It's interesting how Hugo didn't expect to be betrayed, but still had a protocol in case it happened.
Except this protocol was created to blow up the place if Batman was there to stop him not if Ra's would kill him.

@@inny1613 I doubt Protocol 11 was for batman. Why would that make sense? Hugo is obsessed with surpassing and becoming the successor to batman, not killing him by sacrificing himself and his work.
You could definently argue protocol 11 was created by Strange just in case something would happen. A secret button for him to press to terminate everything and go out with a bang, so that he would always be the one in true control of the operation and get the last laugh if the system turned against him.

he slowly lost hope as he witnessed batman fucking up the whole protocol 10 by himself , the tyger operatives surrounding him were his last hope , him speaking confidently and not running away was just a desperate attempt to confuse batman and make him think something's wrong
Henry Jackson's theory : basically the same thing but he spoke confidently to not give batman the satisfaction of domination over him
@@adamlion3495Yes, he's a great psychologist and comprehends the human mind so he knows that he must remain calm and confident in order to not make Batman feel powerful but if you use the detective mode on him, you will notice that he is actually very nervous.

@@CT-Irodion I blame this one more on the writers than the characters. The writing in this game was mixed at best. It was very inconsistent and many characters were treated poorly or as morons.

It's all fake confidence. If you look at him in detective mode before you hack the door, it says he's nervous. I think he knew he had lost but was just speaking like that to not give batman the satisfaction

I don't think it was to kill him. The stabbing himself bit is a procedure in the ritual for his immortality. He might've been trying to force batman to accept it, through that act.

I’ve got to say that Hugo Strange has always been an underrated Batman villain, and the Arkhamverse really allowed him to show off. Even more than the DCAU or even the 2004 The Batman universe.
Emerald Hawk I wish they had him on Beware the Batman. It would’ve been nice to see that world’s version of him and his interactions with characters like Kitana and Anarky.

Strange is pretty obsessed with Batman. So much so that his password is literally "Wayne".
In the comics, he trained himself to peak physical condition so that he could fill out his own Batman costume. There’s a lot of homeotic subtext there that is genuinely quite unnerving.
Hugo even made a copy of bat costume and looked really unhinged in it.

I think that he used Wayne as a password because he knew that if he had to use Protocol 11, Batman would be right there beside him, maybe with a villain who didn't know his secret identity.
Maybe he was hoping that Joker or Penguin would have killed him, or that Batman would snap and kill him, then be reminded of his parents immediately afterward.

Batman stoped him by creating a fake tape and had Dick dress as him to fool the cops. Hugo planned to sell Batman's true identity to Joker, Penguin and Two-Face for a large amount of money.

Hugo Strange is voiced by the actor for count Dooku in the Clone Wars, and Ra's Al Ghul is voiced by Dee Bradley Baker, voice of all the clones in the clone wars. It makes sense they didn't get along.

For the longest time whenever I watched this I always thought it was Batman's hands reaching for Ra's sword and killing him but I'm just now realizing that he did it all himself. Man really tried to kill Batman by stabbing himself in the process, what a legend
You’re not alone, I thought Batman killed him too when I was young and played it for the first time. I’ve wondered that Ras could very well be one of the only villains that Batman could kill, if it came down to it and there was no other choice and he knew there was an existing Lazarus Pit.
Solomon Grundy and Clayface are other rouges he can use lethal force on since they are technically undead or unkillable
There is that short moment where Batman is just staring down Strange before he knocks the stuffing out of him in the beginning of this clip. He's tired, wounded, and finished with this crappy night. His silent stare is quite funny, but creepy at the same time.
This makes me realize that it wasn't just the Joker dying what got to Batman's head on this game. Lots of people died to Ras' plan, Hugo died and Bruno thought Ras had died as well. It was a lot of deaths he blamed himself for letting happen.

This was pretty cool. But it could be better if the whole setup and the Arkham City scheme was created just by Hugo Strange. The thing of doing Ra's the real mastermind behind the scheme was really undramatic and a little clumsy.
Yeah, I felt it anticlimatic, I mean Ra's only appears only a couple of minutes on screen, reveals his master plan and then dies, I also might add that we know very little of his relationship with Batman in this universe, so yeah it felt very meh in my opinion
That suicide by Strange is what made the Leauge Of Assasins plummet into internal war and diminished their potential.

Always thought it was a missed opportunity that after Batman beat Hugo Strange, Strange says, “Get your hands off me,” Batman doesn’t say: “No one is untouchable.” - as Hugo told Bruce Wayne in the beginning.
