effect which imo is masterful. love your input tho
the reason mariah’s clip seems lipped on the 3rd one is because as you can tell by the sound difference, the audio from the part where mariah pulls away the mic is from a different show on the daydream tour
Aaron Kelly omg I was about to comment the same, this is so obvious
"Mariah is a hell of a vocalist"
- Whitney Houston
I swear it's like they picked the worst clips for Mariah. Lol
Terrible quality clips. Whoever did this compilation was probably afraid she'd outshine all the others. Lol
It was clearly done intentionally.
Also Mariah Carey has nodules
Jessie J is probably the most famous underrated singer out there! She won a talent show in China called The Singer, please react to some of her perfrmances!
Paulo- I have czcams.com/video/tO4xT0WjZCk/video.html
Christina ALWAYS pulls the mic back, it's like.. her thing. I always thought if she didn't do that the mic might explode LOL. It would be amazing if you reacted to her "I loves you porgy" or even better "a song for you" live performance with the AMAZING Herbie Hancock. Also, I think Miley has a beautiful voice, but that screaming bit was just awful. Have you seen her backyard sessions thingy? It's gorgeous, she does a Jeff Buckley lilac wine cover, also a Dolly Parton (her godmother oh my god!) Jolene cover.
Love you Ken!
You pull back the mic to avoid having way too much sound. We know that this technique is necessary, but that's not Ken's point. His point is that when you do pull back the mic that the sound should be different. That's why he thought she could be lip syncing...
John Tootallforbaseball no it’s not, there’s a bunch of videos that show when she sang with the mic far and still sound the same! It’s called project the voice
Man, Mariah Carey sure as hell supplies some massive eargasms. My chikdhood/teenage crush. Her voice *still* woos me to this day. 😍
Have you listened to anything from Epica yet? Great stuff. Give it a listen..thank me later. 🤘
Thanks for the suggestion, Ryan.
Great video! Just one thing about your comment on Mariah's singing style..She didn't start doing those "male cover songs" because she lost her voice. She did them because her record label wanted her to do more straightforward belted performances like Without You or Hero because many critics hated her vocal gymnastics, particularly her whistle register. But at the same time she was doing those "lower register" ballads, she recorded songs like Dreamlover, Anytime You Need a Friend, and Fantasy which all boast multi-octave verses that have plenty of mix and whistle register use, and those effortless chest to head to falsetto transitions that became so trademark to her music.
😊
Love these vocalsss! Great that you pointed out when the audience is more energized and engaged, the artists themselves get more energized with what they’re singing about.
Tyler Hackner That's right!!
Please react to beyonce
I'd LOVE to see your react to some recent performances (The Xperience/The Xtour) from Christina Aguilera! Her technique actually improved and i'd really like to know the opinions of an actual professional :)
Her voice/technique has always been such a wild and problematic subject aha
Thanks for the suggestions, Rxeken!
Yes!
Awesome reaction video ken!!☺🖒
Your range is INSANE. 😍😯
The I Don’t Wanna Cry video is dubbed, so the vocals are isolated and more clean. At a certain part of the video though, where she pulled the mic away, they inserted the undubbed vocals in the video... idk how they did it, but they did lol.
Christina pulls her mic back all the time, definitely not lip syncing. Love for you to react to her singing Its a mans world at the grammys.
can you please react to Tori Kelly best live vocals she one of the most youngest underrated vocal artist she amazing but people don't really pay attention to her much
The more I watch your videos the more I learn and the more I admire you. Especially when you match the notes so effortlessly 😍 you're amazing man!
I'm sure i'm not alone in saying i'd love to see ken do a BANG BANG cover lol
Great to hear artist feeding off the power of the audiance. I have always enjoyed these kind of concerts. Power for power.

Great as always Ken. Love the shirt. Have a fantastic weekend.
Thanks, Wilf! You too!
Love your shirt ken!!! You are my favorite channel. Glad your having fun
Great reaction video
Great stull😘✌🤙
Thanks, Cindy Sue! Sure appreciate that!
You slays your vocals on this video !
Thank you, Senysra Lovly!
You have reacted to a lot of vocalists such as Whitney Christina Celine and Mariah dimash and Sohyang. Pleases react more to Beyoncé such as her best live vocals by Archduke of Belgrade
Beyonce is WONDERFUL. Can't stand her as a person, but LOVE her voice and talent.
Great vid man, I think that Mariah clip looked a little sus when she pulled the mic away because the performance was dubbed, not sure for what? But it was definitely a live performance and she sounded just as good if not even better without it being dubbed!
