Xyz, Synchro, Fusion, Standard. Long ago, the 4 dimensions lived separately in harmony. Then, everything changed when the Fusion Dimension attacked. Only Yu-Gi-Oh the King of Games could stop them, but when the worlds needed him most, he vanished. Seasons passed and my friend discovered a new summoning method, the Pendulum Summon, and all those he's an excellent duelist, he still has a lot to learn before he's ready to save anyone. But I believe, Yuya can save us all!

the thing i LOVE about arc-v is how it brought back all summon mechanics into the anime, 5ds and espacially ZEXAL became really boring when everybody was using the same monster monster type in every duel...but now with arc-v, we have characters who focus on fusion, xyz or synchro, and then theres people who use more than 2 and theres those who use all 3, plus theres the new pendulum summon mechanic added to the mix, that made most duels always super fun to watch by how diverse the archetypes used by the characters were.
    ....
but my biggest problem with the show will always be action cards........wheres the fun in watching duels when you know yuya will always save his ass using action magic - evasion....

@@bocodamondo Facts. But hey, at least Zexal treated its characters well.
Yuto got turned into Casper the Friendly Ghost and never got his body back or even the chance to rematch Yugo after choosing to spare him in their Duel.
Kurosaki lost both his sister and his best friend forever.
Kaito's, Yuto's, Ruri's, and Shun's hometown is still in shambles (unless the combination of the dimensions miraculously fixed that)
Edo dueled 3 of the Yu Boys, won none of his duels with them and for that matter won none of his on-screen duels despite being an extremely excellent duelist on par with Yuri.
Asuka's one win that I can remember was off-screen and only the aftermath was shown. She didn't even get to show up for the battle with Zarc. She could have teamed up with Leo or something.
Leo spouted exposition and was made to look like a chessmaster overlord only to get bitched out by Zarc and not even get to declare any attack.
      Gongenzaka was just underutilized.
      Sawatari was underutilized.
      Tsukikage was underutilized.
Ruri never gets her body back and has to live inside of a girl she doesn't even know, and also gets brainwashed and has to fight a boy who has her crush's soul inside of him.
Serena gets sidelined halfway through the Synchro Arc, is later seen brainwashed and after that becomes Yuzu's ghost pal.
Rin gets brainwashed and, iirc, is never seen in the present as her regular self. Becomes Yuzu's ghost friend.
Yugo's duel with Yuri is hyped ever since the beginning of the series only for Yuri to lock him into a loop and decimate him effortlessly even after Yugo is brought to his senses by Edo and Kaito. And then he becomes Yuri's bitch. Yuri also somehow gains Tuners?
Yuri somehow is immediately redeemed when he becomes Yuya's ghost pal. I get that he is the fragment of Zarc's evil, but anything would have been better than him just being all chummy with Yuya and them for no reason.
Yuzu starts off as being incredibly important but then gets to fight a few randos in the Synchro arc, remains separated from Yuya for over 30 episodes, essentially just becomes Princess Peach, and is among the most disrespected female characters in the series at that point. Even Anzu and Kotori were treated better.

Honestly, the complete and utter lack of Duel Monsters references in Arc V in favor of representing the other series was kinda refreshing, which is a nice change of pace to how the card game treats DM compared to the other series (lookin’ at you Red Eyes Dragun and Duelist Pack 28: Duelists of Gloom).

Arc-V was good until Xyz arc. After that everything went to shit. Jack destroyed Yuya in second season and told him to use his own dueling, his own style, not copy his father. Yuya took that to heart and used Pendulum Summoning to further evolve himself. Then Xyz arc comes around and Yuya's character development gets reset; he still copies his dad's entertainment duel and all lessons from previous arc are forgoten. Edo was a bitch that didn't win a duel, Kaito did 180 offscreen, Yuto was dead for majority of the series and actually died at the end. Bracelet girls were useless even if earlier seasons put emphasis on their importance. And as series further progressed *EgAo* seemed too forced.

pretty much, just trying to inform people that sometime during the XYZ arc, people were leaving the studio and along with the movie coming out, the studio was being super swamped. which caused more people to leave, and the cycle kept going, until Konami contracted the studio that does Bakugan to do the next series.

    • @jaernihiltheus7817
      @jaernihiltheus7817 Před 4 lety +22

@@changhyon92 That's not the reason, the more likely explanation is that Konomi came up with Links, and as per usual they wanted the studio to wrap under the current show in order to make Vrains. So what should've been a 5 season show, and definitely had the pacing of a 5 season show during Seasons 1 and 2, had to cram about 150-ish episodes worth of 3 full seasonal arcs into just shy of 50 episodes.
Which is almost certainly why things like Zexal only getting 1 (major) cameo, Yuri suddenly getting a huge amount of back to back duels, Aster Pheonix and the twin doing a complete 180 in a single duel, mind controlled Zuzu never getting to duel (in fact Zuzu never getting to duel at all in Season 3 IIRC), and no Yuya/Yuto/Yugo/Yuri vs Zuzu/Lulu/Rin/Celina duel all happened. The Fusion Parasite creator was probably going to be a proper sub-boss to Leo (and eventually Z-Arc), but they didn't have time so Leo just killed him for outliving his usefulness. The bracelet girls were probably going to have some mini-arc about resisting the Parasite. Alexis probably was gonna do something useful, and they were probably going to give us a second Zexal legacy character. They just didn't have the time they thought they did, so instead of just doing the XYZ arc in full and leave the show unfinished, they decided to get to the end of the story while attempting to hit as many of the story beats as they could along the way.

