Could you consider wearing a lighter color shirt so that the head wouldnt blend into your shirt. It would be easier to see. Thanks love your videos.
YES!
Agreed
Muy buena acotación 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 en realidad me costó un poco ver cómo iba cortando 🤷🏻♀️
This 100%
Wow a no BS guide on cutting mens hair. No ads every 60 seconds or subscribe here. Concise, detailed and well explained information with passion. Great!
Those CZcams sites that have ads get paid by CZcams that's why there ads all over the place on the videos plus there is an ad-blocker for CZcams and it removes most of the ads from the videos. The ad-blocker however does not work on CZcams on your cell phones.
Thank you for this video! Almost every men’s hair cutting class/demo I’ve ever taken is always shorter men’s haircuts. I struggle to find a way to cut longer mens cuts without feminizing them. This video gives me a guideline to use on my male clientele with longer hair. I will definitely be applying these techniques in the salon.
I always used the same cutting technique for a short men's haircut except I don't/won't take off as much as I would for the short haircut, This instructor/stylist basically used the technique for the basic haircut and the long layer cut combined by just taking off less hair and used the point cut to take weight off so the layers will lay/blend easier. I remember learning this cut in beauty school.
Quarantine’s got me and my partner trying haircuts on each other, trying to mend our own clothes, trying to cook restaurant dishes, trying to detail our own car interiors- trying to wear the hats of all y’all professional service industry folks. I have learned that I need to TIP MORE THAN 20% FROM NOW ON! This shit is difficult and requires real artistic skills and engineering mindset.
I like how each step is explained in detail with reasons! Makes so much sense.
This is amazing. My partner loves to grow his hair out but never has the guts to get it cut like this. I think it would look great on him. If you ever do this cut again on another mannequin without having to redo the narrating (which is awesome and clear), if you wore a shirt that lets us see the hair contrasted against your clothes rather than black hair+black clothes it would be even more awesome! I will rewatch this video many times though 🥰
My partner had his hair cut at an expensive salon after 2 years of quarantine growth.
It was terrible.
I went in with this video and fixed it and he is in love with it. THANK YOU!!!
What is the name of that hairstyle? And what I so ask my barber if I want that same hairstyle like in the video?
Wow he looks great! almost like a doll...
I agree
hahahaha
I’ve watched several tutorials for men’s longer layered hair and chose this one to help me cut my son’s hair. I love how well Matt explains each step. Just wish he wore a white shirt so I could see some details a little better on my phone.
Just did my dad’s hair and his curls fell even more pretty! thank you for teaching us 😊
I’m only two minutes in and this is already one of the best tutorials for long men’s hair! Will be following it tonight
What is the name of that hairstyle? And what I so ask my barber if I want that same hairstyle like in the video?
My son loves his long hair and prefers me cutting it at home. This is something we can both get through with a fantastic result at the end!
Im in quarantine with my best friend and I’m going to cut his hair tonight wish me luck. I’m a nurse not a hairdresser
So, did he killed you ?
"bestfriend"
How did it go?
It...went. Haha not too shabby originally, but now that’s it’s grown out again you can tell it’s a bad cut. Time to cut it again! 🤣
@@lizziebeatty1297 rip to my bros hair
I love your style and i have same kind of hairs i request you to try this cut on real model and please wear light shirts when you go for dark hair
Very great sectioning, very great advice! As an instructor and stylist the only thing I noticed that was offset for me was the first section you did under the occipital was square on the left side and the right side was a bit more graduated. Mens square layers are always timeless, I love your work!
just did this cut on my fiancé. i absolutely love this on curly hair as well!!! u are very good at explaining things thoroughly.
This is so helpful!! The black shirt made it a little hard to see the hair at times, but overall super helpful!! I’ll be trying on my bf tonight 😄
I'm still using this video to cut my husband's hair even after the pandemic. He says he likes it better than going to the salon. Thanks!
Just did this haircut on my boyfriend. Came out great! ❤
I love this, and thank you for the steady camera! Good explanations. Maybe a lighter color shirt with a dark-haired mannequin, or a light-haired mannequin with a dark shirt (more contrast). HTH.
Amazes me that these people aren’t slicing their fingers continually. So impressive!! ❤
This is the basic haircut we were taught in cosmetology school back in 1993.
It's really easy to cut yourself when you cut past the 2nd knuckle.
Wow, this video is made for me.
I've been growing my hair for a year now, without a specific goal in mind. *And now I've found it*
This is the EXACT haircut I want. Can't wait to show this to my barber.
We got a recommendation which product to use and I assume it's the same with hairsprays...so, which one to use then?
If your getting this kind of haircut what should u say? Layers? And I hope our barber will do the same effort.
