  • Unexplained noises from the sky have been reported for centuries, and while most can be explained by human actions today, many remain a bit of a mystery. So let's take a look at the mysterious phenomenon of skyquakes.

    My partner and I moved to a new home, up in the mountains, far from any towns or other people. After about a month of being there, we both started hearing a ringing noise and it was intense. We couldn't find out what it was, but it was strongest in the bedroom. We thought we would have to move, because the ringing was maddening. Sometimes it wasn't strong enough to notice, but once you thought about it, it was noticeable. We went to the shops and could hear it there too, but not as strongly. That's when we decided that it was all in our heads. We went to visit my family for three weeks and when we returned to our home, the ringing sounds was gone. I haven't heard it since.

    @10:54 When I was a child, the actual 15kHz sound generated by the old TV sets was very painful to me. I literally could walk into a department store and be hit with pain from the tv areas. As an adult, I can't hear the squeal of a tv set but tinnitus creates a similar sound in my head and can be suddenly exacerbated when my blood pressure spikes. The sound also get louder if you focus your attention on it. So its ripe for a psychosomatic illness.

    • @FoulOwl2112
      @FoulOwl2112 Před rokem +2

      I used to hear that too. Especially in department stores with large TV sections. Since high frequency hearing is the first to go l lost the ability to hear it by 12 or 13.
      Even if we had our high frequency intact though, we rarely would hear it anymore.
      It was generated by what is called the flyback coil, or flyback transformer. Which supplied the extremely high voltages to the anode of the cathode ray tube. I think it was in the range of 15kHz if memory serves...
      Modern TVs dont require such high voltages. Thus not requiring a flyback coil.

      @@tseeker438 I get what you're saying, but such a low frequency sound would carry so little energy and I'm guessing there is literally nothing in the body that could resonate with such low-frequency vibrations. Compared to the molecular jostling you get at room temperature... Well to illustrate how low energy the hum is, it took 40 years (up to 1990s) for them to even pick out this hum from other noise; this versus the constant bombardment RNA experiences from its surrounding water molecules, the motion and energies of which were pretty well described in the early 1900s.(Useful search terms: "average speed of water molecules" "CONTINUOUS FREE OSCILLATIONS Atmosphere-Solid Earth Coupling" (a paper by T. Tanimoto and "Perrin Einstein nobel prize"). Of course the scientific answer would be to actually do the experiment, in which case you're right, who knows? But given the above, my guess is nothing interesting happens ^^;
      I'm not an expert on vibrations though! So plenty of margin for experts in that vein to chime in.

    This reminds me of "the green flash" phenomenon that I experienced while driving on the west coast of the US in northern California near to sunset. For a moment, the upper part of the sky turned a sort of turquoise green color. I blinked, and shook my head. Looking again, it was normal sky blue. I assumed I had experienced some sort of momentary visual hallucination and just thought it odd. A couple of years later I read a newspaper article on this phenomenon and its cause. Felt much better about my mental capabilities afterwards, and pleased that I was able to witness such a rare phenomenon.

    Joe, a few years ago I had a podcast here in Brazil with a group of friends... And we invited a guy named Ubirajara Rodrigues to participate.
    He was famous as a ufologist, because of the case Varginha, and as a "supernatural investigator"... But he was pretty skeptical, at least at that time.
    And anyway, he told us a really fascinating story of a place in a road where you could hear some sounds... Like of people being tortured or something. You know? A real ghost story.
    So he went there with a group of people to investigate... They camped there and waited for the night. People said the noises only happened during the night. So... Around midnight the sound really started! And they recorded it and so on...
    Then, around 3AM they decided to go and see where the sound was coming from. You know, it's perfectly safe, it's not how it happens on horror movies or anything. So they started walking towards the sound and it was getting stronger... Until they passed by some bamboo plants... And the sound started to get weaker.
    So, long story short... The bamboo were attacked by an insect that made holes in it. The wind came and... You can imagine the rest. 😂
    Unfortunately, it's not online anymore and his audio was pretty bad, unfortunately. But he really has some amazing stories! 😃
    Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

      My son and I experienced what we've come to know as "Seneca Guns" twice within a couple of hours on a bluff above the Pacific Ocean about 100 km north of Sydney, Australia. The first time we were walking through a wooded reserve towards the edge of the bluff, and the second time was an hour or more afterwards when we were walking back to the carpark. Not only did we hear a very loud bang but the ground shook enough for us to be almost knocked off our feet and for us to reach to hold onto trees to keep our balance. It was quite unnerving. We made enquiries of the local council, but they assured us that there was no work in the area using dynamite, and they had received no other reports of the noise and shaking. The Australian GeoNet which tracks earthquakes had no other reports than ours about the shaking. To this day we have no idea what an explanation could have been.

Are there things we still don’t know? Yep. As mentioned is this video these things have been happening for 100’s of years. I personally refuse to believe we are alone. I've been experiencing a deep hum that's only audible on rare occasions. After ruling out many theories like the new metro line (which is in fact known to disturb people in certain areas), I finally located the culprit: The many parallel iron bars on the balcony I had installed a few years ago. Certain combinations of wind speed and direction will match their resonant frequency, causing them to vibrate at 42 to 44 Hz (with a harmonic overtone at 84 to 88 Hz). The noise can be recorded and measured, and even felt by putting my finger on one of them iron bars during such winds. But because it only happens so rarely, it sure took me some time to figure out!

    I have for over 8 years, "heard" a vibration. I use quotes because I don't believe the noise is audible but really more of a vibration I pick up, or feel (hear) in my head. Other people don't, I have checked with a few. Somedays it's a soft sound, others more demanding of my attention. And sometimes it isn't there at all. I know it's strange but it is real to me.

    Great episode! It reminded me of a few instances in my life. One was growing up in Newark, TX and crashing my bike near a house with a loose dog who, after I'd retreated, wouldn't let me near my bike. Suddenly there was a loud boom in the sky that startled the dog and almost allowed me to reach my bike. Almost. It was the 80s and with an Air Force base nearby sonic booms weren't too unusual.
    The next was an instance at a church camp were a group of us all saw a rock wall in a creek bed one night that hadn't been there before. As we approached it the illusion faded but fascinating that once one of us mentioned it the rest saw it too.
    And finally there are months where I hear a low rumble, which I'd always suspected were nearby trains. Later I realized the sounds was inside my ears, some kind of oscillation in my eustachian tubes when my allergies act up.
    Not that anyone will read this... Lol

      too bad its something to stay. most of them come from critical thinkers, from wich some people run of with those idea's, blowing it up as if its actually real (instead of just askig some questions for debate). the more people resist these idea's, the stronger those false idea's become (Yes I know, its crazy). only way to counter the false idea's is to join in on the critical thinking and showing your oppinion rather then straight out saying its bs.
      Also, not saying they sell bs, but even the big trusted media has theire own agenda. and straight out believing those stories is just as bad as actually believing in the conspiracy stories.

About 5 strikes later my dad packed us up and home we went.