There's a theory on youtube that says Ray took the spirits of Yugi, Jaden, Yusei, and Yuma across time and space merging them with Zarcs respective fragments hoping the personalities of the protags can keep Zarcs soul at pay eith her fragments being near them.
Yugi merged with Standard to become Yuya.
Jaden merged with Fusion to become Yuri.
Yusei merged with Synchro to become Yugo.
Yuma and I wanna say Astral merged with Xyz to become Yuto.
The Yuri part of the theory is more interesting since Jaden's soul is a mixture of himself, the Supreme King and Yubel. So mixing all 3 of those aspects with Zarcs fusion fragment and Yuri's personality plus with him using a Plant based Deck like Yubel and possessing the Super Polymerization Card makes sense if you want this theory to be canon

They do exist in the dimensions, there's a course on Synchro summoning all about the "Fudo method" iirc shown briefly on the class board of the Leo Institute early on. The question isn't whether or not Yugi Moto, Jaden Yuki, Yusei Fudo, and Yuma Tsukomo exist in their respective dimensions. the question actually is: Did the plot in those shows happen?
Did Yuma free Astral from his father's necklace and defeat Don Thousand in *this* timeline before Duel Academy torched the city he lived in?
Did Yusei escape the Satelite, unlock his signer mark, and eventually defeat Z-ONE before the Lancers leave for Synchro?
Did Jaden send Yubel to space, went to Duel Academy, defeat an intergalactic mind controlling evil, defeat the sacred beasts, and eventually merged with Yubel and defeat a literal god of death and depression before Duel Academy was taken over by Leo Akiba?
Did Yugi ever even solve the Millenium Puzzle in this Dimension?
Outside of Synchro, all of the dimensions' timelines were heavily altered by cross-dimensional travelers, and since prior to the events of Arc-V DM -> GX -> 5Ds -> Zexal was on a consistent timeline, but from Arc-V onward they are not, all happening in isolation with each other seemingly at the exact same time, we can't go by the original shows' standard cause and effect that we would normally use. We can't say "Oh, well Ushio was Yugi's age during DM and was either in or just finished his mid-life crisis years in 5Ds so x character in Synchro should be here or this age or something", for all we know, Ushio never existed in the new DM (which is presumably Standard Dimension), which caused Yugi to never bond with Tristain and Joey, thus causing Tea's friendship alone to not be enough for Yugi/Atem to survive Pegasus's shadow game due to the power of friendship.
Maybe Ushio only exists in 5Ds (Synchro) now, or maybe he only exists in DM (Standard) but doesn't exist in this new 5Ds timeline, remember - the only two people (that we know of anyways) that have doppelgangers are Yuya and Yuzu/Zuzu. For all we know all cross-series characters were basically chosen at random in what show's Dimension they were in. So maybe the reason the Akiba Corp can legally print entire archetypes on a whim is because Pegasus no longer exists in this timeline's DM - the card game effectively just sort of always existing since the timeline was created - and instead Pegasus only ever existed in GX. Maybe Kaiba doesn't exist in DM either, or maybe the Paradox Brothers only ever existed in DM this time around. I also didn't notice any of the legendary duelist statues in the XYZ dojo where the refugees were staying at - which only supports my theory that in this Zexal timeline; The characters that the Rainbow Dragon, Neos, Dark Magician, Blue-Eyes, Red-Eyes, etc) statues were in there for no longer exist within that version of Zexal's history.
You could make the argument that the Leo Corp knows about Yusei, but keep in mind Leo Akiba, the guy who founded it, remembers the original timeline, and therefore would've probably heard about Yugi, Jaden, Yusei, and Yuma considering him and his daughter were duelists and the entire universe revolves around children's card games.

They needed another Zexal representative (which could have been so many characters like IV or a Barian like Shark or Vector) The whole 'xyz got attacked' should have been shown actively in a different dimension aswel. Which is what should have happened in the Synchro dimension in more detail. This would be then why they go to XYZ to get help by those who survived. The GX characters were useless since Edo was just there for the xyz arc and turned good out of no where and Alexis just being wasted and get carded. The way I saw it, the reasons there are no protags and the worlds are different is because the YuBoys ARE the protagonists. Essentially it's all the former protagonists never existed and are replaced by the YuBoys, so the plot is different, and the characters are different, etc. Jaden never existed to protect Duel Academy so it was easily taken over by Leo. Yusei and his father never existed so Zero Reverse never happened, Sattelite never exists, the signers have never been awakened, there is no apocalypse, and Jack has no one to reign him in, merely the Oligopolistic Dystopia that exists whether Yusei is there or not. And for Yuma, as he never existed, the numbers were never created, so most of that plot is gone, and Kite is normal until the revolution happened. THAT'S why there are differences.

