I was shocked at the use of real instruments in the Pixel Remaster! It sounded great! The Japanese flute as really inspired me to rethink how I play Terra's theme in the future!😊
I was shocked about how fucking dumb your comment is.
I just started playing the Pixel Remaster last night. Sat at the title screen for like 20 minutes just listening to the music. First time in over 20 years 😂
litterally had the same experience. Never played a final fantasy game before, but when that first menu screen popped up i was hooked form the very beginning@@asguy113
The best version is the hack that give General Leo as an official character in your party in the world of ruins...
Fantastic work on all these videos. I would definitely be interested in the Chrono games and some significant mod projects for these games.
Oh my god Rythian I haven’t seen your name for all these years it’s been a long time! Glad to know you’re still semi uploading

If only they used era appropriate fonts in the pixel remake. Those new arial or whatever they use here look so out of place
you can change the font pretty easily if you're on pc
@@phoenixero8161 I am sure there will be mods for fonts, but it'd be great to see this level of care from the devs
@@phoenixero8161 All right, so what's your solution for if you're not on PC?
@@cosmosofinfinity i specifically said "if you're on pc" because i don't know any solution if you're not on pc :(
Oh god, you're right. I havent played the pixel remaster, but for fxs sake, you think that someone at the development place would take a split second of their time notice...."hmmm, this doesn't mix well". If it aint broke, dont fix it!
Uodate: July 6 version 1.0.6 patch dropped. patch notes: store.steampowered.com/news/app/1173820/view/3325361215004048079?l=english
Update: March 28 version 1.05 of PR dropped. The patch notes are substantial, so it's worth giving a glimpse. At the very least, for what's relevant in the video, you can't swap to espers you don't have anymore. Also, outside the update, it's been brought up that the imperial salute animation is still used elsewhere in the game outside of the original flashback cutscenes. That's the only instance where it was changed.

And now 1.0.6 is out with another big list of improvements.
So what games got "Wind God Gau" and "Psycho Cyan"?
The Long Awaited port review has arrived, I was waiting for this video for months!
One mod that was not mentioned in this video is "The World Reborn" mod for the delisted Android port on Steam. This mod basically redoes all of the sprite work in the game, undoes any censorship, swaps the ost with a fully orchestrated OST (including a singing Celes during the Opera scene), has the extra GBA content, and it has a ton of other minor changes and fixes and it has allows for a ton of tinkering for the perfect tailored experience to the user. In my opinion that is the definitive way to play this game, but it requires a mod to play.
It is mentioned at 15:53. It's called "Atma Weapon Mod" now. What you mentioned is an old version of it.
Atma Weapon mod lets you pick and choose different things from A World Reborn. Can play with original ost and sprites, or other different combinations of A World Reborn and other stuff. This is the closest thing to definitive in my view, but Square Enix pulled it. I don't like the PR.
That’s how I played the game and I loved it.
how do i get a copy of the android port for steam? would love to try this mod
@@wtfkc Piracy is the only option I'm afraid as Square stopped selling that version on Steam.
Thank you so much on the work on port comparison!
This is some very very extensive reseach.
Wow this was awesome!! Sooooo much detail all put into this video. Thanks man :D
The pure idea of this video is just awesome, helping us to choose which version to play is really a great and I can't thank you enough for such info given!
It was really cool to see a history of one of my favorite games! What really helped me enjoy the game better is the mods you mentioned. Not only did they help me fix some specific issues but it got me looking into more mods which fixed even more issues.
Thank you for making these videos, really helped me with figuring out what version of these games I wanted to play.
Incredible job. Thank you for doing this. If had to have been an enormous amount of work. Cheers!
Thank you for this series. It's been very useful and enlightening, both for practical 'which version' reasons and a wonderful history of how these games have changed over the years, and a look at the choices that went into the PR versions.
I hope they’ll remake this game using the octotraveler engine
God I would Kill for a 3D Remake with that gameplay style, it would work so well
I read that one of the developers of Final Fantasy VII Remake is interested in remaking Final Fantasy VI. So we might possibly get one after the VII remake trilogy, fingers crossed!