@@ronaldfortaleza1177 I'll show him this video...
@@8tonystark8
How did it go?
@@nadim2911 he showed the barber the wrong video and got his hair bald instead.
What is the name of that hairstyle? And what I so ask my barber if I want that same hairstyle like in the video?
I followed this to do my boyfriend's hair (with some tweaks to match his style more) and he loves it! Thank you :)
Thank you so much for this video !… I just tried it on my son’s long hair and we liked it !!!
Been trying to find the name of this sort of hairstyle for ages and this is pretty much what I wanna go for!
Now I understand why mostly all of my new male clients ask me “why are you putting that on my hair” (referring to clips) they look very confused, until I say “it gives me more control to give you a precise and cool haircut” they usually say “my previous barber / lady who cut my hair doesn’t know this” lol!!
my boyfriend has this haircut and its grown out so long during quarauntine so im gonna try trimming it tonight😬 this was so helpful
how did it go? i’m thinking of doing the same to my boyfriend too
Me encanta como queda este corte
Se lo hago a mi hijo y le encanta 😉 gracias por compartir 😊
I love hairspray in my hair!
I got a lot out of this from how much section to take to how to direct the section to the size of the shears love this video I need to watch it again
Fabulous tutorial! Thanks so much. Can’t wait to try it out on my sons’ mops.
This haircut is awesome. Love how you explained the difference for a more masculine line for men. Thank you.
New hairstylist here and I cannot WAIT to cut my mans hair now 😩🔆💗😍😍😍!!
This video is awesome! Although, I prefer little longer that touch my shoulder. My former hairstylist cut my hair this way and he retired before covid hit. I've had him for over 25 years. I am still looking for his replacement.
I really loved this haircut. I am now growing hair to get this haircut. I am in 4 months. I have been watching this video regularly to get inspiration as time passing slowly.
What is the name of that hairstyle? And what I so ask my barber if I want that same hairstyle like in the video?
@@TheJokester85 Just show the video. They will understand.
@@rrifat1 ok thank you but will that be weird to show them a 10 minute video
@@TheJokester85 This is why you should select one barber whom you can trust. You are growing hair for a long time. 10 minutes won't be problem. Also, take one friend with you. I am in 5 months of growing hair now. It's only 4 cm now. I will update here if I can get my desired hair cut
This is the best video for doing a long cut on men’s hair and I watched a lot of them!
This is a super good video. It's been a couple years since I finished COS and I haven't touched hair since, this really helped cut my fiance's hair. Super good refresher video.
Love your videos, been watching you for year’s. I DGAF if you cut on manikins!! ❤️ Thanks for sharing your knowledge after all these years.
if someone has a flat feel at the back of their head, how should you hold the angle when cutting to give it a fuller and rounder shape?
Ok so if you see his hands, he’s angled like: \ Like not fully straight up and down 90 degrees. So if the back of their head is flat, go opposite and cheat ur angles UP a bit over 90 degrees like: / Hope that helps ☺️
Should I keep my sideburns growing long or do I cut the sideburns and let everything else grow
Outstanding, no one seems to understand when I say same length all around a little longer in front👍
Very nice tutorial, Very thorough and simple too. This is going to help me, thank you.
how do i get the back of my head hair to flick upwards?
You're videos have taught me so much !!! Thank you
I want this hair cut so bad. Youre so good.
Could this cut work with curly hair? Want to cut my hubby's hair. He has grown it since 2005! Needs a new do. He has fine hair with a tight ringlet small curls. I want his curly to pop!
This is so helpful and looks really good!! Thanks for the vid, my boyfriend will appreciate it
Thanks so much for this tutorial. I have a client that I will definitely be using this on.
How do I grow my hair into this shape? What would I say to my barber or hairdresser that would communicate this is the cut I want?
Captain Picard I’d like to know to, I thought I never had hair long enough for this but recently found a picture of me when I was around 3-4 and I had longer hair like this. Now I’m interested in growing it out and getting that hair style going
I have longish hair, and my method is to not cut it maybe for 4-6 months at a time, to then have it trimmed a little. Until I can pull a hair and it is like 6-8 inches long. Bring a picture to the barber, or tell him, I want a medium length cut, kinda shag or surfer, with layers, if you can. Just make sure they don’t use clippers. Clippers shall never be brandished near your mane.
Used this tutorial to cut my husbands hair. Turned out amazing! Thank you! 😃👌🏼
Thanks Matt!! Love hearing “why” your choosing your sections and what that’s going to do with the outcome. 💕
Good afternoon people, a question, what is the name or where do they show how to do the cut and hairstyle of Avan Jogia, the one he used in Victorius as Beck Oliver, this is very similar but it is a different style, right?
