No... no... it's not... it really is not. Savea would go to the hospital with his knees broken and his shitty haircut shoved up his ass. Savea is a backliner.... Etzebeth has like 5 inches reach, 10kgs and about 30% power on savea. When it comes to gym time and training, Etzebeth can bench over 175kg and he’s also had special dumbbells made for him that weigh 75kg as the standard one’s just aren’t heavy enough for him. Julian is not in the same universe.
You talking about Julian Savea, the wing with the best strike rate the worlds ever seen...and Etzebeth is not the worlds best lock...Please Brodie, Whitelock, Itoje
I agree, South Africa is locks heaven. So many quality players at that specific position and for as long as I can remember. In France we had ups and downs with locks. Because of the popularity and wealth of Top 14, most clubs have foreigners at that position as well as tight head prop. Many South African players, in every team. Occasionally, it blocks younger French players to get play time, but genetically, we do not have the reservoir of players either anyway. We had some good players in the past (in the 70's Palmie, Esteve and Imbernon, in the 90's Merle, Benazzi, Pelous, Brouzet, more recently Vahamahina). But lately it was quicker to naturalize SA players, who now have the lead (LeRoux and Willemse).
@@TheGargantua1 The current French side looks like up & coming World Cup contenders. I predict they will win RWC 2023 if they can keep calm under pressure & their feet on the ground.
He is 6.8 feet, strong as an ox and fast there is no stopping that once it gets momentum going... To be tackled by this guy must feel like being hit by a small car.
Apparently he was in track and field in school because he was tall and slim - the muscles came towards the last years of high school and he started playing rugby.
@@RickSanchez-dn6rd Interesting. Happy to see South Africa win (good for rugby) but I feel like the draw played out in the Bok's favour, and that we (the All Blacks) know how to beat them when it matters. (Was so looking forward to this years Rugby Championship to get a gauge on who has the upper hand). The way England controlled us in the semi, I actually thought they were the best team in the comp, but similar to the AB's, got ahead of themselves. Close call between the top three.
@@RickSanchez-dn6rd Yeah, when England put it all together like they did in the semi, I'm not sure anyone could beat them. Problem was, that really was their final wasn't it? England, South Africa and New Zealand showed you couldn't beat both the others - Things were looking really competitive, shame how things turning out now, but its just sport as they say.
@@simorf Yes, I agree, it was a dominant win, but one dominant game doesn't make for a dominant team (just ask England!). S.A. just squeaked past Wales in the semi and lost earlier to the AB's. Like I said, shame we didn't get to play last years 'Rugby Championship'.
Yeah I am a kiwi and totally tautoko / support Etzebeth as a good rugby player and one who staunchly stands his ground and looks after his team mates. Good tough man to have on your side. Go the Springboks and All Blacks at the Rugby World Cup Competition 2019. Kia ora ra.
He seems like he's generally much stronger than almost all the other players he faces and you can tell in some of there faces that his opponents are surprised by it
There is a lock gene particularly strong in South Africa. It looks like the boerin are predominantly giving birth to locks. In the French championship, there are about a dozen of South African locks, that were absolute nobody's in South Africa, yet are amazing players there: Jacques Du Plessis in Montpellier, Jandre Marais in Bordeaux, Berend Botha, Juandre Kruger, Paul Willemse (albeit he is French now :-))... We are very envious, since our locks suck at the moment. We should freeze the sperm of Etzebeth to impregnate our French farmer girls to make sure we show a better face in the rucks in 20 years from now.
There is a 16 year old 2.9m lad took a photo with Etzebeth dwarfing him not only in length but size also. Stock for the future and got some growing to do still. SA so full of locks Pieter have to play flank
Now we solved our temporary issue by making Bernard Le Roux and Paul Willemse French. Romain Taofifenua is also stepping up (a pity that Sebastien Vahamahina has no ambition, because he was pretty good towards the end). Tight head prop is the other penury position (Haouas is very good, but the bench is pretty limited: Atonio and Aldegheri suck in the scrum). For a French who played in the 80's / 90's - the golden age of French rugby violence and badass props - it feels like younger generation French forwards need to grow pubes and moustache.
Amazes me how Victor Matfield retires in 2015 and literally they have another World Class lock to bring in immediately. Plus not to mention now the cover for lock in SA is: RG Snyman (Beast), Mostert(Beast) and De Jager (Beast). How, just how do you do it SA.

Bakkies Botha is the prototype upon which all number 4’s will be judged, and Eben is like a more athletic, and slightly less grubby version. SA rugby is definitely lucky to have him come in fill the big mans boots, and doing a fantastic job at it. Shame he’s a Stormer though
