People within the club are so detached from reality. £40 a game to them might not be anything, but to many £40 a game is too much. What happened to us being a working class club? If they want to increase season tickets, increase the quality of the manager and style of football. Oh and while we’re at it, fix the stadium!

    • @dicaniowhu

£40 a game for a London club is reasonable.

    • @SteveSturdy
      @SteveSturdy Před měsícem +13

@@dicaniowhuThat’s £40 per game on the basis you have a season ticket, so in total 19 home games is £760. Just to reiterate that this is affordable for some, but not for everyone, especially with the ever increasing cost of living.
I haven’t been to WHU now for 6-7 years, going back to Geo’s point, some tickets sell for over £100 a ticket, that’s crazy money for a game of football. Difficult to justify taking your family to a tier 1 game, you’ll spend £500 on a day out at the football, see terrible football and probably get beat 3-0 🤣

How dare they complain that season ticket holders pick and choose what games to attend? What do they expect? Its bad enough watching us play defensively without the ball for 70 minutes against the top clubs, but after it has taken hours and hours to get into the stadium, getting ripped off on the beers or the food, sitting miles away from the action can you blame fans for not wanting to bother if its Burnley, Luton or Forest?

Yes Mr Sullivan, the tickets were so cheap because you got what in essence was a 'free' stadium which costs around 50k per week. Arsenal and the spuds paid for their stadium (yes, they were purposefully made for football) and guess what? They have to pay for their stadiums.....whats your excuse for raising prices?

Not sure it isn't the same at most clubs, it's part of the terms and conditions of getting a season ticket,
4.2.9. Failure to attend Premier League games may result in the Club
withdrawing your season ticket. Utilising the Official Ticket Exchange or

Whether it's respect for our history or the perspective of the fan base they couldn't give a toss - they want customers not the inconvenience of passionate supporters. My mate is a season ticket holder at a league 2 club recently taken over by US owners - whilst we keep being told be careful what you wish for, these 'foreign' owners have fully embraced and respected the fans & the history of their club - not surprisingly they are reaping benefits via support from the fans which puts our 'British' owners to utter shame.

40 quid is not value for 90mins of “entertainment”, especially when it’s Moyes’ version of “entertainment”.
Went to the cinema the other day, 15 quid for a ticket, 120mins of actual entertainment, comfy seat, great view, nice and warm, parked right outside, had a great time. All in all with two tickets and snacks it was about the price of a single “cheap” West Ham ticket.
Now some may argue it’s not a like for like comparison but I know how I would rather spend d my weekends nowadays.
Moyes may say it’s all about the result well then I might as well just look at the result and do something better with my time and money.

I agree 100% with your theory about wanting to cut down the amount of season tickets, which is something that many Premier League clubs has started to do. Because It is extremely beneficial financially to the club to sell the exact seat to a different overseas fan( like me) or even to a football tourist then to a season ticket holder. Not just because the price of the seats but also a one-off fan is much more likely to spend lots of money in the shop or with vendors at the stadium.

It’s a different answer because I live in Norway.. But with money being tight I decided to stop renewing my Premiership TV subscription (£65 month) based on how we play. It’s just a constant frustration watching another team play with the ball 70% of the game. Defending is important part of the game but not an enjoyable experience to watch (Rice made it good to watch for a few moments.. but it was still a grind). I went through times when we were really crap but it was a huge part of my life and enjoyed the social aspect of it.
Since we moved, I was a claret member, went to a majority of the games at home but I go to see West Ham and it annoys the life out of me with our pricing structures for so called big 6 games and look at Villa this season, huge hike in prices and mothers day, massive amount of empty seats.

I know that there are many thousands who are waiting in the wings to snap up tickets (been very quiet on that front this season) but feel so much better for it and I still get to watch every game without all the hassle.
One thing I will add, the amount of away supporters in our stadium since we have moved in and in the home ends has been a huge problem.

I tried a deep dive into West Ham’s stadium takings, and I think I worked out that West Ham is only earning about £14 per seat, per game. After costs.
Most clubs do make much more money from TV rights, but season tickets and hospitality can help a club deal with wages.
On a separate note, I visited the London Stadium for the first time yesterday.
    My mate works there.
And I’ve made many comments on this channel, about how it was a progressive move for West Ham.
However, now I’ve seen how isolated it is, I totally get why West Ham fans still pine for the Boleyn ground.
I only went once to Upton Park, but I remember what a great position it was in, having all the local pubs on the same road, being packed out before the game.
I struggled to even find the London Stadium, when I got off at Stratford.
And there seemed to be only one pub within a decent distance. The Carpenters Arms.
Although, I’m guessing most local fans don’t get to the game via Stratford.
It’s a nice looking stadium, but isolated.

I am about to reach this milestone and after 52 years of unwavering and dedicated support, including 39 consecutive years as a season ticket holder, I was looking forward to finally achieving ‘concession’ status after spending my time and money on the club for over half a century.
I have now heard that if I want to remain in my current category 1 seat then I will still have to pay the full adult price. Another anomaly is that ‘pensioners’, many of whom might have mobility problems, will be sent into an area where their lack of mobility might cause an issue to them.

I am happy with my seat view but unfortunately it is in an area where against a poor team I tend to be in a supporter oasis with empty seats around me and a feeling of no atmosphere! I travel in by train from Kent which adds just over £22 on my game cost so if its likely to be a drab game I just decide to watch from home and this decision is sometimes last minute and unless its a top team putting my seat for exchange rarely sells. I had already decided to move seats next season but unless its definite that Moyes leaves I do not intend to renew. Note the term "intend" because I am open to be swayed by the clubs "ACTIONS", IF they fail to indicate anything NEW before the end of the season then I will be one of the many watching from home.

Could the price increase be the indication that the "problem" will be fixed next season? The style and entertainment is what I believe the "problem " is then possibly they are addressing it. But it isn't changing this season.

Due to FFP the season tickets might need to increase as high/higher than inflation. The real annuql inflation is much higher than reported due to them picking and choosing which items to assess. If you look back to 2018 prices many items have doubled..
But you cant say that of salaries.
The club is not going to subsize fans but they must anticipate attendence will drop if food, raw materials, fuel and energy prices continue their upwards trend.
I think they are prepping fans for future price rises

I agree with most but, here´s the thing, West Ham don´t control the public transport or the prices charged. So, if you set that aside, then I do think our season tickets are pretty cheap. For me to get to a game would cost me a fortune, but that would have to include flights, taxis, hotels etc... I haven´t been to the London Stadium and I wouldn´t go to watch this Moyesball crap! Next month I will be back in the UK and would love to catch a game and finally experience the London Stadium. Trouble is, I don´t know what games will be on, I don´t know if I can just rock up and buy tickets, short notice! All gets really complicated.

The football we play thanks to Moyes is utterly turgid and abysmal.
The man's tactics are negative, dinosaur dross that hasn't worked for several seasons now.
We have gotten to Europe in spite of it. His game plan fails nine times out of ten and it takes individual moments of brilliance from the players and poor performances of the opposition in order for us to get any results.
What we want is a manager who actually had a spine and a bit of exciting football instead of a cowardly old fossil who makes us watch 10 men behind the ball and aimless hoofball.
