  • Build based on:
    - Chinese CarbonBeam carbon gravel rims (24 mm internal, 30 mm external, 35 mm height) - standard model 411 grams (each)
    - ARC MT-007 hubs, 28 holes, 430 grams (pair)
    - Sapim leader spokes and brass nipples (standard, not light version)
    - Tufo Speedero 700x40c tires, 420 grams (each)
    - Stan's notubes sealant
    - OEM tape and valves
Front wheel: 801 grams (no tape and valve)
Rear wheel: 908 grams ( no tape and valve)
It would be possible to easily loose 100 grams on spokes per each wheel, but I want to make it as reliable as possible and keep the costs down. Total price for the parts was approx 450 USD.

The arc 007 only has 4 pawls x 3 teeth each.
So imagine how amazing this would sound if you had the 6 pawlx3 teeth variant.... Or even the 34 and 54t hub variants. Great sound at the low end of arc's product

shit can get in the hub , but they are really easy to open and clean, its a good compromise

Your videos have been very helpful, thanks! How do the ARC Hubs hold up after use in wet and muddy conditions? I hope you can do a detailed review of your ARC Hubs, I'm also thinking of using them for a gravel build. Cheers!

Thank you, happy to hear this ;-). I have been using 2 sets and both work very well, the older one was used for over a year on a gravel bike, mostly in good conditions, but muddy and wet rides also happened from time to time. The seals are good, although it is a pitty they did not use additional seal outside of the freehub body. Bearings inside the hubs work perfectly 5/5, bearings in the freehub are working good 4-/5 after 3kkm. The construction is smart and modern, I would compare them to budget DT350 hubs. So far it works great! Maybe a revirew video after another year of usage is a good idea.

hello what did you do for spoke length difference? On rear freewheel hub the driveside pitch diameter is unusually smaller than on the non driveside.I can`t see how you can achieve higher spoke tension on the driveside using required longer spokes.

Hmm, to be honest I do not remember any issues when calculating the spoke length for these hubs. Remember there is also rim asymmetry and typically in classic wheel, spokes can be longer/shorter of 1-2mm and still it is possible to get good tension from both sides. This however can vary and I usually go for 1mm shorter than what is being calculated on the web.

Hello what’s the performance of that set?

Holding very well, done approx 7kkm so far without any issue, will need to replace the bearings in the hub driver soon.

Hi sir, My bike Riverside 500.. I want to change front and rear ARC sealed bearing hub.. What model arc hub suitable my bike.. please help.. My bike rim 28 spoke 700×35c tyre with 9 speed.

    • @custombikefactory

I assume, you have 100mm QR in the front and 135mm QR in the back - for this combination, you can use ARC model MT007F (front) and MT007R (rear) hubs. If your fork/frame uses wider, through-axle, than you will need additional endcups (for 12mm or 15mm through axle). For the freehub, you need a standard Shimano HG, which is default option with these hubs and will work fine with 9 speed systems. Hope this helps!
