So why does that girl need an emotional support animal? Before you answer keep in mind that Lisa has been through ALOT, so anything she went through would probably seem lacklustre compared to Lisa.
To be fair, it doesn't really matter why someone needs an emotional support animal. Some people really do.

Emotional Support Animals have become something of a hot button issue in recent years. As far as I’m aware, they are not recognized as service animals by the Americans with Disabilities Act, and they aren’t required to have any kind of training to be certified. This can lead to problems when they’re brought out in public, like bystanders having an allergic reaction to the animals or the animals actually attacking the bystanders. If we’re being less charitable about it, the emotional problems these people are dealing with can be overblown or even misdiagnosed, yet speaking against ESA's can be viewed - or at least spun in the court of public opinion - as preventing people with disabilities from getting the help they need. This whole sequence is a satirical exaggeration of the phenomenon.