Personally, I think Arc-V was just the victim of time constraints, it was clear arcs were rushed after Synchro dragged on for so long. They had to shove in too many characters with not enough time to resolve lingering plot points. Obviously, this doesn't excuse them resetting Yuya after his win against Jack, or using the Bracelet girls so sparingly, but I do see some semblance of story in the wreckage and frankly, it's a shame the series ended the way it did with the potential it started with. Still though, I rewatch from time to time and enjoy it for what it is, so I guess that's all you can really ask for. Won't be the same for everyone, which is understandable.

I think 5Ds definitely have the best arcs, but GX has an approach to not focus on the arcs and more on the characters. So many duels are completely irrelevant to the Sacred Beasts while you look at DM everyone in Season 2 wants the Egyptian God Cards or to win the tournement, where in GX characters have different motives to duel, and sometimes they have none. A good example is Chazz and his first duel was to put Jayden in his place. Further in the series his duels were moreso someone wanting to stop him from doing something they didn't like, maybe joining the society of light or dressing up as an Ojama and obsessing about them. The only other series I think that has some of this is Arc V, but most of their motives don't progress the character either. Also if you get bored of an arc you have to skip 3-20 episodes to get to an episode it's not the main focus of in any other season. GX usually has only 1-2 episodes, and it still can progress the plot. I think Zexal is the worst offender of this complaint with only few duels that aren't tied to a tournement, or getting the Number Cards.

There's one thing Arc V has that none of the series before it gets at least, it's an excellent learning aid for all the extra deck summons up to pendulum if you're struggling to understand them right, since pendulum is introduced to the in show world itself in episode 1, so everyone there is learning how it works as we do, and the usage of the 3 prior summoning methods is even a key plot point, so they all get at least moderate coverage and explanation.

Arc-Vee sounds waaaaaaaay worse than Arc-Five imo
Edit: The reason the characters don't notice the difference in hair colour is because they all have the same hair colour. It's only different for us because having 4 characters with nearly the exact same design in different clothes would get confusing
Example: It's been 24 years and a lot of people still think Atem and Yugi are the same person
Edit#2: Have you actually seen 7s or are you just doing a bit?
Edit#3: What was the real world drama you mentioned with Aki? I haven't heard of this.
Edit#4: The reason the last dozen or so episodes feel so weird and out of place is because the series wasn't planned out and most of the writing staff deleted the script and walked out in protest of poor working conditions just after the Yuya VS Yuri duel, and the animators were told to "just draw whatever". They had to essentially write the last arc on the fly.

    Spoilers about the past protags
There's a theory on youtube that states Ray took the spirits of Yugi, Jaden, Yusei, and Yuma across time and space merging them with Zarcs respective fragments hoping the personalities of the protags can keep Zarcs soul at pay eith her fragments being near them.
So mixing all 3 of those aspects with Zarcs fusion fragment and Yuri's personality plus with him using a Plant based Deck like Yubel and possessing the Super Polymerization Card makes sense if you want this theory to be canon.
It also can be argued due to Darkside of Dimensions coming out at the time of the series run they couldn't reference other than some monsters and promo opening and credits.