Finally LMAO. Though, u didn't do the whole Stevie Wonder Tribute, you still pulled Bey in. Great Choice! ❤
I wish I could have found a vocal coach like you back in the days. I love your versatility in technique and genres. I'm 37 now, wonder if I could ever fix this voice of mine!
It's definitely not too late, A O!

Ken, please react to Yebba - My Mind. Such a incredible, touching performance and her runs are out of this world! Loving the material as always ✌️❤️
Hi Ken! Nice video! Really nice shirt by the way!
NorahAyne Greenan Thanks! Glad you like the video and shirt!

Ram M D Thank you!
Love the shirt!
I agree, Jessie J is EXTREMELY underrated!
😀
I find the control of mixing in power and range far more impressive when its called for to me thats a master class
Lmao I love that you thought Christina was lipsynching. Shows how amazing she is
Christina was not lip syncing at the CNN heroes.. it is one of her best live performances.
I always seem to forget just how powerful a singer you are, crazy
Thanks Pootis Pow!
Ken, i love your videos
Vektor- happy to hear that!
That Mariah performance where the mic was gone but still there was sound, it's because the footage is dubbed. 90s Mariah shows used to be 100% live, but they used to make her dub it afterwards to release it officially idk why, may be to get better audio quality or something. In 90s Mariah was in her prime with excellent vocals, she rarely lip synced back then.
When their on 🔥
Lol Ken 😂
AP S 🔥🚒
Hi Ken I'm a big fan and I've been wanting to get into singing. I've looked at your videos and wondered if you have videos on how how to sing but for deep voices but not high pitched singing.
Vibe S It's for all vocal types. I am a baritone.
Ken, beards are in, let see you grow it out. =)
Hey there Ken! Great video as always! :D Love it. I got a question I've always wanted to ask although, you know of any good studio singing microphones to use? That aint too expensive but still really good?
Warg You may want to post that question on the forum to see what other singers are using. I use a Neuman M149 through an Avalon 737 sp perm amp compressor. forum.kentamplinvocalacademy.com/
@@kentamplin Aah will do! Thank you Ken, I appreciate it. :)
Your amazing
React to Mariah Carey “Vision of love SNL” it’s her debut song and one of her legendary performance ever.
Amazing voices
Absolutely, Ramiro castro cabanillas!
Very Cool Ken
Glad you think so, Damien!
U remind me of my music teacher from high school. He used to tour with the doors as a production guy or something but y’all have the same vibe. He left the music industry at 60 to pursue his dreams of being a music teacher which always seemed crazy to me
Thank you.
Hi ken! Great al always..I love your videos..so well explained, with so much passion..what about to video reacting to "Stargazer" by Rainbow? Ronnie James Dio was awesome and the song is a masterpiece..saludos desde Argentina!
WOW all of the singers in perfect form ! Very beautiful. How can we keep best vocal form longer?
Athanas Learn correct technique.
@@kentamplin should check KTVA "How to sing better than anyone else", am I right? -😉✌.
Take away the vocal processors and pitch correction/auto tune and most pop stars sing like children. Modern equipment has allowed many so called stars to have careers. I hate auto tune!!! If you can't do it in a room with no mike and an acoustic guitar........ Then really you can't do it!!!
Vocal processors thicken, change, or even do multiple highs and lows at the same time. I like you too much for a dislike! There is a world of fake musicians and singers these days. Effects and equipment allow people to do things they truely cannot. Modern recording demands would have ruined Janis Joplin, and Grace Slick. Good equipment is a great natural voice expanded by volume and force. Bruce Dickensen, Ronnie James Dio, Chris Cornell, and of course my great love Annie Lennox ........... These are real singers with powerful technique and skills. I believe the same of you Ken, that's why I return again and again!!!
You can add Adam Lambert.
@@MasiaDe Ikr his cuckoo with no mic performance was mind-blowing
Still haven't done This Love from the Live 101 proof album from Pantera
That mike is bigger than your face😂cool😂
Haha! Cool!!
How about pulling out those unsung heroes Ken, backing vocalists that wipe the floor....Sam Brown? (Joe Browns Daughter/Pink Floyd vocalist...lots of these guys don’t suffer ego and are authentically giving us their absolute best....from “the right place”....again, constructive stuff Ken 😉👍
Random Elvis
I completely agree, some backing vocalists are amazing let’s not forget Luther van dross was originally a back up singer.
Unsung great vocalists like Lucy Woodward ( rod stewart) all excellent backing singers
Yupp, still ❤️ Demi 😁
AP S Demi is a powerhouse!
For Arianna being so tiny, she puts out crazy powerful notes
Rock on! 😀
Could you possibly do a vocal coach reacts to Paul Stanley, Bret Michaels, Vince Neil maybe some extras are thrown in there?
