We will never see anything with as much class as these 4 legends ever again❤
Every decade gives us great people. We just miss it sometimes bc its not our jam.
The best of the best.
for sure
@🎉rapier1954
😅
My wife and I were there, and it was one of best concerts that we ever attended. Thank you, Highway Men! I know that some of you have passed, but I will remember you all until my final day! God bless you all.
I wish I could have been there😭😭
Lucky sob's what a night you must've had watching these legends
I’m not jealous. I’m not jealous. I’m happy for you really. 😂😂
Congratulations on being able to see these legends perform together! I’m grateful we live in an age I can watch 40 years later.
Am so jealous you were there, what a concert!
FIVE legends to me...Mickey Raphael on harmonica was every bit as crucial to this wonderful collaboration of musicians. Music will never be as good as this again.
Six :) please, do count Reggie Young
Lisa Miller you got that spot on he is amazing talent
You are sure right with this comment.
You have not heard Neil Diamond's Hot August Night.
I believe this Mickey showed up playing tunes with Neil Young and Willie Nelson at a Farm Aid concert.
This is the most talent ever amassed on the same stage. Could you imagine the price of concert tickets for this concert if it were today? These guys are just. naturally laid back doing what they were meant to do entertain. They are all in tune no fancy jewelry or clothes just a normal people. These want to be singers today could never keep up this is real country.
Yes yes and yes
sooooooooooooo true!
I agree
True
True!
The guy on harmonica is pretty special. Could listen to him all day long.
Mickey Rafael was Willie's brother-in-law at one rime.
He is so very very good ❤ 4:12

I just caught a look in Chris's face that says he's thinking how did i ever wind up with these 3 COOL Dudes. .man I'm living right.
Johnny, Willie, and Waylon all had individual hits on this song that Kris wrote.
he's got that "I'm having the best time of my life" smile on his face through the the entire concert.
@@pileofstuff He does seem to be the youngest.
What makes them shine the most is they are real.
Look at Kris, the smile on his face as his song is being sung by some of the best musicians ever!!!
I agree, Apsco---Kris has always appreciated that his efforts were appreciated by his talented friends.
Kris is so handsome even today at his age
@@annettespencer8154gotta admit you’re right. Good looking old dude. Talented beyond belief too I personally think his voice has gotten better with age
Including himself. He’s got a great voice
@@nobodyspecial6513 ciao amico! 🙋♀️😍😘💘🍀
Man what a show. We will never see its like again.
Never
Very good
I wanted to reply with something, but you already said it.👍
Can’t beat that
Watching legends
The way Waylon booms "From the coalmines of Kentucky to the California Sun" is just phenomenal
Idem for Cash
You might want to give a listen to Waylon live, from 1975, it is my favorite version and Waylon is at his peak. It’s my favorite version of me and Bobby McGee.
Amazing isn't it

Legends. I’ll trade all my tomorrow’s for one single yesterday.
Mark my words folks. There will never be another era in country music with the talent gathered on one stage than that of the American Outlaws!
My mom in law had never been 2 a concert and Itiok her k. Roger's was there too and she came just as they were escorting him 2 the stage
@@roxanedavis957 great country music love it
The musicians of today would not lace the shoes of that gang they were perfection at its best 👌👌🇨🇮🇨🇮
Is the best of the free life behind us now, and are the good times really over for good? Stop rolling downhill with the democrats heading for hell, let's all reelect President Trump and ring the Liberty bell, let's make a ford and a Chevy run on Affordable American oil like they should
❤️❤️🏴🏴
"From the coal mines of Kentucky to the California Sun"
What a line. And delivered with perfection!
From one side of the country to the other as well as from dark to light. Truly brilliant writing saying so much so simply
Waymore = ❤😂🎉😅😊
Is it fair to say that this Highwaymen concert in 1990 was one of the greatest live shows of the entire 20th century?
i just can't get enough of it. Truly as someone said, the Mount Rushmore of country.
Yes I agree and I am English. Always playing it.
Aye has to be one of the greats of all time what would we give to see them live tomorrow? Just 2 left now Willie never got the credit he deserved
Absolutely concur , he swept floors and helicopters
Kris and Willie, hang in for us.
The harmonica player needs LOTS more recognition for his excellent work!!!!!!
👌👌👌
Mickey Raphael on harp!! Always the best. /CD
AGREE..Mickey sure gets it done!! Best I have ever heard!!!
ursel doran - he sure does, I am surprised he doesn’t get more attention he is in all the best Videos
Mickey Raphael has been playing the harp with Willie Nelson’s band since 1973 (7,000 shows).
If I could go back in time to any concert ever, it would be this one. A stage full of legends having fun with their friends, singing some of the greatest songs ever penned. Blissful ❤
The greatest!
If only we could back to these times. Godbless you
Totally agree, from a Scotsman