Mmmh well I'm going to express my thoughts on this series, it's your right to agree with me or not.
(So obviously there is going to be some spoilers here but because it's a comment, I can allow myself to do it... I guess)
To me this serie started really really well. Yes, there was that tournament stuff and all, but my God I loved it. I loved how they written Sora, I loved shun as well, the duels were epic, the characters well used and... Yeah! Everything made sense. Though I really REALLY liked yuto. Knowing he was an important character, I thought he was going to be at least a bit relevant to the following plot. And... Actually no. He died around episode 30. And that's all. He stayed dead for the last 110 episodes of this show and... Was pretty useless overall. Yeah ultimately he did became a partner for the main character but even then, he wasn't anything memorable, making only a few apparences and.. well never getting revived.
Anyway I still liked the first part. However, I really didn't like the synchro dimension. It lasted.. waay too long, while it wasn't even related to the main plot. It was like if the writers made it intentionally long because... Well 5D's is a beloved series, so they made it long like "hey see! It's the serie you all love". Anyway I really didn't like Jack here, and the major antagonist, Jean-Michel roget ( I think that's his name... I don't remember anything about him actually ), well he was astonishingly bad! Plus they reintroduced riding duels but it wasn't even "riding duels" properly speaking. The only reason why I watched this arc was because the duels were good, honestly, the openings were good as well, and because they forshadowed yuya and yugo dueling since the beginning... But no. Actually, they never interacted. So now let me get this straight... The show turns around four boys and four girls, but now one of these boys was killed and is now useless, one of them didn't interact with any of the two remaining while being the most important ( talking about yuya ) and we don't know anything about the last one except... He is evil. Taking about the girls, we only know two of them. SO! this arc might have great duels and... Character development, I agree on that, it was more than useless, and they should have used that on the xyz which was super short, but had the potential to be good. As the show goes on we meet Alexis, who appears like twice and gets killed by yuri, and Edo Phoenix, whoo didn't win once... And looks like a kid here. We also meet kaito and.. yeah he is cool here. But still we are near the end and we have no clue what the two remaining girls even look like, why is Leo akaba doing evil things, why is Yuri evil or even why yuya and yugo didn't even met.. I mean are they even going to meet each other ? (no). Now in the last 20 episodes we see the two remaining girls... As possessed antagonists, so we don't know more about them, except that they are possessed and that they are girls. There. Now another disappointment; the fight between Yugo and Yuri. We have been warned about this fight for ages, probably before the beginning of the synchro arc, don't really remember. And then... The fight happens and well ... It was interrupted by kaito and Edo, reasoning yugo for too long, then being unnecessarily beaten, then Yuri beats yugo. One of the worse fight in yugioh honestly, while being the one with the most potential. Now at this rate I really feel like the show really doesn't know what to do with its tone. We first move from a really dark despair scene to a happy toned colourful scene where yuya teaches a guy like BB, who is almost a monster who killed hundred of people, that dueling is fun and that you should... Always smile and all. This was absolutely unnecessary and in the end, I feel like his dueling style is getting old and forced. Same for the action cards; it would have been a lot better if they left the action trap in game, cause it's just a reason for the characters not to lose and it doesn't look like your capacities at all.
At final, Leo is a terrible antagonist who kills thousand of people to revive his daughter but can't stand the fact Yuri turns Alexis into a card ? What ? And he was bad, the duel against him was even worse and yeah, terrible. Ultimately Yuri doesn't have a reason to be evil, except ... Like he had no friends and was taken in charge by the professor and all, and in the end he felt like a worse version of vector. Oh and also, it's been 50 episodes Yuzu didn't fight. What a waste. After that zarc is revived and he has a op deck and kills Everyone, while crow is being reborned for no reason, just for people to fanboy on him ( just kidding he was a good character ) and everything, though Zarc is a bad antagonist as well. I mean, he was a duelist who liked to fun, but the spectators asked violence so he wanted to destroy the universe. That's all ( yep, there wasn't a single good antagonist in this show ). And then comes the worst conclusion ever where every yu-girls are dead, where every yu-boys are dead, where a tons of duel happen just for the show, and where the professor and Yuri are now nice... I guess.
In the end there was a lot of forgotten characters as well, like Sora who was almost absent for half of the second part of this show, Yuzu, the yu-girls in general, Alexis, that smart boy who wanted to join the lancer ( can't remember his name ), Masumi, Yaiba and Hokugo, who I really loved at first, even goenzaka didn't do much for the second half, and a lot more.
In the end, this show had potential, ok,but was really bad in my final opinion, I didn't hate it but...yeah it wasn't great. It leads it to be my last yugioh series if I were to make a top:
    1: 5D's
    2:Zexal ( more like Zexal II )
    3:GX
    4:Vrains
5:DM ( if I counted the manga, it would probably be 1st )
    6: Arc V
I don't know where I will put Sevens, but I have expectations in this series
( Also, I found Zexal to have a lot of great tunes, like tragic decisions, once more Hope, freed heart, duel of souls or bound... Are eternal )

The thing about Yugioh animes, is that you need to understand how they're viewed by Konami. Konami doesn't see the Yugioh animes as pieces of art that are cherished by people the world over. They're just commercials meant to sell product. So allot of narrative decisions, ESPECIALLY when it comes to Arc V. Are made based on what Konami thinks will make them the most money. Why aren't the DM characters in Arc V? Because Konami was already producing a 20th anniversary movie for DM. That's main Hook, was being the first time we'd seen most of these characters since DM ended. If they showed up in Arc V, that impact would be lessened. Plus it's not hard to image that Shonen Jump & Shueisha have a larger stake in the DM characters than Konami. Since DM started out as a Shonen Jump series. Which means Konami would have to play ball with them if they wanted to do anything major with those characters.
Why aren't Judei, Yusei & Yuma in Arc V? Because Konami doesn't want to give away a big Protag team up for free. Especially when they know, how much money they could potentially make from a crossover movie/mini-series in the future. Plus it's not hard to imagine that Studio Gallop was more interested in celebrating the series & characters that THEY created. Especially since DM was already getting a big movie, on top of being the only Yugioh that pop culture bothers to remember.
I also wouldn't be shocked to learn that their chose of Legacy Character was influenced by what Konami felt like selling at the time. Especially with how gung-ho Konami has become with printing legacy support for old archetypes in the last few years. You know they were chomping at the bit to release new Blackwing stuff. Because they know how popular Blackwings are and they know new Blackwing stuff will sell well.
You can't view the Anime and the actual Yugioh TCG as two separate entities. They're twins conjoined at the hip. One influences the other constantly and vice versa. They're both nothing but tools to make Konami richer and any decision made regarding either is made with the sole goal of making Konami more money. It's why a good portion of the WDC Preliminaries were dedicated to Yuma promoting the upcoming XYZ starter deck. It's why Konami has hedged the success of several sets on anime fans buying them simply because it has cards from a character they like. It's just business, nothing more or less.
I think the Arc V manga had the right idea chucking the Dimension shit & Legacy Characters. BUT. If you HAVE to have them. I would have also chucked the Dimension shit. Have one singular Dimension and just have the Legacy Characters be regular people who just exist there. Timeline Theorists be damned. Have them rotate in and out as single episode guest characters who are considered Famous/Legendary duelists. They teach Yuya, Yuzu, Shingo...whoever. An important life lesson, promote some cards releasing in the next set, then leave. As my Grandmother would say "Thank Ya, Fuck Ya, Goodbye". Are they the same characters from the old shows? Or new versions native to Arc V's universe? Who gives a shit.
So in short. Konami is the Japanese equivalent of Ubisoft. The Yugioh animes only exist to sell products and will always be handicapped because of it. Konami has our figurative nuts in a vice and we have no escape. Sorry for the book report.

