Looking forward to the review on this, along with how the radar performs, especially the FOV coverage
Agreed! The built-in radar and wide FOV is very impressive! Stay tuned, and it shouldn't be much longer of a wait.
@@blackboxmycar sweet! To clarify, meant FOV of the radar solution (as opposed to camera coverage).
Great job ! but can you explain how you have close the fuse cover with obd port cable ?
Glad you liked it! The OBD cable should not require you to close the fuse box or cover, as the OBD port is separate.
I have the U1000 (hardwired) installed in my Tucson can I use the same cables for the U1000 for the U3000 if I upgrade my Dashcam?
You can totally use the same hardwiring cable, but the front and rear cable has been changed, and would need to be replaced.
Great review Sir! Thanks.
My only concern is whether the dash cam itself can tracked if stolen. I'm looking for a dash cam that can be tracked if stolen (GPS built-in) even when its battery is run out!
What brand would you recommend, Sir?
This camera can track the vehicle if the vehicle is stolen, but there's no camera out there that can continue supplying this info once it's removed from power. This U3000 and BlackVue cloud systems can however remotely upload footage when they are being taken down, so you'll have precise details on the incident itself.
I’m wondering about how to install the rear camera on our F 150? The center window opens from side to side.
You can still totally install a rear camera to an F150, you'll just need to position the rear camera off to the side of your center rear windshield. Normally this will only slide out in 1 direction, so mount on the other side. The viewing angle should be fine with a sufficiently wide angle.
hi there. i am interested to know on how to ensure 24/7 connectivity using Thinkware Connected service. Does u3000 comes with a builit in 4G LTE sim card slot or a separate 4G LTE module like Blackvue's CM100GLTE?
or we gonna have to use a sort of portable 4G router attached to a powerbank or battery pack inside our car? But having that will raise fire hazard concern yes?
Hi there. Thinkware does not currently have an option for a SIM slot or an LTE module. The most common option t provide a 24/7 connection as mentioned would be through a portable router or mobile hotspot as you mentioned. There is nothing inherent to this that would be a fire hazard, though if you were using a cheap USB power bank, that may be cause for concern. We'd recommend a dash cam battery pack, with modern options having a USB port you can use to connect the mobile hotspot.
Hi, does the obd port set up work with electric vehicles? I am thinking to get this for my BMW iX1, thx
The Thinkware U3000's OBD cable is universal, and will work with standard gas, hybrid, and full electric vehicles!
Can you explain how the Thinkware OBD connector handles parking mode? Any situations where it doesn't work reliably?
For sure! The OBD cable communicates with the on-board systems of the vehicle, which will convey if the engine has been turned on or off, going into parking mode accordingly. Generally the OBD cable is very reliable, though a few car models have some incompatibilities, such as a few start and stop engines.
Looks good.
Mighr be my next camera
@@blackboxmycar I do have engine stop and start in my car. I'm hoping the OBD cable senses when the engine is turned on and that by setting a longer timeout before the U3000 transitions to park mode, I can make the U3000 transition to park mode. If the OBD cable that comes bundled with the U3000 doesn't detect engine turn on/stop, I might try other OBD cables such as the EchoMaster or maybe a dedicated latching phantom ignition module might work before I resort to tapping into an existing ACC line like the one that goes to my powered mirror and sensors behind the mirror...
@@blackboxmycar what cars are those? any issues with a new mazda 6?
The Thinkware Cloud app doesn’t have a U3000 device selection. Im sure they will soon but is this something we all are waiting for or am i doing something wrong?
Ah, yes it has been fully moved to the Thinkware Dash Cam Link app! The Thinkware Cloud app will not work for the U3000
How is the battery effected if it is running 24/7? Specifically on a hybrid. There are times when my car won’t be used for up to 3-4 days at a time. Thank you
Do keep in mind this is wired to the accessory battery, not the main battery. Once the voltage cut-off is reached, normally after 6-8 hours of parking mode, then the camera will stop drawing power. This could be extended to 1-2 days with the energy efficient built-in radar modules of the U3000. The voltage cut-off can be fully configured and fine-tuned through the settings of the camera.
Is this u3000 capable with multiplexer? Ever tried? Thanks!
Unfortunately the U3000 is not compatible with the Multiplexer, we recommend the Thinkware F200 Pro for the Multiplexer.
I just got mine u3000 bundle (with powercell) delivered that I ordered from you guyz , what would be the best way to recharge powercell ? Hardwire or 12v socket ? I dont want to effect car battery
Glad to hear you've just received the camera! Hardwiring is recommended as it allows for slightly faster charging. It should be hardwired to an accessory fuse that turns on and off with the vehicle, so rest assured there will not be an effect on the car battery, no more than listening to the radio while you drive.
Can you view real time video stream from your phone anywhere? Like a security camera?
You totally can! This feature is through the Thinkware connected app, which has been seriously improved from the U1000 model. The camera will need an internet connection to latch onto nearby to be viewed remotely.
@@blackboxmycar do you have any recommendations for a wifi/lte hotspot box I can keep in a car with a sim?
It does very much depend where you live, speak to your cell-service provider and they should have a few options. I've heard good things about Mi-Fi hotspots, like the Verizon one. Do also keep in mind that the hotspot will need to stay powered to keep the camera connected to the cloud. If you get a hotspot without an internal battery for powering when the car is off, then getting a battery pack for the camera can be helpful, as modern ones have a USB port you can connect the hotspot to.
@@HellzHonour Verizon offers it but it’s not cheap.
I have the U1000 and definitely you can live stream with a connected hotspot. Mine it’s a connected to a T-Mobile hotspot and works flawlessly however I’d recommend to get a data plan of at least 10GB or more.
Can I use my u1000 hardwire for this u3000???
You totally can!! It's the exact same power cable. The front and rear cable is different, and would need to be changed
Is it safe to have this running off the OBD port? Some mechanics say the OBD port wasnt meant to run(power) 24/7, and can lead to cars computer death????
Yes, I can confirm that using the OBD port as a constant power supply for a dash cam is safe, and we have countless users doing so daily. I can understand the concern of mechanics, given the base function of the OBD port is for access to the vehicle's computer, but the power draw is so low there is no risk
I have 5% tint on the back of my car, will the rear camera still be able to see?
The rear camera will have no issues with this tint!
i have a u1000 dashcam, so I cant use the same cable for the rear camera and will need to fish a new cable
The power cable is the same, but the front and rear cable for the U3000 is unique! For a more in-depth answer, we have that written here: support.blackboxmycar.com/en-US/does-the-thinkware-u3000-have-the-same-cables-as-other-thinkware-models-260907
Does this dash cam allow the multiplexer to be connected
Unfortunately the Thinkware U3000 is not compatible with the Thinkware Multiplexer. The only camera we offer that works with the Multiplexer is the Thinkware F200 Pro.
That's too bad. That's a miss IMO.
Hi sir, I’m just wondering what if the SD card will get full do we need to format the sd card or its automatic will delete all the videos? Thanks you
This camera will automatically loop over existing footage. You can even fine-tune what footage types it prioritizes in the settings of this unit.
Thank you

Mine comes in Monday I'm hyped i can finally sell my 900xplus
Excited for ya! Let us know how it goes Captain!
does this installation void hyundai warranty?
Generally it would not, especially if you have a professional do it. However, it's always up to your dealership, so speak to them first.
it would have been easier if it had been installed on the module next to the mirror
Announce me when you make one plugged into the rear mirror
Thanks for the feedback! While mirror taps are very neat, we find they normally don't provide enough data for our dash cams to go in and out of parking mode properly
Too fast video to get any help for front Camera installation