The Traveling Wilbury's? It's a tough call.
You got that right!....
Absolutely never can be duplicated! The Highwaymen were special!!!❤️
Legends on one stage, what I wouldn't give to have been there that night!
Me too
Watching this from Glasgow Scotland. Amazing
I never realized that Kris Kristofferson wrote "Me and Bobby McGee!"
Not only that, but Kris is also a United States Army Captain, having served as a helicopter pilot and a qualified U.S. Army Ranger. A true American badass outlaw!
He wrote that about Janis Joplin. He was quite a interesting character. A Rhodes scholar, could’ve taught at West Point, and the list goes on
He was a great songwriter
@@brunojaysutterHe didn’t wrote it about Janis J. Think Barbara McKee. Look for it.😊
@@jamesmartins7130 yes Barbara McKee was his record company secretary and you're right he wrote the song about her altho Janis Joplin recorded the definitive version of Bobby McGee
I just love the smile on Kris' face all the way through! Johhmy Cash' voice compliments Kris' so well!
Yeah he's absolutely loving it !!!!!
Kris K is one of the best song writers and story tellers that this world will ever know
Along with Robert Hunter and Bob Dylan
Paul Simon, John Prine, Joni Mitchell…

Together with Waylon, Willie & Johnny? That's a level of cool I can't even begin to understand.
They are music, they have made people's lives much better with their music
The sheer amount of chemistry between these 4 guys and the band behind is mesmerising. Add on top of that amazing songs and a loyal fan base , you have yourself *true* legends

Those who were lucky enough to be part of this concert have undoubtedly got their money's worth! What a magnificent performance! And what a legacy to the fans.
R.I.P. dear Johnny, R.I.P. dear Waylon! ❤❤❤❤👍👍👍👍
Fantastic!

For those of us who grew up in the golden era of music, this provides chills and memories beyond belief. 😍😍
george jones sang "whose gonna take their place" looks like NOBODY, so sad.
they just don"T MAKE THEM LIKE THAT ANYMORE. why?
Kris , Waylon , Johnny and Willie ! Four giants ! So good to see them smile, they're so happy to sing together and this song is wonderful.
Marty needs to be on that stage. Too bad he died in 1982. He was the most talented out of all those incredible musicians. Johnny and Marty were real close friends.
Doesn't Waylon have a lovely voice. I don't think I ever noticed that before.
@tomtolbert32 l
Don't forget Reggie Young in the back playing all those beautiful fills on a guitar.

Got a year on u. I think these 4 are the best country musicians there ever were.
This was the first song, Kris K., wrote preformed by Janis Joplin.
This is the guy who wrote it. Kris kristophersen. One of the few to actually deserve the title "Legend" and of course, Willy, Waylon and Johnny C. What more can be said!
Real folks, real music, ton of talent. Just enjoyable music, don't over think it.
The true country music. Music forever.
Imagine, No earpieces to hear themselves, the rhytem and timing these guys have on the music. No artist alive these days can do what these guys did!
The American Outlaws, the words is a better place because of them their music and songs, I could listen to them forever XXXX
Real music
Layzie Haze I get the sentiment, but they had floor monitors. They could definitely hear themselves.
@@andrew77961 whats the problem with hearing yourself. I sing and hear myself
john smith It’s about playing in a live setting. Typically the band is behind the speakers, the PA is facing the crowd but in front of the stage. Yeah, they could hear it, but it would be echoing back and not sound right. So when you see those wedges on the front of a stage facing back towards a band, those are speakers so the band can hear themselves clearly. A lot of modern acts use in ear monitors so they can move around more.
Kris once stated that he does not have a great voice. He was quite correct it isn't great it's fantastic. He was born to do this stuff.
He sings 1,000,000 times better than me!
I never realized how great this song was until I heard this version.

Wish I could have seen it live!
They all looked so healthy and happy here. Now there is only Willie and Kris left and they are in their 80's.
So sad
What amazes me is that...according to health specialists....these 4 should have been dead by age 40 from the way they abused their bodies...but...hell no... I think they all hit at least 70. Waylon had diabetic problems that killed him. The others I guess were just pickled and preserved...using about every substance known to man...lol That ALL FOUR of them would survive so long...I'm wondering if they didn't share some special elixir of life or were just too mean to die... lol. Whatever the answer, I am forever grateful that we have had them for so long. God Bless them, every one!!!
@@bettyjoegentry9280 wooow itsbacause they are legends!
@@bettyjoegentry9280 well, Waylon died at 64 and John died of diabetic complications as well - but yeah, they did live longer than they were expected to. I love Waylons remarks about how he knew that everything that was wrong with him, he caused. It takes a man to recognize and accept that, and i hope they didn't have too much regret on their last days. No matter how stupid they were back in the days, legends they were, and though they 'only' lived for 64 and 71 years respectively, they put a mark on the world that will last for hundreds of years.
