I regret buying his stove. It works fine but if I cant turn it on remotely, what is the point. I don't need a phone to set the temperature when I can set it on the stove especially when I need to press start.
Gas? Yup I find it annoying not being able to do anything but monitor it. I can understand why they did it, but it doesn't make me any less annoyed by it. I only use it now as a way to double check that it wasn't accidentally left on it, or check how much cook time is left in oven without actually walking over to it to look.
Hi..thanks for this. I can't start the oven remotely for some reason. When I "send to oven", a message pops up: Press START button on the Oven to start cooking. I don't know what I"m doing wrong. Please help if possible. Thanks.
I'm not sure about the electric version, but the gas one you cannot fully start remotely due to safety reasons. The best you can do is what you've seen, start it on the phone then press start on the oven itself.
@Lilbit710 Interesting, mine was disabled from the start. But i guess it's in line with your experience as I got my oven in earlier 2021. I must have gotten mine right after they disabled that feature.
If u have still have problems hooking up your stove to your Wi-Fi You need to remove the stove from app - sign out your smart thing app account- reboot your phone sign by in smart thing app add your range again .it took me 5 try’s to get hoop up
Useless, why set the temperature and cook time on the phone if I then have to go to the oven and press start. I might as well skip the app and go straight to the oven.
Try unplugging it and plugging it back in to rest the software in the stove? They use location in the app for smart features that turn things on and off with your arrival or departure from the area. App works with some security hardware too so it uses your location for that as well.
In your range control panel. Bottom left corner has a button called "smart control". Press and hold that until the letters "AP" appear in the center of the control panel, where to click is displayed.
If you go into smartthings app, click on the "range". From the Range screen, in the upper right corner, click the triple vertical dots, and click 'Settings'. From there you need to turn on the Synchronize Time option. I think it's off by default. Once you turn it on, it *should* sync.
No error codes? Just says not connecting? Try rebooting your phone first or if you have another device, try connecting it to that first and see if it works or not. You can also try powering the range off for a few minutes by unplugging it or turning off the breaker for it, then plug it back in and see if it resets itself. Those would be the easiest things to try first.
@@nourchebly6845 if you don't know how to do MAC filtering, then the chances are high that your router is not setup for Mac filtering. In one of the comment replies I have listed how to do a wifi reset on the dryer. It should be similar for the range as well.
What Version of Smart Things are you using when you made this? Is your Remote starting Function still Available on your Oven and if it is is it a Dual Fuel unit? I don't know what version it was, it was a long time ago. This is a gas range so there is no remote start ability. With the gas range, you can send the oven temp and cook time to the oven, but you have to manually hit the start button on the oven in order to start it up. You also have to turn on the 'Smart Control' feature first by pressing the 'Smart Control' button on the oven in order to control it from the app, which seems to turn itself off after every use, so the button needs to be pressed every time I want to control the oven from the app.
@@R-TechEnthusiast ugh, i was looking for a solution to exactly what you described! Whats the point of remote anything if you have to press the wifi button everytime. Id love to preheat the oven on the way home. 🤦🏻♀️ (mine is induction)
I haven't seen any label displaying the MAC address. So the simplest way, assuming the range is connected to the router already, would be to look for the range in your list of WiFi connected devices and pull the MAC from there.
@@R-TechEnthusiast It is not connected. I have to enter manually the MAC address before router connect to it. That what it means router MAC restriction or filtration.
@@KS-tf6nw you said restringing though, not restricting. :) your options are a little more involved then. You could create a guest network that doesn't restrict MAC addresses and connect it to that first, get your MAC, then reset the range and connect it to your normal network again. I used to do MAC filtering too and found it to much of a pain to do after a while and removed it and just use a very long and difficult password instead now. Another option is to create a network dedicated to your IoT devices and connect the range and any other IoT devices to that and keep it separate from your main network that way if you have a poorly secured device (from manufacturer), you wouldn't have to worry about a hacker getting into your network via the IoT device. This is the route I have set up at my house. You would give internet access to the IoT network and allow access to the IoT from the main network but deny access to the main network from the IoT network.
Honestly, I haven't found a solution on the net to disable it. Seems like once it's on, it's on for good. You could always try deleting it from your SmartThings app, then change the AP name or password for your WIFI so that it wouldn't be able to connect to your WIFI and with it removed from the app, it shouldn't get the updated WIFI info the next time you open the SmartThings app. But that would also mean updating the WIFI to your other devices like phones/tablets.
@@R-TechEnthusiast thanks for the reply. After messing with it for well over two hours, I flipped off the breaker and deleted the app. When it started up again it was an entirely different procedure. The stove top burners? On a gas range you cannot since it's a physical knob you turn. No clue on the electrical version though.
