    I'm in my eleventh year of high school and am now pursuing fashion design. I'm thinking about applying to Istituto Marangoni, but as someone who does not particularly enjoy studying business, I was wondering if you could relate or if you ever had a greater appreciation for it through the course of studying fashion business. And yet another crucial query I have is: Did they demand that you be able to draw?

      Fashion business is fantastic because all of the examples you're looking into are fashion businesses and you get to understand the consumer behaviour that drives purchases and interest in your niche. However, it is first and foremost a business course.
      I will say, when I went into my foundation year I didn't know I'd be open to fashion business and I am SO glad I went down that path because it is 1,000% me. I suggest looking into potential career paths from each degree if you're uncertain.
      In terms of fashion design, you can learn how to draw properly within the degree and you can also use several methods - e.g: some people prefer 'sketching' digitally instead. I'm sure within your modules you will get guidance on proper fashion figure drawing.
      Plus, it is a private faculty, so you have the added benefit of being able to access more 1:1 support for the areas you struggle in.
      Wishing you all the best. Everything will work out :) Let me know what you end up settling on!

    Hi Lara! In few days I will began a year on Fashion Foundation at Istituto Marangoni. As an international student, I am nervous

      Apologies for my very delayed response, but for anyone else seeing this later: it's normal to be nervous but you don't have to me! Most of your colleagues will be international students, and even if they aren't everyone is going into a new experience. You're all in the same boat, so just be open-minded and find your people :)

    Hii this is two years later but i was looking into the foundation year programme and i'm confused because you said you took it on the london campus but the website says it's only in the paris, firenze campuses etc :0?

      Unfortunately, it looks like they no longer provide this in London. I'd research other faculties and short courses. For instance: UAL, Conde Nast, London Metropolitan University.

    Hi! I'm currently studying fashion business at Istituto Marangoni. Tbvh I'm not too happy with the way the course is proceeding. Since week 3 all we ever do is work on the end term report. I am planning on completing the course at the London campus. Is the teaching pattern at the London campus similar? Could you also mention the subjects you had in the 2nd and 3rd year? Would love to get some clarity. Thank you xx

    • @larakristina
      @larakristina  Před rokem

      Hey, how far into your course are you?
      We largely worked on the term reports primarily as well, but the objective was learning one key aspect in each class that was important knowledge for your overall career and that would also help you work on the term report. We weren't working on the reports _in class_, but each class gave us the tools needed to complete them if that makes sense. We did have a lot of transfers from other cities come to our London campus and they mentioned they enjoyed the course more in LDN, but the experience will always be subjective.

      @@larakristina hii Kristina! Thank you so much for the reply 🫶 I'm currently in the 9th week of the first semester of my first year. Would you be willing to share the subjects you had in the second and third year at the London campus?

    Hi! I'm currently studying at Istituto Marangoni. I've chosen fashion business too. If I'm being very honest, I'm not too happy with the way the curriculum is proceeding. The teaching is very minimal and since week 3 , we have only been working on the report we'll be assessed on at end of the term. I was planning on completing the course at the London campus. Is the way of teaching similar at the London campus? I'd love to get some clarity. Thank you!

    • @larakristina
      @larakristina  Před 2 měsíci

      What campus were you in? For Fashion Business, we had an incredible programme leader and the teaching was extensive. Of course, it picks up the further you get into the course.
      I know that the London, Paris, and Milan campuses were often assessed against each other and it seems like the London campus often 'beat' the others in terms of high scores for the business pathway, so something to keep in mind.

    Hi! I’m not sure if you would know the answer but I just wanted to know if you are accepted but end up declining the offer. Do you get refunded for the enrollment fee?

      @ricong1385 Před 2 lety

      Yes, you do get refunded but you have to inform them early there’s terms and conditions, you can go check them, hope this helps😊

      Hi Mia, I do not believe the enrollment fee is refunded. If it is, the regulations would be quite strict so per Rico's advice I recommend reading the T&C's carefully!

      Chapter Spitalfields, IQ Aldgate, and then there's another accommodation on Commercial Road. You can also look into Liberty Plaza. All of these are less than a 10 minute walk to the uni. Best wishes!

    I have few questions, I am looking forward to applying for masters and I will be really grateful if you could answer some of these questions.
    are the integrated placements for masters paid? what about internships and job placements after masters? on average how many students with masters get there placements?

    • @larakristina
      @larakristina  Před 2 lety +2

      Hey Ivory! I didn't pursue a Master's at Marangoni, but placements through a university are typically unpaid. However, if you find your own paid internship you will likely be encouraged to pursue it and it will count towards your credits. I suggest Find Your Intern as a good resource for finding paid internships :)

    Cab you pls tell me which course is better to do I like to sketch and create I not like to do sweing and I like to build luxury fashion brand which course you think is best for me thx

    • @larakristina
      @larakristina  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Elena! So, career-wise designers don't actually have to sew, but in Fashion Design school it IS a skill that you definitely have to learn. Because for the assessments you have to submit garments. I loved sketching and creative concepting too, but unfortunately not enough to create entire collections let alone sew them myself. So that's why I went for Fashion Business.
      I can only share my own experience, but I hope that helps!

    Hi, hope I’ll get your reply.🙏🏼 Is Marangoni a university? I’ll get valid bachelor degree? Is it good choice for future career and knowledge?
    I applied for foundation in interior design in Dubai campus that opened last year. But still having many questions and concerns 🙈

    • @larakristina
      @larakristina  Před 2 měsíci

      It is a university with a valid bachelor's degree. In London, it was specifically a Bachelor's of Arts with Honours.
      Of course, this will be different if you opt for a short course or foundation year - a foundation year gets you a certain 'level' certificate/qualification (in the UK, it's a level 4).

    • @larakristina
      @larakristina  Před 2 měsíci

      Yes, the degree is good for future career and knowledge - lots of opportunities to meet industry recruiters and prep for the job market. But the caveat is that experience will always be crucial in the job market. So take it seriously, seize opportunities like the Women @ Dior mentorship program, try to intern during summer break, and explore the option of freelancing.
