Awh, I am a 67 yr old woman and at different times in my life, I have been deeply in love with all of these beautiful souls, they saved me through the tough times, bless them and still love them, TY!!! ❤😊
You are my age.my friend and I tried to crash a party at Johnny Cashes house once. He had a pool shaped like a guitar. My friend was barefoot with no shirt on so we didnt stand a chance of getting in.

I’m 51 and regret that by the time I was mature enough to appreciate country music, the highwaymen were just legends.

STANDING ON THE SHOULDERS OF GIANTS, AND THEYRE BACKING BAND WAS BRILLIANT.
I have believed for a long time that Kris Kristofferson is and will remain one of the great poets of our time. His lyrics dive deep into the heart. His music resounds and the lyrics touch the soul. Thank you sir.
Well written comment, Robert. Your words captured Mr. Kristofferson's genius. His writing touches our soul with or without the music. The music just gives the words another layer. Thank you again for the comment, sir.
I agree completely. I grew up listening to all of these great men and although I respect them all, I truly believe that Mr. Kristofferson's poetry will ring strong throughout time.
I couldn't have said it any better myself the song brings tears to my eyes very beautiful
I have only started to listen to him in the last year or so, and learning to play his songs. I totally agree. The best lyricist ever in my opinion x
Very well put and I couldn't agree with you more
Who - of all of singer songwriters who ever lived - wrote better poetry and soul-moving lyrics than Kris Kristofferson??
I love how humble Kris is, you can see the admiration and the love in his eyes as he watches Willie sing and play his song, the same thing can be said with how he looks at all of them through the whole concert. He has the deepest respect for all of them and it shows with his actions and his expressions. Kris is a class act.
Oh yes and more
Brilliant concert
You are quite right!
yes and at the 3 minute mark you ca see jennings say something to Kris and Kris replies, 'that's my song and willie in background smiles so proudly great guitar solo.
PRICELESS ....So very sad that they couldn't carry on into the 2022 ....sure could have used some uplifting music.... Priceless performances with some truly great singers 🎶🎼🇨🇦💘🎵😍
There will never be another group like this.
Agree
The life of Kris is an example to everyone to follow your follow your dreams, to turn your back on a successful army career, give it all up to work as a janitor to try and meet Johnny Cash and hopefully get him to sing his songs. His music has been part of my life since 1970 and I feel blessed to have heard it.
There will never be country legends such as these four "outlaws". Together as The Highwaymen or individually as Johnny, Waylon, Willie & Kris they are the best of the best.
I agree !
Totally agree, but also check out the Flatlanders, another bunch of great solo artists getting together
No one can play a guitar like Willie and no one ever will again.
Without a doubt. Brilliant

The Missourian - but Waylon was very powerful in the part he sang.

Very very true
The look on Kris's face as he watches Willie bring his masterpiece to life is unreal 🙂
Obviously ft
Yes, I noticed that look, too ... and, of course, Kris was hearing Willie's natural voice, unedited by the pitch correction that has been applied in this CZcams video upload. If that ain't sad, then I don't know what is.
Yup!
And to think Kris doubted his singing ability and his equal stature within the group. He belongs on the Country Mount Rushmore as much as his heroes.
He's a poet, he's a picker, he's prophet, he's a pusher, a pilgrim and preacher and a problem when he's stoned.
For me this is the greatest country concert. They killed every song, not one wrong note. Thanks for blessing the world.
Willie and Kris still with us. Thank God
Sure thing, legends all. I had one chance to see this stellar ensemble The Highwaymen, I blew it.....
Greetings from Ireland .
Kris has announced his retirement from touring, got to see him the last few times- the great songwriter of our time!
They all live in our hearts and memories!!!
Just thank Willie and Kris. That's enough.

Brings tears to my eyes. Great entertainers, the likes of which will never be seen again. A truly wonderful era.
Never be another bunch like these guys. The way those boys watched Willie kill that solo was so reverent, so joyful. Country the way it was, and always should be.

This is unfortunately an altered dehumanized version.
This was the best version of this song I've ever heard, Willie & Kris killed it on the vocals & Willie blew me away on the guitar (Trigger). Waylon clapping to Willie was cool as hell. LOVED IT!
I prefer Anita Carter she sung it beautifully
As much as I love all of these legendary men, and this retention of the song - Anita Carter did this song the best - her vocals on this song made it sensual and awe-inspiring. Though this is Kris's song, every time I hear it in my mind it is with her voice.

I kind of like to think it's because the highwaymen, for the most part, started out as friends and respected each other vs the eagles where Frey and Henley were friends but the whole idea of the eagles was commercial, which is why they went through a few members

It’s March 3, 2022. Our world is a mess. An utter, complete mess. I’m so sad. I come to videos like this because they remind me of a childhood when I was happy and free. My heart breaks knowing my children will never understand what it feels like to not be tied to technology, when kids played in the streets and came home for supper, a few channels on TV, when the nightly news was NEWS... and old shows with music and laughter brought families together once a week. Saturday morning cartoons and soccer games. When burgers, fries , and ice cream were a special treat.... and .25 cents.
I’m full of tears today. I yearn for the beautiful life of not that long ago. For myself, for my children, for all of the worlds children.

I'm a hard rock / heavy metal type and my favorite isSabbath for more then 50 years. But when I heard songs from the first American recordings album i became a Johnny Cash fan , which lead me to the Highwaymen along with some of the other musicians from that era ! These 4 are the best super group of any type of music there is !!!!! This is real country music ,,, PERIOD ! That garbage that's out there today (Bubble Gum Music ) totally sucks ,Talentless 2 or 3 chords as they sing there same crappy lyrics about my girl left me,I drank all my beer , got my truck stuck and how they are all Cowboys . That shit is a joke !!! This Music Here Is REAL COUNTRY Music , Written and Performed by REAL MUSICIANS
You have listened to 4 of the best when it comes to real country music,,,
Bro, same. Metal was my genre. Then I found GOOD alt-country/folk/bluegrass. Never thought I’d like it this much cause the raid Leo stuff is pure garbage. Make sure you check out Sturgill Simpson, Tyler Childers, Ryan Bingham, Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton (Steeldrivers is his best) and others. A great hole to fall into.
My theory as to why so many metal fans cross over to good country: authenticity. Anti-pop. They sing what’s in their soul and could care less whether it sells. Genuine. Both genres share these traits (assuming you listen to the right kind of country).
Damn straight
4 distinct voices yet harmonize so well together,Willie Nelson is a musical genius
Every time I play these songs I feel we have lost forever something precious, something we possibly didn't appreciate enough at the time.
