    LOVEBITES - Swan Song lyrics:
If this was the last day you could live on this earth
Would you still go on, accusing someone for today
It’s better to fail than not do anything at all
It is not the length, but depth of life that counts
    Oh brave soldier
    Oh gallant warrior
Valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla
    Believe what’s in your soul
For death will come to all
You shall rest peacefully in God’s Heaven
    Floating lotus
    You are so graceful
    Saintly and glorious
    Till the end of time
    Floating lotus
    You are so beautiful
    Sing me your sweet song
    The legend of the swan
If you’ve never hoped, you’ve never been though despair
Ignorance is bliss, it’s easier to not care
You might think it’s meaningless to sacrifice a life
Sometimes the life of one can save so many more
    Oh brave soldier
    Oh gallant warrior
Valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla
    Believe what’s in your soul
For death will come to all
You shall rest peacefully in God’s Heaven
    Floating lotus
    You are so graceful
    Saintly and glorious
    Till the end of time
    Floating lotus
    You are so beautiful
    Sing me your sweet song
    The legend of the swan
    SOLO: miyako / both
    Floating lotus
    You are so graceful
    Saintly and glorious
    Till the end of time
    Floating lotus
    You are so beautiful
    Sing me your sweet song
    The legend of the swan

The Chopin piece Miyako (guitar/keyboards) is playing in the intro is "Etude OP10, No. 12" known as the "Revolutionary Etude."
In 1831, some officers and citizens rose up against the Polish government, which was under the de facto control of the Russian Empire, in what was called the "November Revolution" but ended in failure due to the direct intervention of Russian troops. Chopin received this news during a performance tour. He never set foot on the soil of his homeland again. When the Russians invaded Warsaw, Chopin's agent presented "Etude OP10, No. 12" in Paris. Because of the agent's exaggerated publicity, people called this piece "Revolutionary Etude.
Miyako composed "Swan Song" based on this "Revolutionary Etude" and Dvorak's "New World Symphony.
Asami (vocalist), a former ballerina, wrote the lyrics based on the historical background of "Revolutionary Etude" and inspired by Norse mythology and the ballet suite "Swan Lake.
"SwanSong" is a requiem dedicated to the warriors who fought to reclaim their homeland, a masterpiece that only LOVEBITES could complete.

Lovebites is a phenomenal band, a real musical sensation from the very beginning of their existence. I think Lovebites can go down in the history of world rock and metal music as one of the most musical and technical of all the time these genres have existed in the past and present. Nowadays it is difficult to find a metal band that creates a musical product (studio and concert releases) of the same level and quality. The only band that comes to mind is Dream Theater.
Lovebites are real musicians and a real band. They can be viewed "under a magnifying glass", no deception. And there are all the possibilities for this - a rich selection of studio and concert releases. All of their studio releases through 2021 (3LP and 4EP) are already very good, at the highest global level. But the new, recently released, fourth album is something else. I don't think there's a band that can do something like that right now. In addition to studio recordings, Lovebites has six full-fledged live blu-ray (Battle in the East 2018, Daughters of the Dawn 2019, Five of a Kind 2020, Awake Again 2020, Heavy Metal Never Dies 2021, Knockin' at Heaven's Gate Part I 2023 and DVD performances at Wacken Open Air. In addition, a blu-ray was released with all ten music videos at that time (2021). The seventh blu-ray Knockin' at Heaven's Gate Part II is due to be released soon. All Lovebites studio and concert releases have excellent sound and video quality, can be viewed in detail on a large 4K screen and listened to on very good equipment, they only benefit from this.

@@ThatOddLife I can confidently say that the more you learn about Lovebites, the more you become convinced that there was nothing better in the past and there is nothing better in the present. There will be no disappointment. One problem is that bands have you listened before will no longer be in demand. Lovebites will replace them and become the most significant part of musical life. They have already done so much in a relatively short period of their existence that you can listen and watch only Lovebites and nothing else. And that will be enough.) Their music has another amazing quality. You can listen to it endlessly, over and over again.

