My tank is around 4 months old and has had an algae bloom since about day 3. I've waited, tested, tried all the tricks from your other videos, and the water is still so green that I can only see my fish if they are against the glass. My water tests perfect and the fish are thriving. I'd love to see them. I'm very close to taking them out, dumping everything, scrubbing it clean, and starting over.

I just set up a new 55 gallon tank for 3 goldfish . I came last night to find my tank so cloudy, I felt my fish were gasping for air so I transferred them back into their old tank , now I’m sitting here trying to figure out what went wrong ? The tank itself is not new , someone was throwing out their entire system, I’m guessing the filter broke because that was there with it and it didn’t work so , I bought everything new . New filter , new hoses . The water seems a little warm and that did worry me but I don’t know what to do to make it cold ? Then my new tank is by a window could make it warm ? There is no direct sunlight. Covered patio outside . Please advise, I’m watching all these videos. First time learning about this bloom . I do have plants in the tank as well . I transferred them from my other tank . The plants are not as new as the tank . I started with live plants about two months-ago . How long should I wait before I put the fish back in ?

A log (boiled and then sat in a pot for 2 days getting saturated and discoloration out). Last night and this morning the tank was crystal clear, tonight it’s cloudy. Do I just do nothing? Do I take some water out and do a partial water change? I read for the first week or so I should take out water and replace and then slowly minimize how often I do that.

I had it happen to me last year when I moved from my 30 to the 53. But the fish were also gasping at the surface so I dragged out my old air pump and got it going thinking that was the culprit even though two canister filters were running and agitating the surface.

I'm having algae blooms in a existing tank. I'm not sure what happened. My tank was crystal clear for months. It's been up for about 6 months. About a month ago I started noticing the water starting to tint and every day it's just darker and worse. I've done almost everything. I've reduced feeding to a pinch every other day, dosing stability, I'm using algaefix, ive added live plants, I even covered my tank with towels for a week so it got no light and did water changes every 3 days. That made the water look a little better until I went back to weekly water changes but after 7 days i can barely see my fish. I'm getting a UV green killing machine tomorrow. Hopefully that works.

So, I just started this “hobby” recently (about 8-10 weeks ago) completely by accident (bought a tank and fish for my 5yo thinking “no biggie, fish are easy” lol ) and I’ve learned A LOT over this short amount of time, but still have A TON to learn.
So, long story short, I’ve managed to kill-off ALL of my guppies (probably close to 7, possibly more), except for one, due to fin/tail rot. I seem to have found what has worked and managed to keep this one alive, and his tail is slowly growing back.
But my question is, how long do I keep him separated from the clean tank after the round of meds that seem to be working? I started out with API Fin & Body Cure, and that didn’t work for ANY of my guppies. So, with this little guy, I moved on to Melafix and by the next day more of his tail had fallen off. So, I found Seachem PolyGuard and I’m pretty sure that’s what has been working. He’s on the 2nd 3-day cycle of the “Up to 2 weeks or until symptoms disappear.”
ANY help is greatly appreciated 😊

So, I apologize for my life story in advance (long response) and I appreciate ANY help/advice that you or anyone else might have!!
Yes to quarantine tank. It’s a 10 gallon (my clean tank is a 20g). Parameters are stable and were for the previous 2 or 3 guppies. In my 20g I have 3 glofish, 3 neon terra, 2 loaches and a platinum guppy (?? he’s all white and he doesn’t have a fancy tail).
When I bought the tank and first batch of fish NO ONE told me that I needed chemicals so all but the loach died. After my second batch slowly started dying off (still not knowing about chemicals) I did tons of research. I finally got all of the chemicals/test strips/etc and slowly started introducing the new fish. The guppies died again and I was introduced to the heater. That seemed to help a lot, along with the proper chemicals so I introduced the white guppy & 2 fancy tails. Our fancy guppies started getting the tail rot so I quarantined all of the fish including the loach and used the API Fin & Body Cure. The guppies weren’t showing signs of improving, but the other fish weren’t showing signs of anything at all so I moved the healthy fish back to the clean tank and haven’t had any issues with them or the tank since. I did dump the rocks and got new ones and sanitized every inch of the tank, filter, supplies, decorations, etc before placing the fish back into the clean tank.
Eventually I noticed that one of the loaches had 2 white spots on his head and wasn’t really looking like the brand new healthy one I had recently purchased, and from what I researched it sounded and looked like “hole in the head” and assumed that my guppies had been getting sick from him, but the people I spoke to said that loaches don’t really get that disease and that it was likely he’d just bumped his head on something and that guppies are usually a hit and miss and it depends on where you get them from, they also explained that the fancy tails became that way because of inbreeding and that genetics could be playing a role in why they’ve all died.
I do know that since the API Fin and Body Cure wasn’t working on the guppy (it worked on the loach after about 2 full rounds) if I was going to save him I had to try something else, and Melafix kept popping up (& Blue Planet Tri-Sulfa but that’s only in Australia lol), so I grabbed the Melafix. It made our guppy perk up and become more active, but the next morning, even though he was still active, I literally watched as another small part of his tail fell off. So I freaked out and ran to a local fish store (& not the chain store where I got all my fish from) and the guy gave me the Seachem PolyGuard.
He’s been on Seachem for a total of 5 days now and His tail is slowly starting to come back, but…now I can’t tell if it was the Melafix or the Seachem that helped him or if it was both. And if it is the Seachem, do I need to keep medicating (and breaking for a week after each full round) until his tail grows all the way back, will it grow back on its own without the meds after a full round, when do I place him in the clean tank? Do I clean/sanitizer his tank after a round of meds, keep him quarantined and introduce a new friend so he’s not so lonely and so the new friend gets a dose of meds before going into the clean tank?
I have so many questions that I can’t seem to find answers for on the Internet, but I’ve found A LOT of helpful info from @KaveMan_aquatics so I thought I’d ask and see if I can get answers to some, if not all, of my questions lol

      Sorry for the delayed response
If you are able to see some transparent like or transcluscent tissue growth on the ends then it probably will grow back,if not, then please continue medicine finding out which one did the job(melafix or polyguard) in not easy but necessary to find out as giving too much medicine is harmful too. Which food do you give? Do you give live food/freeze dried food?
If not,try feeding them occasionally that might boost the fin growth I have a betta that got fin rot and after doing these precautions I was able to heal him and betta fix that I was using initially had some harmful essential oils in it no idea about melafix will recommend joining a fish forum or fish related subreddit as that helps a lot. Many nice people over there helped me heal my betta
      Happy fishkeeping!
