He was born to Willowpelt and was apprenticed as Graypaw to Lionheart, quickly befriending Firepaw, a former kittypet, the two forming a lifelong friendship. After becoming a warrior, Graystripe mentored Brackenfur. While out in the forest, he was rescued by Silverstream, a RiverClan warrior, after falling through the icy river.
