  • India is the worlds largest democracy with one of the fastest-growing populations on the planet. With so many new mouths to feed, tractors need to be produced quickly and cheaply to maximise the countries agricultural base.

I wouldn't like to work on a tractor like this daily. The fuel consumption is probably quite bad, no roll over protection (which is mandatory in Europe on tractors without a cabin), probably bad suspention on seat, cheap, difficult to shift gearboxes. Modern tractors feel more like a car to drive (pedal feel, steering, sound insulation). They are like old tractors but new and cehaper.

This world is so sad. We can lift millions of people out of poverty if we help them manufacture more good quality tractors. Instead for decades and even now we just let these poor Indians with their low currency and low production rate. Like seriously, let's just give them tractors and mechanical assistance for a time while training many of them up to do it by themselves. Of this is the sort of thing that led to an economic boom in the West, obviously we should strive to replicate the industrialisation with as little pain as possible elsewhere...