@@GuardianKyle nah, they'll ruin its story
@@mecky1989Exactly. I love 7 but 6 has a much deeper and more engaging story that doesn’t need to be touched
@@GuardianKyleFuck no, Sakaguchi himself stated that this is impossible and would change the game completely + story elements wouldn’t work in 3D.
Unbelievably complete vid! superb work thanks!
Thank you a lot for this videos man. Because of you I finished the 4 FF of the PSP era and now finishing FFV on GBA. I might as well play the FFVI Advance with sound restauration or some other mods
... Thank you for this series. It has been both informative, and entertaining.
The GBA extras are fantastic and it is a shame that they are not included on the pixel remaster
The pixel remasters are poor all round . Really could have done with options for all the different music and graphic options + the extra content being a toggle. It would be expensive to do but damn would it be a dream
I think Pixel Remaster are based on the original NES/Famicom and SNES/SFC ports of the game better graphics (probably), the colors and some sprites look similar to GBA but they're all based on the originals, also best music and a very little extra new things such Auto Battle from Final Fantasy III (PSP) which is the only thing kept to the remasters, also Bestiary and I'm not sure if they're a audio player too, I've only tried 1 and 2 for Android and didn't like it so much
why did I put this here
oh, graphic options are terrible, only adds scanlines to the whole screen, I thought it changes the graphics to original games at first to me, but atleast it's worth with the achievements and quality of life changes such as faster animations (especially you don't have to wait so long to rest at the inn), also I'm not sure why I can't run with the analog stick but I can when I tap the screen to walk on Android or probably my issue
Typical Square Enix. Probably doing it so they can re-release the games again with "enhanced content" and get you to pay for it.
@@Lucifronz that is what I thought. I will buy it only when decide to release a full version.
when have they done that before @@Lucifronz
Good job, thanks for the quick release.
I couldn't find a better video on the subject. Soon I'll get back to the world of FF mods and your video got me covered for now and has a lot of useful info, thanks !
I really appreciate these videos. FF6 is my favorite game and I like having such a comprehensive video outlining all the changes.
Thank you for this greatly produced video!
Fantastic video! Thanks for doing this hard work!
Nice job! Thanks!
I'm currently re-playing SNES modded ROSE version. :)
Thanks for doing this! FFVI is my favorite game of all time, been sticking hard core to the SNES version, still have the original FFIII cartridge. I never really saw all the bugs you mentioned, but I never really went looking for them either.
Out of all the pixel remasters, they really outdid themselves on FFVI. The music was absolutely gorgeous, and I love that they took the extra time to not use the same spell animations as the other pixel remasters, but redo all of them to fit the originals.
probably learned their lesson after seeing how much people were having to mod them to fix them
The music, Decisive Battle, I think Remaster not good as Original.
They *know* how beloved 6 is to the people who would buy it and they elevated it to what they always meant it to be. Squenix renews its goodwill once more.
This is a very capable review. Thank you very much for uploading this!
What a work ! Thank you for all.
Awesome video 😊 But one thing you failed to mention, on the pixel remaster (on mobile version anyway, I haven't tried the pc version yet) you can switch the camera angle to the classic 2D way while you ride a chocobo similar how you did in ff2 to FF5. So no mode 7.
But mode7 is amazing, you can explore the world with the Chocobo :(
I love your videos. They're always well-researched and informative. I would watch a Chrono series review, as I did just pick up CT on Steam due to the recent update.
Love the dedication you put on those videos!
Great video! I think nm it would be bbn interesting to do a video on all the different versions of Shadowman
The super nes version was #1 to me. Played back in the early 90s when I was about 12 years old, did all nighters for weeks mastering the game & this was the title that actually got me hooked on Final fantasy. I actually have A pristine copy of the game til this day. One of the best titles in the franchise.
Same, I own 4 SNES cartridges. FF2, FF3, Secret of Mana, and Chrono Trigger.