Regarding Asami's vocals, it can be difficult to understand her, especially at the start. She is a native Japanese speaker singing in English, and although she is fluent, her enunciation is far from perfect. There are sounds in the English that don't even appear in the Japanese language - for example "TH" and "L". For LOVEBITES fans, we view Asami's imperfect enuciation as a feature, not a bug. I will point out that Asami has improved her enunciation in her more recent performances.
But my advice is to turn on closed captions whenever it is available.
Here is a recommention for their next song to react to. It is a new video that features their new bassist playing her first ever live performance with LOVEBITES. As you will see, she is quite pleased to be on stage. Here is it: "Hammer of Wrath (live)" czcams.com/video/pHrWRT0Jeac/video.html

The band is named after the song Love Bites (So DO I) by Halestorm. Lead singer Asami joined Lzzy and the boys at 2019 Download to perform that song.
Miyako is the pianist/ guitarist, Midori on guitar, Haruna is a beast on drums, and original bassist Miho is seen here. Miho left in 2021, replaced by Fami Oct 2022. All are between 4'9" and 5'2". Heavy metal princesses. Formed in 2016, they have 4 full albums and 60+ songs to choose from.
Yes, there is a bit of Motley Crue. Depending on the song , other influences include Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, Slayer, and Helloween.

Welcome to the mind-blowing world of Lovebites. These women are extremely talented, skillful and versatile exceptional musicians. Thanks for reacting to them and spreading the word because they deserve more recognition. Their main influences are Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slayer, Judas Priest, Dragonforce, Angra, Helloween, Yngwie Malmsteen, Megadeth, and even Gary Moore, but they have been developing their unique style. Asami used to sing R&B, soul and jazz before she joined Lovebites. Those twin lead guitar solos by Midori and Miyako are already legendary, in just six years. Glad you checked out Lovebites. My genre really is more rock, and I've heard metal songs growing up starting in the 70s, and I've liked song here and there, but Lovebites is really the first metal band I've really latched onto. As for the key change from the guitar solo to the last chorus, I believe the key change is in going into the guitar solos, then jumping back to the previous key coming to the last chorus. Anyway, hope you will put Lovebites on your "continue to go down that rabbit hole" list and enjoy them.

Congratulations, you just found the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they waited out the pandemic and searched for a new bassist. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song on December 22. Their new album, “Judgement Day”, was released two months later.
They did their first live performances in more than two years in summer of 2023, with their new bassist Fami. Their very first show was commemorated on the DVD “Knocking on Heaven’s Gate”. They have posted four performances from that DVD-“”Hammer of Wrath”, “Judgement Day”, “Nameless Warrior” and “Liar”. All of them are barn-burners. They have also posted “Stand and Deliver” from the second concert.
    Some background:
They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet).
Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics and is also getting involved in composing.
In mid-2021, Miho left the band she had founded, for personal reasons. They went on hiatus while they searched for a new bassist, and during that time, two of them had babies, even as the band were writing and rehearsing their new album. They recently announced the new bassist, Fami, who is a young phenom and herself a composer and multi-instrumentalist. Their first song with Fami is “Judgement Day” czcams.com/video/m3uGjp-P7DI/video.html
The instrumentalists studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance was that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining.
They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like crazy). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band."
Here are more clips you should check out:
“Set the World on Fire” czcams.com/video/99zsH6iG_6c/video.html from their 2021 concert DVD “Heavy Metal Never Dies”.
    “Don’t Bite the Dust” czcams.com/video/oHnKGEj1CMc/video.html, from the same concert;
"Edge of the World" and "We the United", back to back: czcams.com/video/sl0-U-ykJCU/video.html They form an incredible journey from darkness and despair to light and hope.
    Also, “Empty Daydream”, which starts as a ballad and becomes a real rocker: czcams.com/video/lXh_uMM94jU/video.html;
    Perhaps their greatest masterpiece, a showcase of multi-instrumental virtuosity and even classical dance “A Frozen Serenade” czcams.com/video/Ae8pQVu-RN8/video.html;
And their most reacted-to video, “Holy War”: czcams.com/video/bgAxpEpEcno/video.html
Miyako is also a virtuoso concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. She is self-taught on the guitar. You just got a taste of what she does, with Swan Song.
For a thrasher with heavy Slayer and Metallica vibes, “Break the Wall” czcams.com/video/5Pc0XK0lNmU/video.html includes two gorgeous and completely contrasting solos by M&M.
For a heart-stopping ballad, “Epilogue” czcams.com/video/1ynnXDfEnnY/video.html (this includes a second song, your choice whether or not to react to both)
While you will sometimes hear you should only react to live clips, actually their MV’s are epic and worth seeing. Here are four of the most spectacular:
    "Shadowmaker" czcams.com/video/Brmoln5Gxus/video.html
This is the song that blew up and melted faces all over the world
    "When Destinies Align" czcams.com/video/hLFelI93VkM/video.html
    "Glory to the World" czcams.com/video/-wJtD2XEXH4/video.html
    "Winds of Transylvania" czcams.com/video/HsE4Ub_Pjh8/video.html.
Finally, the audio tracks of some of the new album are up on youtube, and worth checking out. The band clearly came out swinging and wanted to make a statement. Every song on the album is a showcase of their incredible talent and songwriting capabilities. “Stand and Deliver” is a thrasher with a fun video of them in the studio. “Soldier Stands Solitarily”, the final song on the album, is being touted by some as the best thing they’ve done so far-I encourage you to see and decide for yourself!
You'll get lots of suggestions, just one thing: don't bother with Bloodstock footage, the sound quality is poor. Best to take suggestions with actual links. Also, you can’t go wrong with any of their official clips. Welcome to the Wolf-Pack!

