    Thanks for the advice. I set up a 29gal tank about 2 months ago. and the water is so cloudy i do the weekly/10 day water changes and even after that it is still cloudy. I believe that the stock water filter is just not doing the job. I think I will invest in the sponge filter. I may even have a bloom happening as well. I will start with the sponge filter first and see if that helps. If not, I know I have a bloom on my hands.

I still didn't put my fishes back in it because I'm afraid that they will get irritated with the water so I just let them in a temporary basin until tomorrow. I just bought new substrate and perhaps didn't clean it properly (along side a 50% water change which I realise now I probably shouldn't have done) - the water has gone from a milky cloudy colour to green in about 12 hours (not really sure why but this is all new to me). The fish were gasping for air at the top of the tank and one just died. Any idea what's going on? I checked the nitrate, nitrite and ammonia levels and everything is fine. The water is still green and the fish are still lingering around the top but not gasping as much. Should i just wait it out a few days and hope it clears up? :(

    I never had cloudy water ever! 40 something years, well until now. It finally clicked what caused it and it was plant ferts. Was trying to figure why it happened on a tank that has been cycled for 6 months. So guys it can be plant ferts. I've stopped using it and now cut back on feeding and doing some small water changes and keeping my fingers crossed it should right itself over time.

    I have an axolotl and a few months ago (her tank is 4 or 5 months old) I thought it would be a good idea to get some ghost shrimp from Pet Smart to act as a clean up crew/ snack for my axolotl. She has since eaten them all but the Pet Smart water caused an algae issue in my tank that just wouldn’t go away for ever it felt like. It was almost white and feathery attaching to everything, glass, plants, filter media, and was brown out of water. (I know it was from Pet Smart because I later saw it on plants they were selling with their beta fish) anyway, that problem seems to have gone down, but right when the algae seemed to go away, my water turned white. I tried using aqua clear and it worked the first time (I think I added too much though) but the cloudy white water came back, and I’m worried to add too many chemicals to my salamanders water. Last time I added it she flicked her back legs at her gills and thrashed around, visibly bothered by me adding the aqua clear and water conditioner. Her water parchments all seem fine, no ammonia or nitrite at all. Last time I cleaned the tank the water got even cloudier the next day, idk what to do I’ve never had an issue with my water before.

    so I have a betta. It’s the second/third day having this brand new tank running and I got him yesterday. The first day after putting stress coat and QuickStart nitrifying bacteria starter (I let it filter for 24hrs) it was kinda cloudy. Do I need to do a water change or anything? My little guy likes to hang out at the top near the filter. I tested the ph and ammonia and everything looks good. Help!! Should I let it run it’s course until it clears up?

    I scooped up a few baby fish from a lake, and I put them in my 10 gallon fish tank. So far they are doing well, I've been putting tetra color tropical flakes because that's all I have. I don't know if they are eating it. Also the tank is cloudy and I'm to scared to put a filter in. Any advice?

      Why wouldn't you put a filter? You need something to keep the ammonia down.

    Lol, literally 3 days ago I've started my new, first 60L tank, cloudy water came after 24hours but it was definitely because of white sand I've put (I didn't washed it), now water has clarified.
    I got some questions though, is it okay to make water changes when I just started the aquarium? Wouldn't that kill tank cycle and beneficial bacterias that are building up there?
    Also, what about bubbles from filter? Is it a must for better oxygenation when it comes to having later on 10x neon tetras, 10x red cherry shrimp and 2x blue ram plus also how should I put a water flow, to the highest or not really?

      Did you add any conditioner into the water? Sometimes when im impatient I add water too fast and it stirs up the gravel.

      Chemicals are not the answer. Like the video says...water changes are the best thing. What would happen if you were breathing in chemicals all the time??

    Do get where it looks like it's oily on top with the cloudiness ? Should I just do like a 50% water change everyday tell it goes away?? I did 50% water change once I noticed it was cloudy and it seems like it didn't make a difference.

      Up the filtration it sounds like you have stagnant water on top point your inlet up to create a ripple on top of the water, that will oxygenate the tank too, other issues could be as he said over feeding or feeding bad quality food. I sounds like a bacterial bloom.

    Bro do you take the fish out when you do your water changes ? I just started a new tank and I'm having the cloud issue right now

    • @KaveManAquatics
      @KaveManAquatics Před 4 lety +3

      Nope, you don't need to take the fish out. He mentions the substrate in the video, if you didn't rinse it before adding to tank it will definitely cloud up your water. Good luck man!

    I have a cloudy water before I added my Betta fish to a 5.5 gallon tank. Added the betta fish after replacing about 10% water or so. It’s still cloudy. I read it’s not good to mess with it no water changes. You recommend water changes frequently and it should get clear. Why the difference in opinions?

    What do you add to tap water to neutralise it? I’m cool with water changes but wonder why you didn’t mention treating water going back in. My tank is very cloudy and my last 2 fish are prob going to die