Not even sure if they work been about 10 years since I tried any of them I just play them on emulator these days... but they represent unbridled fun times from my childhood 25-30 years ago. Plus they probably still have all my saves on them, not that I'll ever play them again.
Sure, but if a mod let me play an inferior port of my favorite game that had more content than the original, but restored everything bad about the port back to how the original was, I would automatically prefer that one just for the new content.
I definitely agree that's the one to play.
This was my experience exactly
"when I was about 12 years old" No need to look further, this is the only reason why. The best video game era is always the time when you were a teenager and was hanging out with your friends.
Awesome videos as always. Do you have interest in covering the different ports of Dragon Quest games? It would be nice to see an in-depth video like this about that series.
Also, you said you'd cover the hd-2d opera scene later but didn't do it lol
Thank you very much for these videos, they are super useful!
First time seeing this channel. Loved the vid. Take my subscribe.
I actually played the TWUE right before the pixel remaster was released, my first FF ever. Incredible game. I had been watching all your FF port comparisons before so I was anticipating this video for a long time! Amazing work.
What's weird about Uematsu's comment on the opera scene is, when hearing all the other languages they sounded like proper opera. Canonically it makes sense for Celes to not sound like an opera singer but man it would have been beautiful.
At least for Italian and Spanish I can tell you they sound as amateurish as the English one.
Thanks a lot for all your hard work on this videos, looking forward to the Chrono ones and any other you tackle. I'm personally waiting to see if they release this pixel remasters physical on console, but tbh the mods seem kinda necessary in some cases so i might go with Steam at some point.
These vids are awesome! I haven't seen anyone else go into nearly this level of depth on all the different versions.
Great job on these videos! I'd like to see a port comparison for tales of phantasia
This is gonna be a long shot, but I'd really love to see an all-encompassing port review on the various ports of Puyo Puyo Fever, especially considering that game has had at least 10 different versions released across multiple platforms.
But, as someone who rarely comments, allow me to say that your videos are so informative and entertaining, they tickle the super nerdy side of me that looks up this info in short bursts on my own time, but to have it all in a single video is beyond informative, convenient, and helpful. Major kudos for all your hard work! I'm really looking forward to those upcoming Chrono videos, especially Cross, since it holds a special place in my heart, as it was the RPG that got me into RPG's.
nice pfp
I can pitch in there, since I played a few of them. It mostly boils down to presentation and features. Obviously the handheld versions of it are going to have compressed/more pixelated looking graphics, and more compressed sounds/music, but I think the DS version is the best for both presentation and content. It's the only version that allows you to freeplay with up to 8 players (including CPUs in that count), and has different rulesets to play with as well. It's also the only version that has a world map view between battles, and the character expression circles on the bottom screen. This would be true for any DS/3DS port of a Puyo game, by the way, these are the only versions that sport that effect.
The other versions are all basically the same, except the console ones like PS2 just have 3D effects on the Puyo as the pop.
Here's a request I've done several times: Think you could do a short "Modding Highlight" video of sorts for Final Fantasy 6 Old Version? A full resprite project in the style of Brave Exvius literally JUST got completed, and it's such an in-depth work that I feel making it known to more people would be phenomenal!
no shit?
Any idea where to find the mod? Googling is getting me nothing
@@branblue5188 It's currently only in a modding Discord, same one that does most PR stuff, I think the creator said he'll make a Steam post once things like Status Effects are properly implemented
@@Chaoszidenrules @Branblue Tried replying the other day, but it seems the message didn't go through. It's officially released on Nexus mods now! Look it up, it's called "Final Fantasy VI Brave Steel Mod v1.0"
Fantastic. Very detailed work. Congratulations to you and the team
Fantastic work on this videos!
And as a little request, I think you should tackle the Ys series. Those games have a LOT of ports and different versions.
Awesome work here, and in all your comparisons.
Surprises me that in the last decades this game has been remastered so many times and there is still not a definite version.
I wish FF6 had the FF1/FF2/FF4 PSP remake. :( That would have been the definitive if Square would have done it.