Great reaction with feeling. I’ve been listening to rock music for 50 years and I’ve not seen anything like Lovebites before. My favourites are Holy War, Set the World on Fire and the more melodic A Frozen Serenade. Lead vocalist, Asami, also studied ballet. Incredible levels of talent in one band. World tour for them in 2024. From the UK.

Some greatest things around Lovebites are they are not only the performers but also creators of this phenomenal music. Asami the lead vocalist and the former ballerina writes most of the English lyrics, two guitarists, Miyako and Midori and the original bassist, Miho, compose and arrange. And on the stage they present their creation in this very unique and beyond perfectIon level. I just feel musical awe and high respect to their dedication to the history of rock music. Ah, history means they are paving a new page of the rock music. I recommend Liar, Break the Wall, Holly War, Frozen Serenade, End of the World, all live version please…Lol…actually they made no waste song in their 60+ creations. So the recommendation needs to continues further, but I would like to respect other guys thoughts! Welcome to the Wolf pack!!

There are a lot of hyperbole flying in your direction. They are not overblown. The praise LOVEBITES receives is 100% genuine and 100% deserved. I’ve seen them live 4 times this year and will travel whenever and wherever I can afford to do so because three years ago this week they quite literally became my favourite band within 30 seconds of seeing and hearing them. Both on social media and in a live audience it’s pretty apparent that they attract a predominantly male audience and the average age of the audience…online and in person, is, at a guess, over 50. It’s most definitely NOT because they happen to be attractive Japanese women, it’s because they play a type of music that resonates with the generation that got to experience rock and metal at its finest. We know good from average. We know virtuosity when we hear it. It is blatantly obvious after hearing no more than perhaps three songs that this band is incapable of mediocrity. That encourages you to devour their catalogue of 60 plus songs in short order, and in doing so confirms what you already knew.
LOVEBITES are the best least known band in the world. As big as their support may appear on CZcams, their fan base is still tiny, even (or perhaps especially) in Japan. Tiny but vociferous, fiercely loyal and tremendously proud to be able to welcome new Wolfpack members and to encourage them to devote as much time to the Ladies as possible.
Your time reacting to this band will be very rewarding and, being both biased but also brutally honest, much more rewarding than any time spent elsewhere. I recommend their entire catalogue because to single out a single track is tantamount to denigrating 59 others of equal musical excellence.

Lovebites' "fanbase is still tiny, even (or perhaps especially) in Japan."
Tiny especially in Japan? Can you name a country with a larger LB fanbase than that of Japan?
Given the huge size and extremely competitive nature of the music industry in Japan, concentrated and centralized music scene with geographically compact venue circuits with very competitive booking, a particularly large number of good all-female bands, given the metal genre, and given their limited touring, LB have done well to gain the fanbase they have in Japan. It could be bigger, but it's certainly not "especially tiny" there.
I was in Britain, Germany, Netherlands, and France a few weeks ago, and in chats with friends and strangers far fewer people had heard of Lovebites there than in Japan (not that it came up in every conversation, limited sample, unscientific survey of course). And it was the same result in the U.S. a few months ago.