Gallop were still the ones that let popular archetypes with meta potential completely fall by the wayside for no apparent reason other than they were used by girls.

    @strelitziamystery21 Před rokem +3

I'm actually glad you liked Yuya a lot!
    *Spoilers*
Whenever I've talked to the few people I know who have watched Arc-V they tell they that didn't like Yuya and would have rathered a different protagonist like Yuto or Yugo.
I think Yuya IS what makes the dark narrative so good. Yuya is a good friendly boy who would absolutely rather having fun entertaining over anything else. So when Beserk mode happens it feels so f#cking wrong. I don't think the people in the show can see the glowing eyes or the dark aura most of the time because anime rules and it's more for the audience's sake though.
But imagine we couldn't see that stuff. I can see Yuto being brutal due to the traumatic war he's been fighting. I can see Yuri going beserk because he's a crazy child soldier. I can even see Yugo losing it due to being a common who's quick to temper desperately trying to find Rin (insert Judai going crazy trying to find Johan and losing himself to the darkness within).
But you can't see Yuya ever getting that angry. It's not like Yuya doesn't have reason too either. For three years he has bullied for being Yusho's kid and basically has been the shame of the city. Also his dad did actually go missing too.
But Yuya stayed as this kind person would just wants you to smile and hates the idea of a war much less to fight in one.
So seeing Yuya snap as a character of the show and us watching it... it's incredibly disturbing. It also hypes up Zarc too everytime he's able to complete override the four Yu-boy's free will.
If it was any of the others then beserk mode and Zarc's foreshadowing wouldn't have made such an impact.
(I still love the fact Yuya was technically beserk in ep 1 but it just didn't show us the glowing eyes and dark aura. Arc V was good, but the Last arc was just a slap, they tried to rush everything and it became a mess, and i will never forgive them to not make Yuri having a Rehab to live in society and making all the Yu Boys and Girls become only one, they could have made the person who defeated Yuri offer itself to become friends with Yuri, or something like that, i would 100% accept Serena or Sawatari defeating him, the boy became a sociopath because of loneliness and the super egocentric personality, defeat would break the ego and an offer of friendship would break the loneliness, period, also, in the end of Zarc's duel, not make Yuya, Yuto, Yugo and Yuri become just Yuya with 4 souls, shit we saw completely different characters with their own resolves and stories just become one, god damn it, Yuri just became good out of sudden inside Yuya's body! And Yugo just got OK with not being able to do shit himself! THIS PISSES ME OFF! but the series was really cool, at least until Synchro arc, because Xyz/Fusion arcs sucked ass, They destroyed Asuka and Edo

Arc v was fun ealry on reverse of zexal where it's bad beggining using the duel monsters template to begin the story.
    My favorite series in order.
5ds gx vrain arc v duel monsters zexal
5ds just had the best ending and overall the best cast who all had good moments and jack is the best rival brother to yusie(who got to bat up people) and was great seeing yusie like Batman and Superman being our hero and only good boy currently not turned evil and no zone doesn't count. Gx judai is great himself but cast is mixed. Vrain while fun ended off badly. Arc v good concepts but comeos ruined it aside jack and Yuri was amazing as a villain always winning battles while action cards is messy done as pendulum was mainly just good guys as it would have been better to see mixing of older styles. Duel monsters while I loved battle city and the last duel it feels milked by the creators. Zexal couldn't like as much but did love kite

    • @ivanbluecool
      @ivanbluecool Před 4 lety

@KayfabeCandyass vrain being 5ds mirror made it good on start but the ending was super rushed and didn't even show us who all the pieces were. Overall ai and yusakus story was the best part with soulburner and revolver but the cast wasn't that good as some of them were unneeded or got in the way for the most part. A movie would have been nice to see but I doubt they will do anything now that seven started(then ended for a hiatus)
Arc v didn't have the best ending but overall it could have better too. Yuto was killed too soon and Yuri could have dueled more sooner instead of off screen duels as he was a better as guy than leo and zarc being basically judai and Aki. Season 1 of both arc v and vrains was amazing and it fell off from there for the most part in arc v while vrains the main duels were good but yusaku was badly done yusie as I knew the moment he got ai he wouldn't lose(aside backstory) and wanted more as the ai and human relationships were not fully fleshed out enough seeing 3 of them were useless for story aside showing how cruel ai were and also funny rewatching 5ds they are basically the red Nova's minion in style.
But yeah I enjoyed both but felt they needed more

