To me, he seems more like he is protecting his team. And notice that most of the times he is being provocked, and he is not trying to punch, but rather to put them on the ground and restrain them. Honestly, anyone would be glad to have him on their side.
Because if he swung a punch, he’d be off the pitch, professional players rarely ever swing now. If he could knock them all over, he wouldn’t hesitate.

That's becuz when he grabs shirt only he won't hurt his opponent. If he throws a punch, that might hurt the opponent which will result him being disqualified.

This guy is not a thug, hes just a stronger man in a game of strong men. Lood de Jager is a big guy, and Eben tossed him to the ground like a rag doll. You dont want to get into a punch up with him. Quality player though, has a neate handoff, surprising pace, cleans and tackles well - all the things youd expect from a world class lock.

He's a very much reformed player nowadays. He didn't even pick a fight when one of his teammates were clearly fouled.(vermuluean lifted and dropped on his neck by Italian props)

I've simply pointed out that he is far from innocent and that many of his actions aren't welcome on a rugby field - case in point the attempted head butt on the Australian player, or swinging the players body around and into the ground when tackling. It's irrelevant whether it was a few years back or they are isolated events. The point is he did them. If there's a divil (not devil) in someone it tends not to leave over night ;)

Anyways mate look at any RSA match within the last 3 years and you would see that he has reformed. Those clips were from his hot headed days, but now he is a test veteran and regular so he's more level headed.
