    I have a Senegal and she chews anything I line her cage with. She’s such a sweetie. She loves to snuggle and loves her head scratches.

    is a senegal the same size as a cockatiel because when i first saw a senegal picture i thought it was the same size as a frican grey but in your video electra looks very small do they grow bigger?

    • @Loveofpets
      @Loveofpets  Před 7 lety

      Phil Mitchel Senegal are bigger than Cockatiels but not has big as a grey.
      Males may be bigger than Electra.
      Senegals are more stocky and have a bigger head and beak than a cockatiel. If I would put them side by side Electra is a little bit taller.

    • @Loveofpets
      @Loveofpets  Před 5 lety

      Hi, this cage is no longer available and the bar spacing is too wide for a parrotlet, however this cage is much better with proper bar spacing and it's the same size as the one in this video, here is the link amzn.to/2XSEkrQ

  • @spoons0965
    @spoons0965 Před 5 lety +1

    You guys probably love your parrot very much, but the cage seems rather small. I’d think you might want to invest in a bigger cage.
    The cage set up is nice, they just need more room, it might be fine if she is mostly out of her cage, I don’t know what you do with her but she’s very pretty!

    • @Loveofpets
      @Loveofpets  Před 5 lety +2

      Hi, thanks for your concern, she is out all day. Senegals are not very active birds. They are docile and slow moving. She goes in my Birdroom and climbs the ropes and perches and has a playpen on top of her cage and sits with us etc. She had a bigger cage but she did not even move around much so we got a smaller cage which see seems better in. Most people who have Sennies have smaller cages as they are not high energy birds and they hang out more then moving around etc. She gets plenty of exercise though.

    • @spoons0965
      @spoons0965 Před 5 lety

      Thanks for explaining this to me I didn’t know much about this species, I thought all birds needed a lot of room!

    • @Loveofpets
      @Loveofpets  Před 5 lety

      Not necessarily, it depends on the bird but bigger is better if they are in the cage alot. There are some hyper birds that don't stop moving, they play and climb and fly such as a Kakariki, Ringneck etc. Flighty birds need space to fly like Canaries and Finches or Bourkes which need flight cages. It really depends on the birds lifestyle and a activity level but just because they may be more sedate the bigger the cage is best unless it's a sleep cage only.

    3/4" bars? A bit wide for her.

    • @Loveofpets

      It's a good size, she has a big head and it can't fit through the bars

  • @jessica6967
    @jessica6967 Před 7 lety +2

    Is it just me, or does it look like her cage is in a draft? Awesome cage though btw!

    • @Loveofpets
      @Loveofpets  Před 7 lety +2

      Jessica Hammage Hi, there is no draft near her cage. There is a hallway on the right side where my bird room is. She is in the middle of my house which is the best spot for her.

    • @sahinturker1197
      @sahinturker1197 Před 7 lety +1

      Jessica Hammage I have noticed too, that lettuce was moving as if there was a draft. Though she is soon to be a 9 years old, i don't think there is a problem.

    • @Loveofpets
      @Loveofpets  Před 7 lety +2

      Sahin Turker Hi, yes the lettuce is moving because the window is open. It's a very nice summer day and a nice breeze.
      It's not a cold breeze, it's s summer breeze. My birds go outside daily and the wind blows which it totally fine for them.
      Thanks for your concern, I would never let the air conditioning blow on her.

  • @beautyslimes1799
    @beautyslimes1799 Před 4 lety +2

    That cage is way to small.

    • @Loveofpets
      @Loveofpets  Před 4 lety

      Why do you think it's too small? Do you own a Senegal?

    • @beautyslimes1799
      @beautyslimes1799 Před 4 lety

      Love of Pets yes I own a Senegal and even the pet store ( which we all know gives horrible advice ) recommend a bigger cage than this you can tell just my looking at the parrot and the cage that’s it’s too small you cage is a minimum and don’t call me “dear” thanks

    • @Loveofpets
      @Loveofpets  Před 4 lety

      I meant to say "Do" my phone autocorrect the word. I never call anyone "dear" so I apologize for that.
      Do some research on Senegal's and you will see that most Senegal's prefer a smaller cage. Senegal's are not a very active bird and usually use only part of the cage and my Senegal is out of the cage all day so her cage is mostly for sleep.
      Join some Facebook Senegal groups and ask about the cage size and you will see.
      If you never or hardly let out your Senegal then a very large aviary "not cage" is needed.
      I assume you keep your Senegal in a cage all day and that's why you say mine is too small.
      You must be new to my channel, have you seen my other videos of my other birds and my birdroom or my outdoor aviary?
      I want the best for my birds and give them the best life that I can so when you come to my channel and judge me on one video it's makes me think that you are new to my channel and have no idea on how I care for my birds
      Most of my videos are about caring for birds.
      This is another Senegal video that I made czcams.com/video/EQJF3TeD9yE/video.html