    • @ivanbluecool
      @ivanbluecool Před 4 lety

@KayfabeCandyass arc v didn't need the duel Royal for yuya to beat a lot of people. He could have just fought reiji then his dad to end it off or set off on a journey to find himself like judai did. Arc v Manga was amazing overall aside that plot twist but everything else was great especially with Yuri yuto and yugo.
Vrains if the queen died then the main royal fighters could have came out to battle revolvers and yusakus groups could have been cool. Blue angel could have been better that way fighting the people who out her brother in the hardest positions as well. That and the ai with thier humans should have been better. 3 were lifeless overall so it wasn't so built up as well for the group aside the mains and specre seeing how the experience affected them.
Ghost girl was ok a duelist while her story was great as a better Mai. Go didn't like much as a worst crow as he basically abandoned his kids for selfish reasons. Overall great backstory to vrain cast but not deep connections as yusaku kept his secret for so long to aoi so it wasn't good for his school life. Even the duel club vanished so yeah many dropped plot points.

I wasn't that fond because Sector Security was so evil. In 5Ds while they were usually antagonists they rarely were actually bad people. The only one who really was just an asshole was Armstrong. But Ushio did have pride as a duelist, kept his promises and was open minded when seeing the other side of satalite. The mustache chief who arrested Kiryu had plenty of reason to do so. He had bombed a federal building and killed a police officer. A lot of times when the characters were attacked by security it was for just reasons.
Also a lot of the satalite people themselves were scum so security was even welcome at times. Also within security there was ranks such as when Usio get's rejected and told off when he wants to investigate the top since he's a lowly officer from Satalite. Or when Godwin is disgusted with Armstrong's random acts of cruelty and pathetic abilities. Godwin was obviously untrustworthy but not obviously evil. I would describe him more as lawful neutral. He wants to gather the signers to fight the dark signers and he doesn't care if he has to use kindness or threats to do this. His motivation isn't really evil and while he enjoys the power he has he doesn't revel in it and truly has the best interests of the people at heart.

I just marathoned through this series under quarantine. In a lot of ways it feels like the best Yugioh I’ve ever seen (haven’t seen Vrains yet, that’s next) - especially plot structure and character progression. But I do agree there’s a bunch of wasted potential here. The same-but-different crossover stuff didn’t bother me at all, but it did feel like at some point halfway through the Xyz dimension arc they just had to start rushing through plot beats. The ending felt rushed and very uneven in sharp contrast to how deliberate and well paced most of the first half (3/4ths?) is. And then the politics are frustrating because they raise a lot of powerful questions but settle for shallow answers. The fact that they play “your princess is in another castle” with Yuzu is also.. sigh. But overall it gave me a lot more to chew on than most of these dumb card game shows that I love. Also, yes, Syun rocks and gets two of the best duels ever - vs Sora when the plot kicks into high gear and vs Denis with the most spetacular finish ever.

In s1 he was just a...you know, this type of character, but beyond that, he is friendly with prog, doesnt despite him at all (or any more than everyone else). He is just a friendly character willing to fight, and also sadly portrayed as weak, but still thinking he is strong. that bothers me, since he is actually strong, he just gets opponents he isnt allowed to win against....
I also hate the confusion about Reiji being a rival or some kind of that. He really isnt a rival AT ALL. Just a very smart manipulator who is also strong, that fights for good. • @tayirnull1567
    @tayirnull1567 Před 4 lety +4

ARC-V was a decent anime for me overall. But the show itself could have improved on certain things.
Yuya is over reliant on action cards, which seems like he is cheating throughout the duel while his opponent rarely uses them. His philosophy based on happiness is justifiable since he wants to entertain everyone with his action duels. He should be more serious at times without saying his catchphrase, "Ladies and Gentlemen". Although I'll have to admit that when he goes into berserk mode, this is the kind of Yuya I often like to see, but should be shown on occasions when his anger is reasonable enough to activate his inner soul, along with Yuto's infused soul.
Yuzu should master all the summoning methods to not only be as strong as the protagonist, but to also boost her character development. Hell, had she took on a bit of Serena's persona, Yuzu would've been a strong female duelist throughout ARC-V. It's a shame that her personality regressed later on during the show.
Yu-boys and Bracelet Girls could have interacted more, especially since Yuya and Yuzu don't know much about Rin, personally. After the second battle between Zarc and Ray, they split into 4 counterparts once again, but this time they remain unchanged and regain memories of their adventures. Instead of having the three counterparts in Yuya's and Yuzu's bodies, they should have their own because I can't imagine them being stuck inside for eternity. Yuri reconciles with his other counterparts and decides to change his ways of thinking. He should at least apologize to Ruri, Rin, and Yuzu after what he has done, based on Leo's orders.
I wish there was an arc that is about the restoration of the dimensions after the Academia invasion and Zarc's downfall. For example, Yuya and Yuzu visit the synchro dimension to check up on how society has changed for the better: citizens from ex-Tops and ex-Commons live in harmony. How the administrative council is effectively running. Yugo's and Rin's D-Wheel being rebuilt with the help of their pendulum counterparts, with Yuya in particular who brought the whole of City to a bright future after his duel against Jack. Then comes the xyz dimension, the most damaged out of all dimensions. Buildings and structures are being rebuilt. We see Ruri being with her brother at long last. Shun vows to never let her be harmed again, and embraces her. Yuto meets up with his friends and hopes that the old days will come back once his home has been fully restored.
Some characters were sort of a nuisance like the shivers kid and the fortunetelling girl, but they gave some comedic vibes, at the very least...

