- Queen Rock Montreal is a live album by English band Queen. It was released in 2007 as a double CD / triple vinyl on 28 October in Australia, 29 October in Europe, and 30 October in the US.
It was recorded in Montreal, Quebec, Canada at the Montreal Forum on 24 November and 25 November 1981, ten years to the date before lead singer Freddie Mercury died of complications related to AIDS - Hudba

you have to keep in mind, that these videos are remastered to HD. Original quality was significantly worse...! I know it because I have this on VHS
frotttiop m that means nothing, that’s issues with VHS tapes and VCRs themselves. This was actually shot in a very high quality with film originally but obviously you won’t get that original quality on VHS due to issues with the mastering process used to make the tapes and with the format itself
frotttiop m Well in order to have quality this good the original film needs to be good. The original footage is actually better than most digital cameras because of the 35mm film

What always amazed me about Queen is its only four guys on stage, no overdubs, no click tracks, and usually only three of them playing instruments as Freddie sings. Still, they sound like an army out there. This song, and the performance, are sheer perfection for the ages.

A great show every time.Whenever you saw Queen,you knew you were getting perfection.I saw them twice in Detroit back in the late 70's and remember some of my high school buddies refused to go because they thought they were too gay.What a mistake.

The quality of both the audio and video are really excellent in this considering it was 1981. Very impressive
+Trent Hogan almost seems fake, like for a biopic. Maybe some cinema quality cameras were used for this one. Some old movies are amazing in bluray as soon as the good technicians get their hands on original higher end support of the time ( cf kubrick and others)
+Michael magnan Well, it was filmed using cinema cameras, yes. And you can see the people that did the filming and the original editing weren't expert in music shows, they concentrate too much on Freddie and miss a lot of the solos from other member of the band. I think it was intended to go out in theaters back in the day.
It has been digitally restored too, but it was in incredible quality in the first place.
+LinkyHYC agree the filming is frustrating for someone who is used to attend music show. I never focus on the singer when he is just sitting at the piano and there are so great musicians in the band to watch.
I believe it was shot in 35mm so It meant it could but cleaned and up scaled to HD if I remember correctly.... Such a shame everything back then wasn't.... My bad in the film size originally... Over tired

These shows were amazing some of the best concerts ever to be seen by a paying audience. Everything was put together, planned and rehearsed to perfection. There’s a lot of nuances that go unitised and unappreciated during the show that just enhance the experience for the audiences and leave those who do notice absolutely spellbound. One of these things is how the band are totally in sync with other but also in sync with the lighting and special effects team. They can all read each other and know exactly what to do and when. At the end of the song roger goes into a frantic solo, something he always does for tie your mother down, but as he does the lights dim down. Then the stage is lights again as he hits the cymbals. It all happens seamlessly but behind the scenes everyone has to watch carefully and sense when to perform these actions. It goes to show how the band and their crew was and how well they could read each other.

sorry to dissapoint, it isn't! I kept waiting for it as the movie progressed, but never to be heard. Still the movie is a very touching masterpeice! I've also seen the Queen Extravaganza with Marc Martel and frankly, both were brilliant hommages to Queen and Freddy Mercury himself.

Ah yes the night before !! This was recorded on Friday night which was the day before the recording for the DVD Concert on Saturday. It was a practice run through for the cameras and was raining all evening on and off. You can see the song recorded on the Extras part of the DVD.

Tampan dan Berani absolutely. And I love that song. If you look at the live videos of this song, the crowd jumps and headbangs in unison. Not to mention a very groovy and memorable guitar 🎸 riff. I love all of Queen’s heavy rocking songs like Stone Cold Crazy, Hammer to Fall, and I Want It All, but Tie Your Mother Down is the heaviest.