    • @alekhidell
      @alekhidell Před 7 měsíci

@@otobokegaijin6218 no, I can’t name a country with a fan base bigger than Japan. You misunderstand what I meant by my statement. Having visited Japan 3 times in 9 months, twice to see LOVEBITES and once to see Miyako-san’s recital and Fami-san’s anime themed concert, I was dismayed by just how low their profile was in their home city, let alone country. Sapporo held 500 people. The tickets went on sale in December yet didn’t sell out until July…which was lucky for me because I was able to get one. My comment about the size of the fan base is not meant as a slight on anyone. It’s meant as an indication of how much work we as fans need to do to help it grow. I hope that clears things up a little…

watch it a second time yourself as there are closed captions you can turn on in this video. you will then understand what asami is saying. she actually speaks english very well after spending 2 years in the states studying modern dance. and she writes most of the lyrics in their 60 + songs. they decided to reach a wider audience so that all of the songs would be sung in english - all except one from their first ep in 2017 - ' bravehearted'. wait until you see their heavier side. miyako's note bending , pinch harmonics , tapping and sweep picking are flawless. and she kills it on the keys even better and writes about half of their music. and blonde guitarist midori is her equal but shreddier counterpart. best duo out there. there is no one like them - truly unique

Some more points. Asami is hard to understand, but the Lovebites lyrics are absolutely worth listening to. For the most part they are very positive and uplifting. You might switch on subtitles, but don't let them distract you from the beautiful ladies. :)
It's the combination of the instrumentalists' -talent- mastery, Asami's beautiful voice and their composition skills that makes Lovebites so outstanding. Every musical aspect is just top notch. You have noticed all that before the song was even over. They all have some classical background and can play piano (while Miyako is a kind of wunderkind, she can play any instrument, I think). At some point you might notice that Asami is a trained ballerina, too.
Mötley Crüe, yes. Mostly quoted influences are Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Helloween, Megadeth and even Slayer (they have some thrash songs, too). But when Miyako switches to "Gary Moore mode", it will melt your heart.
Two Lovebites quotes: "We wear white because we are ladies and we don't want to look like 95% of the other metal bands" and "We are not here to be cute, we are here to play heavy metal".
I'm 55 and I've had a lot of favorite bands in my life, but Lovebites is the first one I really feel love for, deep love, and I'm not ashamed to say it.

And this wasn't even their best song. The most impressive part was Miyako switching from piano to guitar and back again. They also have heavier tracks than this with some that sound like Slayer or Metallica. @@ThatOddLife

    Welcome to LOVEBITES 🤘🏼🐺🔥
Here some information about the band:
LOVEBITES are around since 2016 and their first EP and album came out in 2017. At this point they have already released 4 albums, some Singles/EPs and also a bunch of live DVD/Blu-ray releases.
Back in 2018/2019 LOVEBITES have already toured in Europe, including appearances at the major metal festivals as Wacken, Download, Bloodstock, Graspop. In 2018 they also won the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award for best new band.
Then came Covid, their original bass player and founder Miho quit the band for personal reasons and two babies were born. After a break LOVEBITES came back with new bassist Fami and new song „Judgement Day“ in late 2022. A new album with the same title came out in February 2023.
Today the band announced that „Judgement Day“ was voted #15 in best metal albums of the year 2023 by readers of Metal Hammer UK. What is a fantastic result for a still relatively unknown band. That’s the power of the Wolfpack 🐺
LOVEBITES finished touring in Japan about 2 months ago. Earlier this year in march they played their comeback show, 2 evenings at the same venue. This was their first live gig since 2021 and first show with their new bassist Fami. There are 4 videos from evening one on their YT channel. I suggest to you the song „The Hammer of Wrath“ from this concert for a next reaction. Recently also the live version of „Stand and deliver“ was released on LOVEBITES YT channel which was played on evening two of this double concert.
We the Wolfpack, name of LOVEBITES fans worldwide, are all hoping for a world tour next year. LOVEBITES have already announced 3 international festival appearances for 2024 (Prog Power - Atlanta/USA, Rock Imperium - Cartagena/Spain, Hellfest - Clisson/France)
The band members are (including their official nicknames) ...
Asami on vocals (the one and only voice):
amazing vocal range, most of the lyrics, also song writing, former ballerina and RnB/soul singer
Miyako on guitars, piano, keyboards (the golden touch):
main composer of the band, soulful but also shreddy guitar player, concert level pianist, loves her pets and Star Wars
    Midori on guitars (crazy shredder):
Incredibly fast and technical guitar player, songwriting for a few songs, body fitness athlete
Haruna on drums (little big engine):
Best drummer in the universe (IMO), wrote one of their songs including lyrics, handmade miniature fake food creator
Fami on bass since 2022 (shining fingers):
bass prodigy, speaks faster than sonic speed, smiles non-stop
Miho on bass until 2021 (natural born headbanger):
songwriting and lyrics, astonishing bass player
The band was her idea, she and Haruna were the founding members!