  • @jaernihiltheus7817

I've always figured Standard Dimension was the Duel Monsters Dimension, since there's 4 shows and 4 dimensions at the time it aired. The in-universe explanation for no DM references would simply be because they take place in different parts of Japan.
As for the last Season, the biggest problem with it - and really the biggest problem of the entire show imo - is that it was very obviously meant to be 5 seasons long, that's what the plan (almost definitely) was. 1 season for each dimension, final season to wrap up any and all loose ends (think GX season 4). The reason the XYZ arc, Fusion arc, and post-big bad wrap up arc felt so cramped and unsatisfying is because they were meant to take place over the course of 50-ish episodes each, not 50-ish episodes total. Which is why you get things like only 1 (major) legacy character from Zexal and 2 from GX and 5ds, or how instead of just actually showing Ana Kaboom and Tori Meadows (Idr their J. names), they have the brother and sister have similar personalities and decks (Trains and Fairy Cheer Girl) as a nod to those 2 characters that would otherwise go unacknowledged at all.
The XYZ arc suffers the most from the story thinning, followed by the last round (still bummed that SPOILERS: We never got a fully merged Yuya/Yuto/Yugo/Yuri vs fully merged Zuzu/Lulu/Rin/Celina duel, even if it would've only been just 1 episode, just the idea of a duel where the duelists are essentially going back and forth between 4 separate decks each half of which don't work together and somehow stitching them into a workable anime deck through epic card game shenanigans keeps me up at night). Honestly, I think that the Fusion arc suffers the least from the show's ending being rushed, with exception of certain parts of Rei's explanations (they do a good job of making everything work, but they weren't indepth enough to do anything more than that imo) and the facts that we never were able to get a possessed Zuzu fight, and that the Fusion Yusho school ended up basically just being fodder for Joeri/Yuri's kill count and ended as quickly as it was introduced. Still though, Fusion arc worked narratively, if briefly, whereas the XYZ arc's narrative itself was undercut by them having to rush through everything.

    • @TehKaiser
      @TehKaiser Před rokem

It's that it is an homage adaptation of other entertainment and even pulls in history and politics(the high council is a fusion of Jedi Council and the powers of the West, and the presider is "Washington").
      The brain power to blend:
      Final Fantasy VII
      Neon Genesis Evangelion
Digimon Tamers(and Digimon in general; this anime is an unofficial Digimon story, with the digital monsters being real and ZARC being able to hear them)
      Inuyasha(maybe)
      Star Wars(Roger/Roget is Palpatine)
      Tokusatsu(Maybe Super Sentai)
required more time and money than the writers had.
Rin, to me, looks like an "American" on the Ray-girls body.
The Celina and Ruri/Lulu duel is a homage to alien movies, with me believing it is based on "The Faculty".

They can’t really approach it, and it’s just a function of the plot so that no magic protagonist or other powerful groups could reasonably stop academia.
Also the lack of DM pandering is explained when the ending was rushed because a lot of the staff were moved out to work on dark side of dimensions, a sequel to DM.

The only time where the original 4 protagonists coming into the plot during the events of Arc-V would IMO be the Z-Arc battle royale. Imagine when Rei comes out to face Z-ARC and after her turn is done, Yuma steps in and joins, then Yusei, then Jaden, then Yugi. Between those 5, they not only manage to break through Z-ARCs defenses, but also manage to all survive the turn, then the other protagonists are essentially like "finish him off for us, would you?" to Rei, and that would be how the gauntlet ends. After the likes of Jack, Crow, Aster, Sylvio, Alexis (she really should've been part of that, if Crow can be then Alexis can be as well IMO. Plus she uses the one summoning method Z-ARC wasn't prepared to completely counter and negate), etc etc.
That's the only time the other protagonists could reasonably come into the fray without making the Yu-boys and the bracelet girls feel unnecessary (especially if we're talking "end of their series/full power" protagonists.

I did also like how they showed more. While that was his character in 5DS it wasn't really shown off all that much since it was overshadowed by the larger story of the Dark signers.
I think that is also why he was better implemented than Jack since there was more room to work with. Jack already had gone through his entire arc and had a lot of screen time. During the early portions of 5ds there wasn't that much of a plot so all the characters got to shine to their maximum. When Crow was introduced they couldn't really take their time with him since there was the dark signers looming over.
With Jack it would mostly just be seeing things we've already seen before. With Crow it's seeing things that were implied but never really shown.

I'm still really pissed off the final boss wasn't fought by Yuuya or Yuuzu vs Yuuya. I would have loved Yuuya fighting the dark part of him and having to destroy the supreme dragons (basically the extra deck fusions like Rebellion dragon being xyz and pendulum at once) with the vanilla dimension dragons and those evil dragons having imprisons of the respective dimension girls. Likewise, it should have been Yuuzu vs Yuuya just as the show alluded to from episode 2, I HATE that so much. My god...