Another friend let me cut their hair. Went with this video this time. It took me a liiiitle longer than 11 min... probably closer to...40 min...(doh!) But it worked! *chefs kiss*
Same! (My very first time cutting hair other than my own) Rewatching now to do it again.
Some parts of the video are timelapsed, it took the video maker longer than 11min too!
Could you do a video on sectioning techniques you have outstanding sectioning techniques I was trying to Barber and I did not learn how to section so precisely but mostly how to do what you are actually doing with your finger on the comb and separating the hair thank you
so what do i say if i wanna tell a hairstylist to give me this cut? cuz often they just dont care, or assume what we want and give a cut thats less than satisfactory
You show them a picture..
Yeah I'm gonna have to see if my normal barber can do it and do it well. Got references and got a side and front shot of end product on here. Don't know if you had any luck with it be great to know if you did.
I want this cut but what would I ask my salon barber? Like how would I say it
Love this cut!
Wow I love this, both my kids are growing their hair and my eldest has such thick hair, I'm trained as a hair dresser but they only taught women's... so I was always just using what I knew and editing but this hahelped so much, thank you.
Does this work for even longer male hair?
Great video as always mate ! Always inspiring
So I'm a girl and I have naturally straight hair. I'm planning to cut my hair like this and will it work for me?
Yo, i have a super straight hair, did it worked for you?
Wow! amazing & easy to follow tutorial!! Thanks so much 🙌
THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
YOU HAVE A TALENT TEACHING OTHER PEOPLE BY A VERY PROFESSIONAL AND FRIENDLY WAY.
GOD BLESS YOU.

I want same hair please give me if your in Canada
What is the name of that hairstyle? And what I so ask my barber if I want that same hairstyle like in the video?
great work! thanks for sharig the exp. !
I have two questions, what do you tell the hairstylist to do exactly? And how would you do this if their hair is already kinda cutely wavy? Thank, love the vid!!
90 degree haircut
I ask the same question
Love the haircut, but can you please wear a white shirt when cutting dark hair?
This looks like Adam Driver’s hairstyle
LoSproProductions Sprock his hair looks best in episode 9.
wow it really does
It really does 👌
That's what I googled to find this video lmao
Tysm for this video I've always wanted this style but I didn't know what to say to the hairdresser. It turned out amazing
This is awesome thanks - I just wish you wore a white tee instead of a black so I can see details better.
i know this video was from a while ago so i hope you’re looking at the comments still but how would you best achieve this haircut when the person has an undercut all the way around (same length of hair as the mannequin)?
I really wish all barbers knew how to use Sheers. Everyone these days can do blurry skin fades or tapers but no one knows sheer work
I would love to get my hair cut like this but I don’t know how I would ask for it without showing them an 11 minute video.
Show them the end?
Loll true!!! Good idea to show them the end result!

90 degree haircut, ask for angling for the parietal

This was such a great video! Thank you so much!!
You did a good job
One of the most helpful hair styling/cutting videos I have ever seen, great job!
Where is your Salon ?
awesome video, thank you
so what should i tell when i go to barber to get such cut :D
Great tutorial video with easy to follow instructions. I would only recommend that in future videos the clothing you wear is in a contrasting color to the hair you’re cutting. Otherwise, enjoyable and informative overall.
Thank you 🙏
How should is explain this haircutting to my barber??
Can you do this same technique on a cut you want shoulder length? For a longer layer men’s cut ?
How do I know how much to leave on
Thanks!!
Where did you find the Michael Jackson mannequin?
Thanks for the laugh hee hee
My thoughts exactly! Looks like it could even be a style for women's hair; nothing about it looked overwhelmingly masculine to me.
That’s owesome ❤
Next time I need to show this video to my barber who made my long hair a mess!
You need a hairstylist at a hair salon who is great at cutting men's long hair. Be very specific in telling the hair stylist what you want done and hope for the best.
Where did the traveling guide go when you went from nape to occipital? Just comb down and initiate a new guideline?
So if I want this cut what should I tell my Barber/stylist
“Doesn’t have an occipital bone”? Who doesn’t have an occipital bone? Lol
Where can I find a hair stylist that can do this where I live? Is it not a barber? Is there someone you know and recommend in Brooklyn?!
Since it's quarantine. My brother's hair it too long and he looks like a Gorilla and we decided to do this hair cut on him. (It's my very first time cutting hair) Fingers crossed let's pray for his hair😂
Edit: I ain't lying IT FREAKING TURNED OUT SO GOOD. Such an easy tutorial. Thank you 🖤
this is exacly what i want
Man this hairstyle is awesome plus the products you put looks amazing I like the shine it gives, I'll check out the products
Beautiful
So if you want this hair cut what should you tell your salon?? That you want your hair layered???
