    I'm so very sorry you had to sell your family's park. I had my partner fly Sydney, Australia to England to do your five day course. I'm retired and taught both here in Sydney and in the USA. I so loved the style of you works and the level of your painting skills.
    I do miss teaching, as i miss the interaction with my students, and to this day I get calls asking me small technical questions, and i still service equipment for one importer, as I've known him for over 40 years. The main difference is I limited my Air Brush classes to 6 people and had the students do the identical projects so we were all on the same page.... Fiona was one of my students and like you I ended up getting her to work for me, and 30 years later she owns and has expanded the course.
    Kind Regards ... Ken (They call me Airbrush Ken as I did work for Paasche back in the late 60's and early 70's.... Thanks Joby...
    I only wish I was able to go with her to see you in action... side note>> still own some "French Quills" and "Mack" brushes from the 60's... I am old ... LOL

    When all the vinyl fades and peels people will specify hand lettering once again. It will all come in a circle. Hand lettering is certainly not dead now either.

    hi joby my names is john francis an I live at Woodstock Oxfordshire and I have seen your signwriting course on you tube and I find it very inspiring as im a self employed cycle mechanic myself and I also worked on the fairground some years ago with Michael Jennings from barwell leicestershire and I like to do signwriting on my pushbikes that I build from scrap and I also like to pinstripe pushbikes and your signwriting courses appeal to me a great deal so that I could get better at my own signwriting by watching your signwriting on here and I find that by doing my own signwriting and pinstriping is time consuming but when you see what you have achieved when the signwriting and pinstriping is done it appeals to me even more to try and improve on what I do and by watching your signwriting course on here it,s helping me to to get much better at what I do

    I was a sign writer over 50 years ago. it certainly is a lost art! Digital printing made it a lot easier so everyone now is a sign maker.

      @BoiDetroit Před 3 lety +2

      I was also a sign painter for over 40 years and the digital printers and cutters have made the hand lettering obsolete. The folks who seem to be making money are the people selling sign painting courses. If there were any money to be made in sign painting I would still be doing it.

    I've done hand-painted work for 38 years all over the US, gold-leaf and wall graphics, carved and sandblasted from northern Michigan to Seattle, Washington.
    If you are experienced and talented enough and have a passion for signwriting it does not matter, you can do the work anywhere.

    When I first started working in graphic design late 70s early 80s EVERYTHING was hand done. The logos hand drawn with pens and the dreaded leteraset was our apple macs😅I'd love to to this course closest I came to it was flash lettering on daygo paper for shop signs. I advanced to a shop sign for relate marriage guidance shop😅as I'm too ill to attend this amazing course I'm going to buy the book. Goal is to do grandkids initial letters for their walls.

    i really love your letter shapes and brush strokes. they are fantastic, but i think there are a lot of letters that are way too close to the edge of the sign. (and in one case you even painted a letter over the boarder). i was taught that the layout and the correct spacing between letters and the edge of the signboard is whats most important.
    its so great that you are teaching and keeping the passion alive in our vanishing trade. (i started 37 years ago and im still swinging the brush as well). good luck to you mate! best wishes

    Always following up from kenya ...my question is, does it mean , an artist who uses stencil to copy n paste his art isn't so real as the hand drawn one? My art teacher used to warn me about using stencils but only later to realize he have been using it all along, somehow also found myself , feeling like i should always take theshortcut for my personal jobs but ave never felt proud of it nomater how good the art is...