Thanks so much for this! I'm playing through III - VI of the Pixel Remasters, and I'm currently midway through V. These are my first experiences with all of these games, aside from briefly trying the original iOS port of V. As someone accustomed to the Pixel Remasters and looking back- the backgrounds and spell effects look great in the Pixel Remasters, but the character sprites and UI look better in the original. I especially like the dimmer color palate in the SNES version of VI.
I've been debating if I want to do the Pixel Remaster for VI as well or do a different version. I think I'll stick to the Pixel Remaster for convenience's sake, but I'll definitely be using a font mod. I didn't realize how bad the Pixel Remaster font was until seeing more footage of earlier versions. One question though that maybe I missed in the video- does the Pixel Remaster use the GBA translation?
A bit late but, I believe so?
It definitely doesn't use the original SNES translation
Fantastic work as usual.
I’m sure you must be neck deep in projects right now, but if you want suggestions for later l’d love to see a comprehensive port review for Odin Sphere since the remaster is so different to the original.
I'd love to see you tackle the Wild Arms series. The original game was remade for the PS2, but there hasn't been a game in the series since the PS3/PSP days. I'd love for someone to talk about the series and the things it did differently.
Amazing videos. Keep up the great work!
When the GBA version was announced, I was stupid happy, as FF6 is my favorite FF game. Despite the first mobile version getting some hate for the character art, I really loved that version. I got it both on mobile and steam.
GBA SP was such a good system for 16bit RPGs
@@drowningin Best handheld imo.
@@Xtoffer87 its only problem was 2 face buttons instead of 4 so it made a lot of ports clunky, otherwise yes it was my favorite
Looks like they took that off steam. I can't buy it anymore :/
@@stevenmerrell5565 I have a GBA emulator for my IOS and i have the rom also. Free FF6 for my phone when i commute.
One thing and I don't think this ever gets mentioned. There are a handful of rorschach images in the SNES and Advance version which were removed in Pixel Remaster. Most notably the clouds when flying the airship and the water in the phantom forest.
I'm excited to see your chrono trigger and cross reviews!
Great details. Thank you!
Something I don't think you mentioned. The PS1 version of VI came out as a standalone release in PAL territories. The anthology contained IV and V instead (Chrono Trigger didn't come out until the DS port).
Yup, that was the first time I played FFVI. No reason to play that over the SNES version though, it's more or less the exact same, but with slower loading times.
@@robinmattheussen2395 we never got the snes version either
@@robinmattheussen2395 We only got PS1.
Also, the ps1 version has more content than snes, isn't censored, and the load times aren't that big a deal.
I've played ff9. It's really not that bad.
Also as shown by screen grabs from the Wiki, it has bug fixes compared to the NA Version. I have never noticed any slowdown in that version, but it also runs at 50hz anyway. So is slower. I was never really bothered by long loading times myself but I had experience IX's already at that point. So maybe it was just how I experienced games before that anyway.
@@robinmattheussen2395 load times are REALLY a no issue now that you can pop that ps1 disc in a pc and run it with an emulator. It really became my fav version. I'm also probably bias as I bought the damn thing like 22 years ago with one of my first pay checks.
I really think it will be a popular choice on the steam deck to emulate if someone doesn't want to rebuy it on steam then proceed to go though mods to fix it up back to something super famicon/snes like. It's pretty damn easy to get a disc at a flea market or ebay to copy the rom.
Nice comparison breakdown! With so many different versions it's hard to pick a favorite. I guess that is what modding is for. I do however prefer the music of the original over the remaster.
I love these videos. They helped me figure out which games to buy while buying all the mainline ff games. Much appreciated, I'm having a blast playing through them.
What a great video. So well done!
You are doing the Lord's work here. Comparisons like this help us plebs keep up with our nostalgia when it's time to revisit our childhood. Thanks for such a thorough job.
