    Looks like you all have been very busy. Very creative, and I LOVE the PET CO2 bottle...brilliant! You asked for invention requests, and I have emailed this to KegLand support, but I'd love to see a plastic or rubber strapping for the FermZilla All-Rounder as an alternative to the cloth straps. Where I live, the cloth straps are a magnet for mold as the cloth can hold moisture during fermentation, and a plastic or rubber, especially an antimicrobial type, would be brilliant and an excellent alternative for those of us living in very hot and humid parts of the world.

    I have an invention request: make a long cooling coil that can reach the bottom of a corny and fit through the lid hole. Reason I want this: if I could transfer the wort boiling hot from my kettle into my keg where I ferment in and cool it in the keg it would 1) sanitize the keg due to heat 2) save me time because I can already start cleaning my kettle during cooling.
    The invention would basically be your already existing fermzilla cooling coil but with a lot more coils so that it could cool efficiently using tap water, plus it should be a tad more narrow so it fits in the keg opening.
    This would be awesome!

      I don't think FC on the tap is worth it. The FC QD looks good but I haven't tried it. One real cheap solution is inserting into any tubing. Not sure why this guy stopped selling the inserts but I have one and works well.

  • @henrik747

    If only the FC ball lock was a little bit higher, then the tap could fit on 18 liter corny kegs. I only have those and the rubber handle is in the way. The 19 liter ones work since the handles are different.
    Another way around this would be a higher keg post! But I have searched high and low for that without luck.

  • @bulldog9708
    @bulldog9708 Před rokem +1

    Interesting to see how difficult it was to push in the tube to the disconnect. I have heaps of trouble with the push in fittings, both liquid and gas with the Eva barrier. Don’t seem to push in all the way to the indicator, even though I take care cutting the Eva tube evenly etc.

    • @neighborino
      @neighborino Před rokem

      I'm finding that too, particularly with the new flow control disconnect. It looks like the o-ring inside might be larger than the older variants.
      One tip for you, wipe a bit of silicone grease around the end of the tube before inserting it. It was still difficult but it eventually did seat fully.

    • @KegLand
      @KegLand  Před rokem +2

      When we first made the whole range of duotight fittings we have made them to be quite a tight fit on purpose. With that said we have a new generation 2 model for all of the fittings that we are about to start transissioning to soon. These fittings are easier to put together and take apart. If you have trouble getting the beer line in all the way we have some customers use a pencil shapener to put a small chamfer on the edge of the beer line and this does make it quite a bit easier.

    According to my Reynolds Number calculation beer being poured through a 10mm orifice, at a rate of 1 pot per 15 seconds would be in the turbulent flow region (at least in transitional flow).
    And this calculation assumes a straight pipe with no bends. A tap is closer to an elbow than a straight pipe so the flow would unlikely be laminar. Certainly not fully developed flow.
    I would be very surprised if the flow was laminar in these irregular tap cross sections with the flow rate of 1 pot per 15sec.
    The beer also contains bubbles of various sizes - another complication

    • @KegLand
      @KegLand  Před rokem

      You are absolutely correct. If you definte "laminar flow" using the Reynolds number definition then we would have to make a much longer and bulkier tap spout. With that said when we talk about laminar flow we compare our results with other competitors in the marketplace and our taps have significantly more laminar flow than the competition.

    Would it be possible to design and sell a decently rated 500ml extra strong pet bottle that would hold a decent (and refillable) amount of CO2 for this same purpose? Maybe there is some amount of inherent danger to this, but perhaps it could be mitigated with well designed fittings?

      This tap has the body made from various different composites including PP, polykeytone and EPDM. The spout is stainless and we also use a stainless insert for themale spout. The seals are overmoulded into the body of the tap. This shape of tap body is extremly difficult to make in plastic as we have horizontal channels to make the flow of liquid more laminar and that would be virtually impossible to machine from stainless. @@KegLand gallon and 1/2 gallon growlers with the screw-on cap, looks like KL14403. Got quite a few from breweries over the years. The other option I've found, CanKeg Growl Tap Kit is close, but would really prefer some ball lock connections without needing a mess of adapters.

    How about version of Nukatap mini clamp to attach to table top/ kitchen island unit I.e. a horizontal surface.

    • @KegLand
      @KegLand  Před rokem

      Yes that is a good point. We should probably make another version to do that too. I will look into that now.

    • @KegLand
      @KegLand  Před rokem

      Yes we will have other handles available in future. I should say the handle is also a standard M5 thread so you can easily screw other stuff on too. We have tried to keep all the threads as common as possible.

    Less mini taps and more 65l copper domes.. jokes😂 love the setup. But seriously, where is the 65l copper dome.

    • @KegLand
      @KegLand  Před rokem

      Haha. Dont worry we have some really cool distillation hardware on the horizon. Do you think the copper dome is necessary. I have always preferred the stainless lid myself and the dome shape is more of a cosmetic thing rather than performance. Did you want the copper dome for cosmetic reasons or to improve the spirit somehow?

    • @twiztedplayer5358
      @twiztedplayer5358 Před rokem

      @KegLand I have always been told more copper contact will result in a better end product. As you also mention on the description of the alcoengine pot still
      When your hot spirit comes in contact with copper the copper acts like a catalytic converter and drives sulfur out of the spirit. This process means you get less "off-flavours" and you simply get better quality spirit.
      But yes, I also do get hard for copper porn. Bit of a shame I have to buy from another supplier for a brewzilla accessory.

      That was just something we made in the office. It's a good point, we should probably make these available to eveyone too. I will take that back to the other guys and see if we can manufacture them for customers too.
