Hey guys! Welcome to Everything Is Boffo!!!
In this video, we're showing you the 5 things that we did that will help your trip to Xàtiva a little easier. We took a day trip to Xàtiva and we can't wait to go back!
Xativa is a great option for an easy and rewarding day excursion. Lying just 43.5 miles (70 kms) from Valencia, Xativa’s main attractions are its historic quarter and imposing medieval castle, whose walls can be seen from the Sierra of Vernissa. An enchanting city, Xativa has an eclectic collection of historical tales and prominent architecture spanning various centuries from Roman and Arab periods through to more recent Christian times. It is also well known as the cradle of prominent historical figures such as the famous Borgia family, which boasts the famous painter José Ribera and two other family members who became Popes during the XV century. Lose yourself in the narrow streets of the historic center and the labyrinth of the Arab quarter. You’ll find churches, convents, palaces, and fountains which all tell stories of sieges, revolutions, and legends. Take the Calle Corretgeria staircase down to the beautiful market square area. Calle Montcada is another interesting area where buildings are decorated with coats of arms, honoring noble families.
Xativa Castle has an unmissable attraction that affords wonderful panoramic views of the surrounding area right out to the distant sea.
Open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 6pm (7pm in summer). Price: €2
TIP! Xativa records the highest temperatures in the region during summertime.
For those who have difficulty with the heat, we recommend you visit Xativa outside during the summer months of July and August.
    How to get there:
Train: Regular commuter train is available from Valencia (line C-2), leaving every 30 minutes during peak hours.
By car: 45-minute drive from Valencia. Private group tours are available with bus transport.

I live in Valencia but I love seeing how foreigners enjoy Spain. I hope you continue to show us gastronomy, monuments, museums, cities, etc. Greetings

Thank you so much! You have a beautiful country and we feel so fortunate to experience it. I love that most sites and food are easily accessible and affordable. The entrance fees and souvenirs are reasonably priced, we enjoyed Xátiva immensely!

Beautiful video! At times I felt a bit worried for both of you as the castle looked deserted with no humans to be seen!! Food at the restaurant looked delicious. I always enjoy your videos because you both seem to enjoy eating and display your meals. Lovely place! Thank you!

Thank you! The dungeon was definitely creepy! But the rest was nice. We saw some other families hiking up but it was pretty quiet up there. ☺️ the views were amazing!

Thank you! That might just be the worst curse of all 🤪 I have this weird fear of old curses and living in our current apartment which was built in 1915 doesn’t help either 😆

Wow! That castle is huge! And wow, such nice views. Loved that you showed what your food looks like and I also love the music. So apropos for Spain. Thanks for sharing! (and continually making me homesick for Spain.....sigh.....)

Thanks for another enjoyable video. Always fun to see how other folks enjoy in a different way the places I've been by myself and/or with friends. Will need to try out Casa Abuela on my next trip there. Have been to Xativa a few times, including one time when I was alone and had enough time to hike up (but yes, for most folks a cab or the "kiddy train" ride when it is operating in season is advisable!) the castle and then afterward hiking behind (to the east of) the castle, accessed by going through a large "puerta" not too far from the main entrance area of the castle. Had fun exploring those back trails. Kind of difficult to explain the route I took, but went up and down trails to the north side of the hill/mountain and eventually back around and westward and downhill to the town of Xativa. If you're curious and want a general idea, you can check out my Relive video that shows that hiking loop - not sure if this is clickable so perhaps cut and paste the link... www.relive.cc/view/QvyD8ykNKq
