FILM DESCRIPTION:
Navy fighter pilots Ben Gannon (Josh Lucas), Henry Purcell (Jamie Foxx) and Kara Wade (Jessica Biel) are tasked with training an unmanned plane to hit important overseas targets. Ben doesn't trust the artificial-intelligence technology, especially after the plane is hit by lightning and rewired. However, the Navy is determined to put the plane in the air -- even after it goes off on a mission of its own. Ben knows he has to stop the technology before it sparks a new world war.

It almost looks practical which is real neat given this movie and eras obsession with CGI, that being said, the plane would have just dissolved, not folded, at that speed and impact location.

Naaah back in the day they were killing black people in the movies. They were the first to die, stupid Hollywood. It was a bad era, unless you are the main character like Morgan Freeman or Denzel Washington.

If you look closely, you can see henry slammed against the mountain in the slow mo scene. Brutal
And then he gets crushed by his plane before it explodes. Safe to say that there were no remains of him to be recovered.

Brutal and immanent deaths such as this always send shivers down my spine. Seeing the cliff ahead of time for just a fraction of a second, and Henry's brief reaction knowing he'll die instantly in a second, and just how spectacular the event is, makes it even worse. (or better? considering how effective it is...)

His death song is really beautiful too. The planes circling really hammer home the helplessness.
He could have just stayed above the mountains.
Anthony Kristofferson Alonzo I think maybe they needed to keep EDI within visual range. Since it turned off its own tracking beacon and is an advanced stealth plane. If Henry stayed above the mountains he may lose sight of it, with it being so agile.
It does call into question of Henry initially spotting in the clouds though, that was one in a million.
No EDI mentions it later. He made a pilot error and was over confident of his abilities. He got triggered by EDI disobeying his orders and taking off, so he tried chasing him. EDI even warned him.

Nonsense. Missiles can hit targets miles away. So no need to chase to the plane like that. Especially, AFTER firing... you can pull UP.
Nero Bruno Vietnam proved that those ideals don't work. Theres a reason why they had to upgrade the F-4s to have guns, alongside the missiles they already carried.
nope, missile cannot hit Stealth, especially the longer the distance. Henry chased after Stealth to not lose sight of it.
So the missile still hit the UCAV? No it dodged it and it hit the mountain. If he hadn’t been so close he could have continued after him and followed up if it had missed.

When I reflect on this scene now, Foxx's character was doomed because all technology is far superior than any human being's reflexes, speed, calculating, and recovery time.
I think his death was far more ego-related than anything technological. He should've never been following a plan into a mountain range like that, it wasn't very smart and he suffered the obvious consequence.
The part where Jamie Foxx died was his best performance 👏 he ever did!
