That’s why they are scared to invest in it. They don’t understand the value of Bitcoin as digital Gold!
Exactly. In 2013 I didn't invest in Bitcoin because I listened to people who said its made out of thin air. In 2016 I did my own research and discovered there is only 21M Bitcoin and will never be more. I learned about the halvening and its security so I invested and rode the bull and bear markets. Now I am retired at 42 with a bunch of real estate paying me. And guess what, people are still saying it is high risk and to stay away even though governments are mining it, the US has $8.2B of it, its legal tender in 2 countries, there are now ETFs, and blah blah blah I can go on and on. The advice they should give is to get some exposure and hold it for 10 years. I feel anyone not advising that is doing a disservice.
They not into the ethics of investing. They don't care how they make money. Bitcoin solves problems based on the fiat monetary system which keeps most of the world in poverty.
The fact that they haven't explored how Bitcoin is designed to be a self custodial solution to stop government debasement just shows that they are selfishly investing only

Respect your opinion, but I disagree. Bitcoin is uncorrelated to stocks, so a 1%-5% allocation is a great way to add diversity to your portfolio. 160% return in ‘23, & it’s still early. God bless!

Vanguard is an old institution run by old people who are not keeping up with modern technology. You make a fair point about Bitcoin, just don't get left behind sticking with these old institutions
Why fix something thats not broken?
Sometimes fear is our biggest impediment to achieving our goals or getting forward.
Imagine if the person that invented Bitcoin felt content with the monopoly status quo of our financial banking system. Or better still, the people who invented the Internet, were content with the telephone communication system of the time. Would we be able to have this type of discussion/debate right now? Just coz the old system works, it doesn't mean we can't improve it or make it better. Otherwise, we'd still be riding donkeys n horses to work.That is the main reason we have a term known as "innovation."

I think in the end it is important to remember your individual investing style and tolerance. This type of ETF would not be something that fits my investing style but it may fit others. If I can achieve my financial goals by more stable, historically stronger and easier to understand methods that is what I prefer. I am not looking for the quick win or feeling FOMO. Keep the videos coming. You guys are a great resource.

I invested in Bitcoin and Ethereum in a Self-directed Roth IRA in 2017 with 4% of my net worth.
How did you do that- I thought you could only hold securities in IRAs? Isn’t that the whole point of these ETFs?
I have ETHE that I got at a discount to NAV in my Roth
@Databhoy Self Directed IRAs allows you to buy more of a variety of assets . I currently use the IRA Club. There are plenty of Self Directed IRA companies to choose from like Directed IRA.

That being said
I think if you're over a certain age and need to protect your money Crypto as well as a ton of other investments including a lot of individual stocks is a bad idea.
Even all the shady platforms going insolvent couldn't slow Bitcoin down which has to say something.
You don't have to like it but if you can't see that Crypto isn't going anywhere by now just means you don't want to see it.
If Charlie Munger were still around, he would have called that etf assorted rat poison. In addition to tracking AAPL price, we are able to track apple's iPhone sales and new products. Many people are doing business using the magnificent seven's products. What has Bitcoin done for us lately apart from having a stock that we can buy and sell?

It gives us returns that beat any other asset in wall street over the past decade. It keeps our dollars growing in purchasing power instead of losing value to inflation.

Warren Buffet eventually folded and bought a tech stock. Jamie Diamond will fold too if he hasn't already in secret.
Awesome vid and thanks for sharing. I am a Vanguard guy and I appreciate and agree on what you said regarding the brokerage and Bitcoin ETF non-offer. I invested in the Bitcoin ETF (not with Vanguard) because Blackrock, Fidelity, and Franklin Templeton are offering it on their platforms.; And, even though Vanguard is not offering it, I found it a little deceptive of Vanguard because Vanguard is the 2nd largest holder of MicroStrategy (holder of 189,150 Bitcoins). So, in my head, Vanguard is investing in Bitcoins (though indirectly) but its not allowing its clients to invest in Bitcoins...hmmm!

5 years ago, I was fully on the same train as these guys. I was able to retire at 40. I've since evolved and now am roughly 50/50 split between stock index funds and Bitcoin. I'm looking forward to see where the next 5 years takes us!
@6:00 I think you need to expand on this insurance protection as it concerns bitcoin ETFs because I think the statements may be confusing and possibly not accurate. If a ETF goes under what happens to the stock holder's investment? Depends on what "under" is: bankruptcy or drastic under performance or not enough investment money. Investors could lose most of their investment or if lucky have capital gains which to some investors may be an unexpected tax consequence. If there is fraud involved like FTX then how much do investors expect to get back? The SEC doesn't catch everything before it happens.
I think you are misunderstanding what the SIPC covers. It's not about the failure of the ETF (or any other investment). It's about the failure of the brokerage firm, like we mentioned. The SIPC does not cover you simply if your investments fail.

Fidelity has autocustody of the btc that back up the Fbtc. The others bitcoins etfs has their btcs in Coinbase.

