Great to see these older engines being serviced and kept in service rather than being scrapped. Hope the wheel fats can be repaired and those boogies used on another engine repair.

With the springs hidden you forget that the 56s have Flexicoil suspension

Fabulous to see the work done which i dont think is easy at all. Great that you can do this at all, and well done to the chaps up there that got the 56 back up and going again.

Top drawer ! Can I ask - when doing this kind of job , i'm curious as to what needs to be disconnected from between the bogies and the loco. Is there some kind of electrical multi plug connection from the genny to the traction motors / brakes etc? thanks for this ,a great watch

Need to remove bogie to loco center casting attachment, air braking supply, hand brake, traction motor cables etc.

Do the 56 bogies have a central bolster with swing links, like the 47s or does the 56s secondary suspension provide the transverse movement?. Those coils look a similar design to the set up on a 86 or 87.