That python skin shirt! Damn! 🔥🤘🔥
Sanjay Menon 🐍🐍🐍
Ken's shirts always rock! 😎
You mentioned a great name --- Linda Perry --- would love to see you do a reaction on some of her material.
Thank you for the still loving the Songbird Supreme which is MARIAH CAREY!
Sing man! You betta sing!
Benn Elizar 👍
I think that when Mariah pulled away on the mic, it was the undubbed performance at a different place, and they just put it on top of the Tokyo version
In my humble advice, Christina has better controle on her voice. And her tone is as clear as cristal water.
I've missed JHud. Btw, great shirt again, Ken!
Ko van den Boom Jennifer is a beautiful singer.
Ken, I would love to see you react to Joacim Cans from HammerFall or Joacim Brodén from Sabaton. =)
Thanks for the suggestion, ArchangelosAter!
Would be great If you react to any Songs of Muse live 🤤😊
Great Video btw, keep it up!
Mariahs I don't Wanna Cry was dubbed. But that tour was one of the last tours where she didn't lipsync at all. Butterfly was where she started lipSyncing, primarily due to the years of singing constantly. With her songs being vocal challenges, her chords didn't have the stamina.
What are your thoughts on nodules. Mariah has spoken about them and her vocal condition could dramatically improve if she had them surgically removed. Would you think that too risky on the voice or not?
Ken, here's something I don't get: are you supposed to cover or spread as you go higher up in pitch? Generally, I have learned that you're supposed to cover and narrow your vowels, but in some videos I've been seeing lately, including some of yours, you would say "well this singer spread his vowels, because it's easier as he goes up." So, please tell me which one it is, or if maybe it depends on what part of your high range you're singing? Is it that, when you're mixing you're supposed to spread, and then when you go higher you're supposed to cover? Thanks in advance.
Rosannasfriend- This is a great questions for my free vocal forum! You can post all of your singing related questions there for feedback forum.kentamplinvocalacademy.com/
Thank you! It will be interesting if you do some reaction to good extreme vocalist who have also good clean voice. Maybe Amorphis or wintersun or others ^_^ Doesnt matter if you dont do it :). You ROCK!
Thanks for the suggestions!
Hey Ken, please react to Russell Allen live performances, he' amazing.

Munkee F10W3Rr1ng 💜💜💜
Mariah Carey of course!🌹🎵💙 Songbird Supreme 🐦 she can still slay like she did in her prime💯🥀🥀
God given voice.
PLEASE PLEASE REACT TO SILENT NIGHT COVER BY DEMI LOVATO
I totally agree about Jessie J.
10:25 the vocals here are from a different performance that didn't have any video footage, that's why the vocals don't quite match her movements. It's the same footage just different audio.
Queen Of Vegas it's just the undubbed version
How many tigers 💪
Two things. First Beyoncé is unparalleled. Second, you are serving vocals right along with with NO effort!!!!
Thanks, Pena!
Hi can you try to react to taya smith singing live tyy💕
That evil laugh in beginning wow
Elias Chaar- Mwuahaha
A video like this without one of Whitney Houston is a shame, She was the ultimate Force. Great reaction Ken
Ken, can you do a Vocal Coach reacts to Richard Ashcroft’s Virgin recordings? That’d be cool!
Mariah's performances was dubbed (because of Tommy)
I liked what I saw ☺ 👍. Is it possible that you could comment Bono singing live? Please...
Hey Ken, you need to evaluate something from Mike Farris. He's absolutely one of the best!
🤙
Ken, As usual great video. Not sure how I missed this one last year. Loved the Sia video also around the same time last year, and she definitely has a style all her own and writes great tunes. You laughed pretty hard at that one "hat". Totally agree that Jesse J is way underknown/under appreciated. Love Beyonce, but have to say(in my non professional opinion) that when she was the same age as all the others on this comp video Mariah was the QUEEN! Just sayin
Glad you enjoyed it!
The one where Mariah was singing I don’t wanna cry, the video creator switched the audio from the Tokyo performance(original) to the Rotterdam performance(lower quality).. both phenomenal performances though
Friendly suggestion... have a keyboard or guitar nearby so you can point out what pitch the super high notes are. Jesse J was singing G5s in a pretty chesty sound! Wow!
Ken, I pose this question to you.....this was a great insight video. I know Ariana and Bey's voices are in good shape .However the rest are struggling. How long does it usually take for a singer to lose that upper register if not properly maintained? In your course do you do you teach maintenance?
bibi wolf Every person is unique but repeated misuse and overuse will cause your voice to breakdown. Learning proper technique is key. I teach proper technique in my course so you can avoid problems in the first place.
@@kentamplin Thank you so much for answering my question. God Bless