I respect your opinion about investing bitcoin and appreciate your perspective. It's surely not for the traditional investing mind. As you mention, if anyone with hi-risk hi-return manaing mind (also smaller %) , it's worth explorering as the world is changing fast with crypto market. It doesn't hold any value itself, but it hold value of being able to revolutionize "what is money"? question. If more people start to recognize and adopting that value, it will become a valuable investing asset class. Thanks.
Dollar cost averaging is the most powerful tool for investors
Bitcoin is global money with a supply cap that you can self-custody, bring with you anywhere, and/or send to anyone with an internet connection including across borders
This is not a new problem solver we already have solutions for that so I’m lost on the new value that is being addded by BITCOIN. Cathie saying it will get to $1.5 million sounds like a pump and dump move now that a quarter of her portfolio is in Bitcoin.

Have you researched the fact that there will be only 21M Bitcoin ever, the "halvenings" and its supply shock every 4 years which will continue every 4 years. Once you realize this you will start to understand that there will be pull backs but ultimately the price is going higher. This is exactly the reason you hear those outlandish price predictions of 500k, and $1M bitcoin prices.
Did you know the US government holds 200,000 Bitcoin? Did you know it is legal tender in 2 countries, many governments are currently mining it. El Salvador is all in on Bitcoin.
This latest news with the ETF means more than the corporations putting in their capital. It means the US government will never criminalize its use or investment which I saw as the biggest risk to its price.
I strongly urge you to really learn about Bitcoin and think about a small exposure to hold for a min of 5 years. For the history of Bitcoin, everyone who has done that has come out way ahead.
Out of all of those thousands of assets you could invest in, which one has outperformed Bitcoin since it's launch in 2009? Here's a hint...none of them:-)

do you know that you can buy crypto on an exchange then move it to your own crypto wallet like ledger or tangem wallet? Or but Bitcoin from Fidelity Investments? Pretty safe way to but Bitcoin directly. Volatily yes. But you can count on it going up like clockwork every 4 years. Buy the Etf dollar cost averaging beginning especially after 12 months after its all time high.

EXACTLY! Bitcoin is back by the technology that runs it, the thousands of lines of code, the billions of dollars spent on hardware to create its worldwide decentralized network, the energy used to run it, its encryption, the fact that its legal tender in ALL of El Salvador and Central African Republic, the fact that many governments are openly mining it and the US government holds $8.2B of it, the thousands of developers who work on it, the payment, payroll, and remittance services created on top of it, and over 15 years of it running.
But people think the US dollar is back by the US government. All I see is the US government destroying the value of the dollar... thats not backing it.
All you guys are going to regret not investing into blockchain technology. I can promise you that😂😂😂.

Vanguard Group held over 1,126 million MSTR shares as of September 2023, making it the second-largest institutional shareholder in the company, with 8.24% ownership. Interesting that they own so much of a company that is basically a proxy for Bitcoin, but does not want their customers to invest in the ETF🤔

Vanguard shouldn't allow people to buy Eastman Kodak stock and a bunch of other stocks that don't produce profits either. Let people make their own decisions with their financial advisor who is a fiduciary. I left Vanguard a long time ago, but my son's account is still there. 8 international jurisdictions have had Bitcoin ETFs available for a while now: Canada, Germany, Brazil and Australia, as well as Jersey, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Guernsey.
As it finally opted to join the party, USA is now the 9th.

Bitcoin doesn’t need to be backed by anything, it’s digital gold and a superior asset. As for Vanguard, I’m pretty sure some of their customers are going g to migrate so they can get exposure to Bitcoin.

You should learn about Bitcoins supply (only 21M of them ever) Also learn about the halvenings and why there are cycles. Learn about the fact the US Gov holds 200,000 Bitcoin and governments around the world are mining and using it. 2 Countries have already made it legal tender and more will come.
I was just like you until I did a deep dive. What I found was shocking and I was so mad I didn't pay attention earlier.
Think of the investment market like a BUFFET. It normally has everything from sweet, sour, salty, strong smell, mild smell etc...
Each individual picks what suits their taste n keep the line moving. I guarantee you that at the end of the day, all the food will be cleaned out and everyone is stuffed n happy with their choice even though some may throw up as a of the choices they made!!
Bottom line! Don't pick something out coz of the hype from someone. It may make you puke while it may not do the same to the other party.
Pick something coz you know it works n feels right for you and you're ready to deal with the aftermath if it ends up going left!! Basically,u gots 2b a Ride or Die!

Buying of just any ETFs is easy, but buying the right one without a time-tested strategy is incredibly hard. Hence which is best to buy now or put on a watchlist? I’ve been trying to grow my portfolio of $260K for sometime now, my major challenge is not knowing the best entry and exit strategies.
Bitcoin may not be for you and I respect that it appears you guys have carved out your niche and don’t need it but it’s not going anywhere it’s a new asset class and a future form of currency. You can already buy things with bitcoin remember paper fiat currency is not backed by anything either.
Bitcoin promises many things, and folks throughout history always hinge on hope and dreams. Whether it’s snake oil or the greatest thing since the last greatest thing, only time will tell.

Investing in Bitcoin is like throwing your hard earned money in a fireplace in my opinion. Bitcoin went from being a decentralized currency to very much centralized with these ETFs. Totally against the original concept.

Bitcoin paper is centralized. Bitcoin itself is decentralized.
The concept of "Decentralization" deals with the chain and not the currency. There is a difference between Bitcoin (Big B) and bitcoin (little b). One deals with the network and one the currency. The network is Decentralized meaning there is no one point of attack. The network isn't controlled by one party regardless of how much of the currency is owned by one party. Decentralization is not about how much of the currency is owned by one party.
