Use it regularly on classic lorries and swear by it, totally non toxic and always works, highly recommend it for classic vehicle use.

Bilt Hamber products are all excellent,... as a preventative measure use their “Atomac” ... mist over exposed metal after washing or having been out in wet weather, will stop surface rusting 👍

I’m going to try Deox on some rustspot repair on my car. Now I know it does not hurt the good paint if I mess up while applying it. Thank you for that 😄. I think I’ll mechanically remove more of the rust before applying the product, though 🙂

So, I'm using ferrozinc currently on my GP frame getting it prepped for priming. This is what I discovered. It's all phosophoric acid. Doesn't matter what brand or how it looks. Generally every ingredient that isn't phosophoric acid is a filler, designed to make it look as if you're buying something other than phosophoric acid. Some add latex. Some don't. Otherwise all the same.

you should buy the concentrated stuff. The jar with 1 kg deox-c can make 25 liters and is much more effective. You can also reuse it

Rob, if you want to get rid of the rist stain on the paint use 0000 steel wool with plenty of water. It will remove the shine as well as rust stain but the you can T cut the gloss back.

Thanks Shaun. I can try that under the frame and if it works I can do the whole scoot and buy you beer. 😎

Here in the States we have a product called EvapoRust that is incredible. The end result isn’t a black finish, but clean metal, I swear by the stuff.

I looked at that too but couldn't find it in the gel variant over here. Pretty sure it does the same sort of job.

@@kickbackgarage No it doesn't come in a gel unfortunately and it also doesn't leave it black, it actually leaves the metal clean AND it clears that red rust color from the paint. The best part is it can be re-used, you just pour it back into another bottle. It does require that it sit in the liquid for a while of course which can be a little tricky. I think light surface rust like that fender had would require less time than say a very heavily rusted part. I poured a whole bottle into a fuel tank and left it overnight and was amazed at the result.

It wasn't applied thick enough and left for long enough, leave it overnight and then scrub it off with a stiff brush and soapy water and the rust drops off, then rinse.

That reminded me of using products like Kurarust back in the seventies when I desperately tried to prevent my cars falling apart from the dreaded rust bug.
I can appreciate restoring while retaining originality but when I see something damaged by time I just get the urge to get it blasted and sprayed. Probably a legacy of having to deal with rusty minis and the like back in the days when three year old cars would be showing signs of rot.
You had better buy some more cling film before your missus finds out you've raided her kitchen .😄

Classic vehicles don't see winter anymore. An original paint scooter is worth more than restored one. The bodywork is solid on this apart from one of the frame strengthener, which will be replaced in the next vid I am also soon starting on 45hp lambretta engine build soon!
