Most of the ones I saw were in sand bags. They were aggressive and fast. The one the bit me left an infection behind that almost feels cost me my leg and the treatment ruptured tendons everywhere and made me the man I am today. Stupid bug. Solpudid. Should have let them take my leg. Saw them in returning cargo in Idaho too. I think they were mating with a local wolf spider. I swear these things where having babies. Now I get to deal with Joro spiders.😢

If it is night time like you said, they probably would not swarm around a person because they do not need shadows, which is why they are mostly active at night. If it is day time, then it would be really hot and not cold, meaning a person would not need a campfire. Hence, you would most likely never be swarmed when at a campfire. Do you see my point?

One is basically just an under-the-sand dweller, so it's jsut fat as heck & has thick fluff, common name is liek Teddy Bear Camelspider. But there is one that I only maanged to find on youtube once & can't even find it on google now, it was built like the one you see but covered in these increadible, pure-white fluffy hairs, it goes from being a true creepy crawly to like a little angel, it's the craziest transformation ever.
The way it dug out it’s burrow at the end was really endearing to me, it looked just like a mouse or a rabbit digging some dirt out. They’re not so scary once you get past how they look

For any who may not know, camel spiders aren’t actually chasing a person for that person. They’re actually chasing your shadow. Since they’re common in areas with desert climates, it can be difficult to find shade, so it goes for what it can. You can actually more or less “lead” it to better shade than your shadow by going by a bush or something else that casts a shadow. They’ll almost always opt for that over continuing the hunt for your own shadow, as the bush is also going to be seen as a safer place to be compared to next to a large human being.

A few years back a delivery driver turned up at a warehouse I was working at. He found one of these nearly dead one of the boxes. We all spent the next 3 days keeping it warm and researching about it. We were all so chuffed when it survived and we found a local reptile shop to take him. He was there for years as the owner wouldn't sell him because of how much character he had. He was awesome and helped me and the boys get over a useless fear of spiders. The mass of majority of animals out there even including bees and spiders and wasps, or just like us. They are just simply trying to survive. They don't mean to harm or scare anybody. In fact for most of these animals their method of Defending themselves comes at a very high price to them so they'd rather not have to take that route. Usually they are just hungry or cold or hot or trying to look for shade or whatever just like anybody else, just simply trying to get by in life.

I remember “learning” about these from some random dumb child when I was in middle school, I remember because it left such an impression on me that I think it legitimately contributed to my life long arachnophobia in a major way. I remember seeing the edited photo that went around forever of the massive one, like the size of a fucking lizard (looking back i’m like how could i fall for this lol) and how they would chase soldiers stationed in the Middle East. I was actually shocked to learn the DO chase you, but it being for shade makes so much more sense!!!! Misinformation can truly cause a negative impact on people, especially as children. I had an encounter with one while I was sitting in my garage one night. He was running toward me and I let out a yell, and the little fellow just stopped in his tracks. We both just stood there frozen until I did a side shuffle to get to my door. He got the message and turned around and ran off. We found him later waiting by the garage door. We opened it and he ran out. I was horrified by him at first, but as he ran out of my garage I couldn't help but feel a fondness for the little guy

For any who may not know, camel spiders aren’t actually chasing a person for that person. They’re actually chasing your shadow. Since they’re common in areas with desert climates, it can be difficult to find shade, so it goes for what it can. You can actually more or less “lead” it to better shade than your shadow by going by a bush or something else that casts a shadow. They’ll almost always opt for that over continuing the hunt for your own shadow, as the bush is also going to be seen as a safer place to be compared to next to a large human being.
Person: "AAH, THE SPIDER IS CHASING ME!!!"

I remember “learning” about these from some random dumb child when I was in middle school, I remember because it left such an impression on me that I think it legitimately contributed to my life long arachnophobia in a major way. I remember seeing the edited photo that went around forever of the massive one, like the size of a fucking lizard (looking back i’m like how could i fall for this lol) and how they would chase soldiers stationed in the Middle East. I was actually shocked to learn the DO chase you, but it being for shade makes so much more sense!!!! Misinformation can truly cause a negative impact on people, especially as children. I’m 30 and have only recently started overcoming my arachnophobia extremely slowly by using educational videos on youtube ❤

I had an encounter with one while I was sitting in my garage one night. He was running toward me and I let out a yell, and the little fellow just stopped in his tracks. We both just stood there frozen until I did a side shuffle to get to my door. He got the message and turned around and ran off. We found him later waiting by the garage door. We opened it and he ran out. I was horrified by him at first, but as he ran out of my garage I couldn't help but feel a fondness for the little guy
