- In this clip, John Stanley takes to the road in a BMW 840ci Sport, assessing its performance, practicality, and design. The 840 sports a huge V8 4.4 litre engine which produces 286 BHP, averages 20 MPG, and has a top speed of 155 MPH.
I almost bought a used black 850 i Schnitzer in 1997 for 32,000 Deutsch Marks. Waited a few days and when I came back, it was gone. Oh how I regret this to this day. And a friend of mine`s Mom had a 840 in petrol green. I was always envious.
i like few BMWs......But THIS one........is one of my top favorites
One of the coolest cars in existence. Pretty rare here in the states, and for around $10k - I don't think there's anything cooler
Tracey Talevich
You can find them..just have to dig..
pretty rare everywhere. Even more rare to find a manual in USA.
You're right. Looked long for the '94 that I just bought. Body-perfect Calif car for $5k!
That's what I call a proper automotive journalist.
What a classy review!
I can hear 80s hits in my head just by looking at this car
more like 90s
This is a royal presentation!!!
Excellent blast from the past!!
That is one cool dude
Still a sleek looking car today considering it launched in 1990! But that lemon yellow colour...think I'll pass on that lol
1989
True, hate that color, What were they thinking lmao
i like in lemon or white , the shapes and axes , curvatures etc are more visibles with light colors ...
Gorgeous car imo
Lovely Car Still !

Better than any Aston Martin
300k, 300k or I’ll take it to sky.
Why would anyone go for the v8 over the v12? I think is stupid. The v12 engine is a jewel.
the V8 stood the test of time, the v12 unfortunately didn't. Modern V8s are shitty coz they are overengineered and crammed into a tiny 5 series bonnet, hence the bad reputation. But the V8 E31 with a manual gearbox is still a great everyday driver today. The V12 is not.
The V12 850CSi comes only with the manual gearbox & overshadows the regular 850 V12 & V8 even in their manual guise. I would select the V8 auto for everyday driving- only because of my preference for auto and ease but for a more fun engaging drive, I would select the 380 BHP 850CSi any day. The V12 back in the day did not get a great reception in the UK market hence their limited appeal at the time. But now most collectors/enthusiasts aren’t worried about fuel economy etc as normal drives them mush and do for the V12 where possible.
This guy in the video looks like the villain that high-jacked the jet in the Bruce Willis, Die Hard movie. What' his fuckin' name? Sorry, brain fart.
He said that auto tranny slush box was "heaven." He'd shit his britches if he drove a modern car with a DCT, for damn sure. Beautiful car nonetheless. I just wished the bigger Bimmers handled like the 3 Series. That's my only quibble with my '09 E60 M5. It just isn't "light on it's feet."
i want an 840 swapped out with a 5.0l v6
?????????????????????????????????
Can't stop looking at that hair. Jesus christ!