None of the boys were ever going to battle and defeat Z-ARC by themselves. They're all mentally damaged and this anime is partially a PSA on the state of mental health in Japan. Furthermore, it's pretty clear the anime was pulling from Cloud Strife's story(and the Advent Children of Sephiroth) from the beginning, and Cloud's love Aerith stays dead.

My least liked show after Zexal. First few episodes are a chore to get through. Things pick a bit when Yuto shows up, but not long after that the synchro arc begins and it's almost all downhill from there.

So, here's a minor reason for how short Xyz was, and how weirdly everything flowed at the end- near the end of the Synchro Dimension arc, the initial run was cut from an intended 200 episodes to 150, and then a further 2 episodes were cut *during the Duel with the final boss* which means that there are a grand total of 52 episodes that were in initial planning were cut from the docket during the run.

@@christopherb501 One of the animators left several (since deleted, unfortunately) Twitter posts explaining how the higher-ups kept cutting their budget, and mentioned how the writing crew was forced to cut episodes because the execs wanted a fast exit button due to the show's falling performance in about the Synchro arc (due to lowered animation budget, due to the staff and money being siphoned off to work on DSoD). Anything beyond the episode and budget cuts themselves, and their ties to DSoD and the general dislike the series garnered on NicoNico, is speculation, however.

I kinda feel that Yuya was Jaden done right, I never liked how Jaden was just a one note character up until season 3 onward, I know a lot of people like to shit on Arc V as a whole because of the last season and...it has issues sure, but I think ranking a lot of them in the 'worst episodes in TV history' is a bit of a knee jerk reaction imo

    • @crimsonhero3583

Yuya is Jaden done wrong. His character is inconsistent and all lessons he learns in some episode, he completely forgets later on.
Yuya on paper could've been any excellent character, but as entirety of Arc-V, writers really fucked it up.

I saw this one video that explained the timelines of the Yu-Gi-Oh series and it suggested that the synchro dimension where yusei was part of isn't part of the main universe, because in yusei's universe the meltdown happened but in the synchro dimension (arc5) it's apparantly not so

*cracks knuckles* I'm gonna ramble, 'scuse me.
BOY am I glad to see more people who not only likes Yuya and thinks he's a fun type of protagonist for this series, but also likes the action duels. I find them immensely fun, it adds some motion to the duels. And the decks for each character fits them so well it's mindblowing, even adding some characterisation if you think about it(like I do, cause I love this show goddamn). Summoning chants are hype as hell.
Is it sad that despite the shit this show puts it's female characters through, I still think it's among the best among the ygo series' for the treatment of it's girls? Serena is such a rare breed of female character in shounen, allowed to be angry, prideful, stubborn, and arrogant, all without being told by the narrative she has to change. Her two big turning points as a character are seeing that what she's been told is wrong and that war is not just, and the second is to just enjoy dueling. That duel is among the best in the whole series, srsly. I could say more but this is long enough already, geez. In the end I still love them so much. Rin's my favourite by far.
(SPOILER TALK) I feel like your problem with the show not explaining why the other dimensions are different are pretty well explained by the fact that the world was literally shattered into four before the start of the show? And the original world was the one where the past shows took place. The Fusion dimension is pretty drastically different to the one in GX already, the island not even having the same look anymore.
Adding the past protagonists would just take the focus away from the new characters and make it feel bloated, something Arc V already has a problem with in regards to some legacy characters taking focus that should have gone to the new ones(looking at you Crow).
Also, uh, if you're ever gonna do another video on Arc V or Yugioh in general... please, either get ahold of raw footage or don't play the video audio in the background when you're talking. I hear two different voices ALONG with my eyes being drawn to the text. It makes it really hard to take in anything you're saying so I have to look away, but since I understand a fair bit of japanese even that is difficult.

I feel compelled to talk about this ongoing fanfic I'm reading where it's basically Arc-V but the previous protagonists are actually involved and it's frickin' amazing. Long story short, they're essentially trying to Stop Arc-V (the series) from happening before it even begins and it's frickin' amazing.

I really enjoyed Arc V it’s one of my absolute personal favourites one of the things I don’t like is how everyone can just interrupt everyone else’s duels I hate it when that happens especially when Yousho interrupts Yuya , Declan and Leo’s duel the creators shouldn’t let that happen they should’ve just let Yuya/Yuto Aka Zarc deal the final blow and finish Leo off one of my favourite duels with the Yu boys is Yuya and Yuto against Yuri and Yugo something else I didn’t like is when Kite and Aster interrupted Yuri and Yugo’s duel.

5ds did this too. Jack and yusie did fusion a lot and trude was shocked seeing yusie was able to synchro. Zexal vrain made them disappear for the most part.
Arc v did it nice seeing all the styles and making fusion seem special.
Also 5ds was the celebration as yusie met judai and Yugi in both manga movie and anime.

My favourite theory is that these aren't the originals but recreations of the time periods where each dimensions method was most prominent with each of the previous protagonists being used as the spoiler antagonist (from the ending) 4 pieces vessels and it also serves as an explanation as to why joeri (Yuri In dub) is so twisted as the corresponding protagonist is both the supreme king And has yubel attached to there soul so using them as a vessel was a fatal mistake by spoilers who uses Reyra (Riley in dub) as a vessel
