- We're joined by Philip's friend Maaike and her mother Ellen, who is a couturière, to open more wonderful Christmas gifts - in January!
In 'Cadeaux at the Chateau', all of the inhabitants of the Chateau de Lalande gather together to open beautiful gifts that people have sent from all over the world. All of the monetisation from these videos will be donated to a different charity each month. CZcams earnings fluctuate wildly each month, as ad revenue changes throughout the year. Here are the charities that we've donated to so far:
July 2020:
British Heart Foundation UK (in memory of my father) €634

Alzheimer's Research UK (in memory of all of the residents of my parents' nursing homes) €350

I used to show the gifts as part of ' @The Chateau Diaries ' episodes, but you're all so very generous that we have many gifts, and if we spent the episodes opening them, we wouldn't be able to show you other aspects of chateau life! So, for those of you who enjoy watching presents being opened, and as a way to thank those of you who were kind enough to send them, I've made this new channel. Every week we will film your beautiful gifts whilst enjoying afternoon tea or aperitif together.
It is very important to me that you know that we in no way expect anyone to send us gifts. I would like to go further than that and add that, if doing so will put you in any financial difficulty whatsoever, please, please do not send us anything. Knowing that you join us by watching 'The Chateau Diaries' gives us all an enormous boost. But for those of you who have sent these incredibly thoughtful gifts, I hope that seeing us open them gives you a fraction of the joy that you've given us 💖💖💖

23K Euros for charity! This is just incredible! Thank you to those who shared their poignant stories. I hope that in their sharing and gift giving that the burden is lessened a little bit for you all, especially as these thoughtful and beautiful gifts then get magnified around the whole world! That is magical to me! I am so happy to be a tiny little part of it. (The lemons / lemonade quote was very personal to me. That was my late partner's mantra.)

It is no accident that Greg and Elizabeth and Anouk sent you those very touching notes. The community of Lalande is truly global, uplifting and special. It does you all honor.

This gift opening was a little different and more thought provoking than others. So many touching and open letters that just go to show us all that we all have our struggles and our losses but somehow we find the will to carry on and keep hoping for a new joy and peace. I wish that for everyone.
So super proud of the money raised for charity. ** "I would like to offer a suggestion plz." Set up a yearly Christmas charity funding Mummy & Percy's yearly buckets of essentials. Maybe to offset two or three people to help, shop & distribute. Watching them the last two years with their own generosity has been so incredibly heartwarming. I would love to see a percentage $$ to be set aside each month, if possible to go toward "Christmasbuckets". Much love to all!

I cannot say how thrilled I am that your November donation went to building homes in Cordoba, Argentina! I lived/ volunteered there for 4 weeks during my gap year at a foster home for girls and absolutely fell in love with the people and the city. They are so incredibly deserving of the donation!

I don't think I realized until now - Chateau Diaries and this channel is therapy. It's a way to feel connected in a very unconnected world. Thank you to those that bare their hearts and lives, to remind us all just how precious life is and how we are never alone. So much love.

When looking for another charity ..please consider Bethesda the only Hospice in the Outer Hebrides of mainland Scotland 🏴 ..it has to self fund and needs £40O,000 a year to survive ..it needs all the help it can get !

I am not sure if you realize Stephanie and all the LaLanders how you have affected so many lives in such a positive way. How at the end of the day one can come here to our community of château LaLande and find comfort and peace. Having recently been through my own tragedies I have a heartfelt feeling of compassion for the people whom sent you letters . Kindness is always found here🙏🏻🌺

I know some people have been cynical, to me they have never understood the meaning behind true charity, whether it be big or small. Stephanie you have allowed the joy of giving that the gift givers appreciate, you exemplify the joy of receiving with your gracious gratitude and you have passed this along to those in need and who will in turn, have the same feelings which are at the core of this endeavor. Stephanie, I had a bad fall last night (66)me with osteoporosis plus . Anyway my good news is I am now a Great Grandmother, yes I love this and always thought not me no way but She is so beautiful, so tiny you forget how small babies are.

So glad so much money was raised for your charities.
I think when we have a rough patch and lose beloved people we come through fractured with bits of ourselves mourning or in pain, but because we made it through.. (was there a choice?) people see us as stronger. I think we have all the strength we ever had but our poor hearts and souls are tender and bruised and hurting. But we wake up every morning and do what ever our life needs.

Just a suggestion. I used to have a beautiful kimono that I hung on the wall with a rod through the shoulders as an art piece. Even though you aren’t Asian themed it would work well in a small bedroom or even in your small hall blue room.
Make a binder with a the pop-ups. A coffee table book for all to enjoy!