One goof you didn't cover--in the Magitek Research Facility, there's supposed to be a hook that pulls you back up out of the pit where Kefka throws Ifrit and Shiva. I usually head down there first so I can get those two espers and the save point before I explore the rest of the facility. That hook is not there, there's no way to get out of the pit now without going forward. So I missed the Zephyr Cape, Dragoon Boots, and a couple other things.
On which version? Its been a long time since I played the original cart but the gba port was definitely a one way.
@@joeb6750 In the original version for sure.
Warp/Teleport Stones do work
@@kirusaru Wow I never thought to try the teleport stone I had...:( Thanks though that's good to know.
If I understood the patch notes correctly, it looks like this has been fixed as of the most recent patch
Thank you so much for this series! I'd love to see you do the Klonoa HD remasters when they come out.
awesome
Thank you for this amazingly detailed comparison of the different versions of the game.
Something I was hoping to be reviewed, is the differences in stats and potency. in SNES, Edgar could still so massive dmg with Ultima. Where as in the GBA version, it would hit for hundreds of dmg, and you'd need to give Ultima to an actual caster character, in order to deal good dmg with Ultima.
While this ruins the "everyone can be anything" system of SNES, it did make the characters far more unique from eachother, leading to building to their strengths. (also showing off their strengths in the added dungeons)
Does anyone know if the pixel remaster has done this? Does Sabin have his normal low magic defense with normal dmg scaling as the SNES version? or is it like the GBA version where he has a hidden multiplier, taking more magic dmg than anyone else (i think it was x2 dmg taken) mostly since he was too strong of a character, and is pretty much his only down side, making him less OP in the GBA version.
If you've got the answer, tell me i'm looking to play ff6 again and want to know.
@@mateuswill1 If you want to play the game, try the Brave New World mod perhaps ? It's made for the SNES version, has been designed with people discovering the game in mind, and come with an exhaustive 8 pages manual designed to be printed.
Very comprehensive! I think as a first time player with no nostalgia at play, the pixel remaster with a small handful of mods sounds like the way to go.
Thanks for the amazing video and review sir! ❤
These videos are always the best. Amazing !!!!
There's still a lot about woosley's translation i really, really like,. Mainly how Kefka was just insane, and a lot of lines like celes saying "i'd wish i'd never been born". He wrote literally, the most memorable lines of FF6.
While under an insane amount of pressure and with little direction from Japan.
That would happen when you butcher all of the good original ones

Very useful info! Thanks!
If possible in the future, it would be neat to see load time comparisons between PSX/PS3 and PS2 (fast mode). If the difference is night and day, it might be less of a dealbreaker.
If it’s anything like the ps1 chrono trigger port, those load times are baked into the game and aren’t just disc read dependent :(
I'm really curious about the Mega Man Zero games. I know when the PC remasters came out there were a lot of issues so I held off buying them, but I haven't looked at them since.
Excellent video, thanks! Please do Chrono Trigger next 👍🏻
I've been waiting for this, time to see it!
I would love to see you tackle the ports of The World Ends With You, mainly because they’re so different and that game deserves more exposure.
Hey Austin! Huge fan. You make incredible quality gaming archival content and I can't say enough how much i admire your work.
I'm not sure how much extra work this would be, but do you have any way of linking to different versions of songs showcased? Or, are there certain engines or phrases you use to help locate the songs that you showcase, such as for example, 'ps1 FFVI ost', or do you end up trying other sorts of means to sample the tracks from bygone era?
The pixel remaster OSTs are awesome, recommend them just for that first lol Awesome video, so many changes throughout ports. Love to learn this stuff.
Excellent video, thank you
This is gonna be awesome, I’ve been so excited for this since the pixel remasters started coming out! Personally though, the SNES with a patch will always be my favourite. Also first comment somehow.
Playing through VI for the first time on the pixel remaster and really enjoying it so far. Only mod I've made is to swap in the snes font
wow this is so detailed ! just wonder what is the different among all this version and i found this video .this answered all my question ! amazing !!
austin, a question, so the pixel remaster has less content than the previous ios version, correct? and the pixel remaster in ios can not vary in font for the text and colors or intensity of color, like the pc steam release, is this correct? thanks for the vid, ill stay tune for radical dreamers, and would be nice a saga frontier one now that went remastaer. cool!