As you're already bitten hard, consider yourself being member of the Wolfpack. We are all addicted to LOVEBITES talent and awesomeness.
All 5 members of the band are extremely skilled and professional, but also awesome persons. They were founded in 2016 from members of
other groups from different directions (e.g. the singer Asami was R&B/soul singer, ballerina, studied dance, and did R&R covers and background vocals).
They did 4 self-written albums now, and after their first era (2017 - 2021), they did a best-of album, where they let the fans decide, which songs to use.
It was kind of sad, that they were heavily hit by Covid-19 and the departure of their bassist Miho (seen in this video), who was also founder and band leader, for personal reasons (e.g. her father died in 2018, when they played in Europe, Wacken W-O-A and Bloodstock B-O-A). They went on hiatus with this best-of album and a song, that promised, that they come back. They've made a worldwide audition for a new bassist in early and mid 2022 and confirmed Fami (20yo prodigy with a 700K CZcams channel) as the new bassist in October 2022. New song December, new album February 2023, new live performances (the second of which will be released next week) in March 2023, Japan tour and live album in August/September 2023. Three festival dates in Europe and the US confirmed for 2024 yet. #15 metal album of 2023 on Metal Hammer. Ready for a breakout...
All songs are excellent, some of them masterpieces, it doesn't matter which one you use, LOVEBITES won't disappoint you.
They are from different styles of heavy metal and hard rock, recognizable tune, mostly with solo-solo-harmonizing scheme, many different songs.
Best played live, although their OMVs are quite good. Extremely well produced live albums and OMVs (with specialists from Finland, that did Nightwish as well).
They hit me 6 month and a day ago, when I got a notification from Millie's reaction channel. I was immediately bitten and explored all that awesome stuff... Enjoy your ride!

+1 for A Frozen Serenade. It includes some ballet and my favorite guitar solo by Midori (the blonde guitarist). czcams.com/video/Ae8pQVu-RN8/video.html@@ThatOddLife

Wolfpack's here and everywhere. Great review of yours. It's just heavy accent in English of the singer. It is not that you are not concentrating to listen or not listening hard, and I totally agree with you that we don't care about the lyrics. This is about music, about its sound. We can read the lyrics in text anyway. My suggestion for your next reaction to Lovebites is Break The Wall czcams.com/video/5Pc0XK0lNmU/video.html. A heavy and thrashy piece. Or A Frozen Serenade czcams.com/video/Ae8pQVu-RN8/video.html. It's a most audially and visually beautiful live performance with surprises.

Classical music and metal has much in common. I use to say that there is nothing more metal than Bach. These girls are wonderful. And they are actually quite popular today and doing some touring. Mainly in Japan, but there are some limited abroad tours planned for 2024. There are some exceptions, but you shall concentrate on live performances. That where they shine, and some of the music videos are over produced IMHO. Too much backing stuff. One music video I really like is "Stand and deliver", but I think you shall learn to know them first, otherwise you will miss most of the fun parts in the video.
    * The standard piece everyone should listen to is "Holy War" in Zepp Diver City 2020. People that see that first totally drop their yaws.
    * The most listened to today is "The Hammer of Wrath" from 2023 or actually "Stand and deliver" from 2023.
    * A surprise is "A frozen serenade" with ballet, piano, acoustic guitar and heavy metal, mixed.
    * A fun one is "Dancing with the devil", a jazzy thing where the singer get the possibility to show her sassy side. One of my favorites.
    * "Break the wall" is more heavy stuff and also "Set the world on fire".
    * If you want to see them have fun then you can look at "Raise some hell" or "M.D.O.".
    * They have a fun streaming event where they play audio for "Soldier stand solitarily". This might be their fastest song.

If you like Nightwish and Lovebites, then you should check out Versailles Aristocrats Symphony live Holy Grail.
They are a Visual Kei Melodic Symphonic Power Metal band from Japan.
And you should check out Aldious Dominator live Radiant A O East. They were the first successful All Female Metal band from Japan since Show Ya from the 1980s.
They came put on 2008 have 9 studio albums all of which were Billboard Japan top 100 albums.
They have about 80 songs in their Discography and not one bad song in the bunch.
And they busted the door opened for all other female bands like Lovebites to come through, Lovebites is a lot like Aldious except for extended solos.
