  • Winter 2022-2023 is coming and the gas price has increases significantly during the past few months. I thought some people might have issue paying their heating cost, hence they are going to suffer the cold of the winter. In this video I explain a very old Iranian method that you can use to stay warm during the cold months with very minimum electricity cost.
    This is called Korsi ( in Persian کرسی ), which is basically a wooden table of height ~0.5 meter and width and length of ~1 m. The table is covered with blanket and a heater (in modern days an electric heater, while in the past a pot filled with ash and fired charcoal). The reduced volume and less surface area of this space and high thermal resistance of the wall due to blankets, creates a small yet very warm space that only need a small amount of heat to stay very warm. You need to put your leg under it and stay warm during the day and night, also you can sleep under it and stay warm while other parts of your house is cold.
    if used properly, with only ~ 1-2 kwh you can stay warm for 24 h.
    It has some risks such as starting a fire, or burning your foot if you touch it to a hot heater, but in general is safe.
    Most Iranian people have used it in the past, but now a days due to widespread gas pipeline across the country, only is sometimes used in villages, or in case someone wants to renew the memories of the past.
    Finance: N=64
    subs=2293
    Available budget (N): 2293-100-64*(64+1)=-1967
    Storage limit: 2^ln(2293)=213,42

    I've built a little office in a small closet; I'm in there now - me and my computer keep it warm, and if it gets colder than that I have a small space heater to make up the difference. Maybe not as comfy as a korsi, haha, but it's maybe easier to get work done.

    Interesting! Also, a light bulb can be used instead of the heater. I mean one of the old light bulbs with low efficiency! Because these old light bulbs convert the majority of the energy into heat (about 90%), they actually operate as heat sources. To regulate the temperature, you can use a dimmer circuit. It is cheaper than using a heater. The light bulb should not be large; 100W is enough. I made the Korsi before in this way.

      Thanks Reza, indeed that is a good idea, if the light bulb is protected with something and is hanged from the ceiling of the table, it also provide more space for the legs.

      Good idea, but the fan would be missing and the bulb gets hot to the touch .

    Nothing screams safety like sleeping with a pot of burning charcoal under a table thats covered with a blanket😂

    • @HVE
      @HVE  Před rokem +2

      🤣 No the charcoal is covered with ash totally so the burning charcoal actually is in the center of that pot covered all around. if used properly, it can be managed, but indeed all ingredients scream against safety :)

    brother just buy an electric blanket... it does the same and it is much safer ..

      @HVE  Před rokem

      Thanks, I just show this because it is a clever idea of old time when nothing was available. On the other hand, Electric blanket are effective to some degree. But if you only use them in a cold house, at night you are likely to move around and push it aside while asleep, and that is when you will get cold.