Great series. A question regarding the pixel remaster: does anyone know if you can still one-shot Intangir with Gau's Mu rage? The one where he throws it in a pitfall
Nope. Snare keeps missing whether it's vanished or not. Can still Rasp it to death though.
@@vandaldandee aw that's a shame. :(
Thanks for letting me know tho! Does using rasp cause it to cast meteor on death? I seem to remember it did but it's been a while
@@XKinerojiX It doesn't. I'm not sure if that's because it doesn't have the MP to cast Meteor, or if putting its MP to zero just skips it. Either way, it's a safe but slow way to take it out.
I found this channel through and subscribed for this series, but now that it's over.... well, I guess I can stick around lol

Great video! Thanks
My favorite installment in the series!
Great video, too!
I REALLY wish these pixel remasters would be released on Nintendo Switch, I would buy them all day one. I don't trust Square Enix when it comes to mobile versions.
Given how these six games in specific are definitely more associated with Nintendo than PlayStation, they would be losing out on a lot of money if they didn’t port them to Switch.
If they do release them, I hope they do something similar to Danganronpa Decadence. Digitally, you can get the games individually, but physically, it’s all-in-one cartridge.
Considering how Adventures of Mana as well as Romancing SaGa 2 and 3 started off on mobile before getting any kind of port, you may have to hope that it hits mobile before seeing any console release at all.
@@paperluigi6132 Your comment is bad square hasn't had a relationship with Nintendo for almost 3 decades
I dunno if it's like this everywhere, but at least in mexico the Google Play versions of the Pixel Remasters are outright twice as expensive as the Steam releases, so yeah, would be nice to have this in other plataforms, sometimes the Eshop has regional prices so there's a chance it would be closer to the steam pricing
@@MrWhis-fe5hs I mean, they did put 6 on the SNES Classic Edition, and have been doing handheld ports for a while. I have 6 mainline Final Fantasy games sitting on my shelf, along with other Square Enix games.
So at this point I know they are all old, but I would like to see your opinion on all the Lunar Silver Star Story versions. Personally for nostalgia reasons I always lean toward the PS1 version, but the PSP version is pretty nice. I want to love the GBA version, but man it has issues.
Amazing work!
Thank you for this video. I've been meaning to try out Final Fantasy VI for quite a while now. And I found Final Fantasy Anthology for the PS1 (I still have a working PS2 and adequate PS1 memory cards).
Just out of curiosity, does the PS2 help with the load times? Also, is there a non-spoiler source that may help me avoid the more serious bugs and avoid missing out on cutscenes?
Even emulation doesn't fully fix the load times I'm afraid but IMO, you'll get used to it over time. You could try the IGN walkthru guide as it doesn't provide detailed spoilers of the cutscenes during gameplay.
@@barneys4236 well I couldn't emulate FF6 even if I wanted to, not without a PC anyway lol
Very interesting video, final fantasy 6 is my favorite of the series, and this was a good way to rerelease the game in my opinion, not the best of course but still way better than the previous mobile/steam version, the remade soundtrack is good, and it even has a mod for restoring the original snes ost for those that prefer the original, it’s really sad that they didn’t include all the gba bonus content, specially when the previous version did have it and now it’s unavailable (officially anyway), otherwise this would have been the definitive ff6 version, hopefully it will be later included with a mod, or maybe square-enix will include it in a future patch, but knowing them it will surely be a dlc of some sorts (if they decide to add the bonus content at all, so prefer to put my faith in the modding community rather than In Square enix)
Hi, sorry to bother you but do you know mod for pixel remaster who restore GBA content like the 4 nex esper and the two optional dungeon?
I'd say that SNES version is still the best. Especially with TWUE. It's not essential, but it does give it a more polished feel. My biggest issue with the pixel remaster is that is has less graphical fidelity than the SNES version. The sprites just don't look good.
