    A female cousin of mine worked for a few decades as a long haul flight attendant with United. She told me her menstrual cycles were all messed up and unpredictable and she was never able to conceive a child. She attributed this to her job, since her sisters and mother did not have this problem at all.

    Great video! I doubt that it was only because of the flying. Surely it's stressful. However, I had similar symptoms before and after switching from a SAD to a whole foods plant-based diet. Our gut is the biggest part of our immune system! If one wants to feel well, one needs to treat the gut biome well.

      It's all about lifestyle and consistency. If you're living your life upside down, it's obvious your body as a reaction gets all chronically inflamed, chronically in a state of emergency, trying to retain as much as it can from food, turning it into fat, making you also feel hungrier, less satisfied, slowing down your overall metabolism. It's insane how bad it is to be a nurse, doctor, flight attendant, working a night shift! Agreed!

    very informative video👍.My aunt, who flew 777 and 787 and 747s for almost 35 years, loved this video! totally agree .Back in old days layovers were week long (for ulr flights)and rest periods were very well given, they were pretty highly paid and it was a very sexist era, unlike today's busy flying. I just have a question, does Emirates follow FDTL (flight duty time limitations), and can you report any violations to flight safety department? ultra long haul flight attendants in our airline here who only fly ULH(maybe its more tiring for mix fleet crew) find the rest period to be pretty sufficient, except with adjusting to the circadian rhythm and in flight rest availed during first half or second half.

    • @WishCasting
      @WishCasting  Před 3 lety +3

      Hi Sue! Thanks for the very nice and elaborate comment! Yes, back in the days sets of crew were dispatched every 1 week to most of the destinations, and would stay there for an entire week or even up to 10 days of layover time. Nowadays there are so many passengers flying that, aircrafts just go back and forth, and cabin crew get a 24h layover only. Those were the golden days.
      We can request by email a breakdown of our flying hours with associated levels of absorbed/exposed to radiation. We may also view these values on our personal profile on our portal "HR Direct". This allows us to monitor the amount of hours and, report it if necessary. Emirates never goes over the yearly quota cabin crew can fly for. But might push you to your limit on certain months if needed.
      The consequence of flying too much, apart from health, is that most of our beautiful 48h layovers in the US and other destinations have been removed, turning ULRs into unpleasant flights and layovers, where most of the time is spent recovering rather than living your life (layover time is our free time, yet its thrown straight into the garbage because of tiredness).
      Unfortunately there is little to do, this is how competition and a larger population push companies to seek profit, neglecting cabin crew health and wellbeing (mental mostly)

      Sure! Eat a lot of vegetables and fruits. Take supplements: vitamin B12, Biotin, Ginkgo, Vitamin D, Omega 3. Don't eat carbohydrates before going to bed. Sleep at least 8 hours each day. Avoid as much as you can to fly on polar routes.
      Flying is famous for giving you cancer, that's because of cosmic radiations, so the best thing you can do is to eat anti cancer foods, and taking supplements to have a higher dose.
      Another thing I recommend is Spirulina! Green powder made of Algae, great for having extra nutrients (plant based) at any time of the day (add it to your smoothies!)

    Two of my close friends are flight attendants and both have children and became pregnant during their employment as a cabin crew, a blogger, Ana_theflyingmama also had her kids while working for one of the biggest aviation companies so I don't think that doing the above mentiond job makes getting pregnant that much harder. That's great to know! Unfortunately it is very well documented that flying causes an inhospitable place for a fetus to root, grow and stay healthy. There are many exceptions of course, but fertility is inversely proportional to the amount of flying and makes it harder to get pregnant. Thanks for documenting this on our channel.
