      It is Genetic. They genetically have more fast twitch muscle fiber, ( adaptation to a sugar cane based diet from slave agriculture on the island) which is good for quick, short burst, reactions; But burn out quickly. opposite of slow twitch muscle fiber.
      However, they are not good at endurance and long distance events. You will probably never see an natural native born Jamaican in and Iron man competition or any endurance competition.

    I can’t help but notice the difference in the actions of the Jamaican team post race in Rio vs Tokyo, the hugs, the smiles the camaraderie was so genuine. This was beautiful.

    I was so PROUD for Shelly Ann that night because for whole season she was dealing with a injury. And on that night she run the fastest for the entire season
    that how she got on the podium.
    She has the heart of a CHAMPION
    And that should encourage the rest of us NEVER to give up even when it's seems things are not in your favor!!

    Did you know that Shelly was the only women from the 2008 Olympics final to make the 2012 final, and the only from the 2012 final to make the 2016 final. And she and Ta Lou and Thompson are the only from 2016 to make 2021 final.

    Fun fact: Elaine's 10.61 is the fastest a woman has ever ran since 1988's FloJo (10.49). Three of the top 10 fastest women of all time were set within the past 4 weeks (as of this writing). And 6 of the top 10 of all time were set in 2009-2021. Women are getting much, much faster and could finally challenge the impossible FloJo record within 5 years.

    Wow, what a race. So happy for Thompson and Bowie, but most impressed with SAFP for producing a performance like this on a busted toe. Not going to speculate on what could've been if she was healthy, but here's hoping she recovers for next year. Great final!

    Where is Christania William's now tho. She was superb back in champs. I know with practice she would have improved alot.. Shelly had massive injury n still won a medal wow.