It really just looks worse. That's how I feel about these "remasters," there's always a better looking version, at the very least for the 3 SNES games certainly (and with FF1 I would easily take PS1 any day).
FF6's original look is especially timeless with a CRT or good CRT shader. It didn't need this. It would be more respectful to the game's legacy just release a lazy packaged emulator and rom.
On a crt tv you cant even see the pixelation. I dont have the remasters. But the snes version played on a crt is epic. Everything is smoothed out.
This is me responding to your request for requests, months later, as I plowed through FF1 PRM earlier in the week and am ready to tackle the remaining five now. =) First, and most importantly, thank you so much for your exhaustive detail. Repeating yourself in reviews is a pain in the ass, but you did it with a balance that gets someone what they need if they're only watching one as well as in a way that wasn't tedious for someone who watched all six videos in a row, like I did. Haha.
Now for the actual request - this might be heretical to some, but I'd absolutely love to get your input on the various Zelda games. I only played one back in the day, but I know I'd like to be as familiar with them as I am with the FF franchise. And while I presume there've been fewer ports overall, I'm sure the modding community is as committed over there are they are here. =)
Thanks again, boss. These videos are invaluable.
You're my man of the whole Port History of Videogames :) Good Job and when will be a new moment for seeing dogo again ? :D
So after seeing this series, this is the list I've taken to for playing different versions
1 and 2- psp remake
3- 3d remake
4 psp complete edition or 3d remake. Depending on the style you want
5 and 6 are fine with the pixel remasters
Great work on this series btw
Pretty sure for 3 PR is the best option considering the fixes it does, including fixing the final dungeon what is so bad in other versions many people just recommend playing the game until you reach the final dungeon and then just stop playing the game.
@@V-Jes That's what I did with the DS remake, played it until the last dungeon, to be fair I wasn't in love with the game beforehand though. I'm sure I would have sloughed through if I had loved the game.
This looks right to me, though a lot of people are gonna say pixel remaster for 3 as well because they don’t like the changes the remake made
I think the namingway patch is good for 4.
My alltime favorite video game. I usually beat it every year or two. Gets me in the feels every time. What a soundtrack!!!
Maybe it’s purely for nostalgic reasons, but I keep on playing the original SNES version only.
Same here.
I played this on GBA as a kid and have beaten the GBA version either on original hardware or emulated several times. Maybe I’ll pick up the pixel remaster, it looks nice and some light visual modding would be neat
@@weabootrash5891 all I know for sure about the GBA vs SNES version is that the SNES has superior music quality.
You are right to play the SNES version :). I tried others, and they weren't even worth the try.
oh wow... listening to the music again brings back so many childhood memories!
The video I've been waiting for!
Leaning very much on SNES/GBA side (Grew up playing the GBA vanilla ver.)
Because among many changes, mobile and PR ver. have background drawn in completely different way than characters/enemies. They feel detached from the world and feels like a puppet show.
I wanted to love the GBA version, but the soundchip for that handheld is like nails on a chalkboard, even with the sound restoration patch lol.
I really enjoyed the pixel remaster for what it is, a convenient port but also I haven't played this game for 20 years and it still made me incredibly nostalgic and reminded me why this is one of the greatest games ever made!
question for you, are the character sprites as terrible as they look? I don't understand why they seem to keep making them worse then the snes original, but i haven't played this version, so was just wondering
still seems like the snes is the best way to play it, as the remixed music isn't bad, but again, doesn't seem to compare to the original
@@Bjorick im the gba crowd, the addition of bonus hard dungeons was really necessary for an otherwise very easy game.
@@anafu-sankanashi8933 Are the pixel remasters do not include the added contents from the GBA?
@@rdu239 nope.
@@anafu-sankanashi8933 Ahw, so they rererepolished the original super famicom version?
Nice vid, AustinSV.
I have the Pixel remaster collection for Steam :D though I never quite got around to playing it lol..
now I know a thing or two about it.. :D
FF6 and 4 are my favorites though I probably did enjoy playing most of them lol..
This video definitely earned a sub from me
