I saw this in the theaters when they first released this back in late 82... I appreciate the fact that they didn't kill it with a sequal or trilogy... This movie is not only stand alone, but also has withstood the test of time for all future generations!

True fact: After the success of E.T, studios asked Spielberg to write a sequel, he refused, they insisted and put pressure on him, so he wrote some crap, like an E.T invasion, red eyes and laser coming out of their fingers, E.T was the only one who could help Elliot and mankind. Obviously this idea was rejected but later on recycled by Spielberg himself when he produced...

ET Extra Terrestrial wouldn’t have been a Box Office hit if it wasn’t for John Williams.
His film score was of the charts and that is what won him Academy Award for Best Original Score in 1983.
Recently lost my Grandma, needed to hear E.T words to remind me where she'll be, in my heart.

I saw this movie 40 years ago in theatres when I was 12 years old. It always makes me cry. It is by far one of the greatest movies of all time. It certainly is in my top 3 movies of all time. I would watch this again in theatres. LOVE THIS MOVIE.

Though I'm 62 now, I was never able to give my E.T. teddy bear away...not even to my Son. Always kept it near my bed😂.

I just melt at the part at the end of the movie when ET hugs Elliot! It reminds me of when my great niece and nephews hug me when they see me,or leave me!
This is pitch perfect. I was 11 when this movie came out and I saw it. I cried like a baby at this part. Still gets me emotional when I see it all these years later. Beautiful.

I wouldn’t mind if Spielberg gave us one more E.T., or Jurassic Park, or Hook before he departs from us. One more adventure story that comes from his 8 year old heart.
I always wanted to know more about E.T.s fellow alien 👽 crew , what’s their story? Were they on an expedition, reconnaissance mission? What’s their home-world like?
E.T.’s said to be a botanist on a research expedition. This makes the ending of the movie all the more profound because it means the kids not only saved his life and got him back to his ship, they helped fulfill his mission to Earth. At the beginning of the movie, E.T. was digging up a small tree, but didn’t get to keep it because men chased him away. The kids gave him a new plant, the pot of flowers, to take home with him.

I was 8 years old, and I remember my Dad took me and my younger Brother to see it in the theater. I was sobbing 😭 so hard at that scene when ET hugged Elliott.
Now I’m 50, and watching it still brings a tear to my eye 👁️
I love this scene because of the Mom she goes down on her knees as she's looking at her son how proud she is of him
