Coach Bluder knows the first rule of womens sports. Everybody matters. Credit to those who came before, as you are standing on their shoulders. This interview, Lynette Woodard is incredibly gracious, and deserving the recognition. Thanks JayHawks for letting the Hawkeyes borrow one of yours for the day. Oh, and Maya Moore thing, Iowa giving time to CCs childhood hero. What a special day
Wonderful scenes. This was a moment in time for every person that cares about the women's game.
Love to hear this! It was so great seeing Ms. Lynette on the Carver Hawkeye Court. She was go grateful for the standing ovation. A very touching moment. Thank you Lisa Bluder for making sure she was recognized! Very sweet how much this meant to her
Lynette Woodard and Caitlin Clark are both incredibly inspiring figures in the basketball world, each making their own unique mark. It's always so motivating to hear about athletes like them who not only excel in their sport but also inspire others along their journey. Woodard's trailblazing career has certainly paved the way for future generations, and now Clark is making waves with her talent and dedication. Their impact goes beyond just their scores and plays; it's about the passion they bring to the game and how they encourage young athletes to dream big and work hard. It's a reminder of how powerful sports can be in shaping not just athletes, but also the communities they touch.
what a moving interview, so glad I had a chance to watch it. What a great lady.
Lynette Woodard is awesome. It’s great that this moment for Clark helped to shine some light on her accomplishments as well as Pistol and Pearl.
she is amazing person , she paved CC s way
It just goes to show that folks that extend a hand and recognize "true talent", are the folks that will make this world a great place. These gestures are much more than moments on a basketball court. Lynette;;; definitely a woman full of many talents and I'm so glad that she was brought to the forefront. And of course, the great Maya Moore is always wonderful to see!!
This lady is - Grace Level maxed-out!
Yes, very claay lady!
She speaks so well
Lynette seems like an amazing person! I wish I could find more footage of her playing. Only found a couple highlights but will keep looking. More videos I found are interviews and also her award acceptance speech. Seems like a high quality and smart person who would make a great teacher and coach. See she also coached at Winthrop several years. Glad she is getting more notoriety as she deserves and hopefully more to come!
Lynette .. a class act..!
Absolutely. While we recognize Ms. Clark's accomplishment, we must remember those who came before her such as Ms. Woodward, who created the foundation for women's collegiate basketball.
@@drummer7006Lynette played against middle school talent and is salty whitey beat her😂
In what way is she a class act for throwing a fit because her record was broken?
@@Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa369 agreed. She trying to say her record stands because there was no 3 point line. We dont change mens records for when they had the 3 line
@@okaydudes Not to mention the competition today is much tougher.
First class!
Rock Chalk baby!❤🎉
Lynette Woodard - class act!!!
Awesome interview.
Amazing work
💯 class! I didn’t know Lynette Woodard before but she is a legend to me now.
I don't remember anyone make such a big deal when Plum beat the record. Why now & not then? CC is the best to play ncaa wbb.
When Plum was in college they were still the 128th most talked about sport and nobody cared. Clark has catapulted college women's basketball into the mainstream and theis level of attention will put more eyes on her and her records.
Many reasons. CC has a strong fan base in Iowa that helps make noise literally and figurately in womens basketball. CC's logo shots set her apart from all the others. She has made the game exciting to watch for even non womens BB fans. CC has gotten a lot of media and celebrity attention for her logo shots and high scoring. Also Plum didnt actually pass Woodards scoring record which wasnt even highly acknowledged until recently... for whatever reasons. Those are just a few reasons. The timing of CC along with her range just caught on. Sometimes its all just timing and circumstances combined with her skills.
@@avidadolares ur absolutely right..TIMING.
@@avidadolares I under stand that, but why didn't the people or the sports journalists who followed women's sports mention her? You would think they would. I think CC has gotten a lot if undeserving amount of hate.
In Iowa CC was popular before any of you even heard of her. Her scoring, that’s what brought the media, not her color. The way she handled her self after the game, that’s why they stayed.
Let’s be fr here. Caitlyn is obviously a rare talent on the court, but the fact that she is also white absolutely contributes to the media coverage she receives. And I’m not blaming her for that. That’s just the way it is. 🤷🏿♂️
Lynette!! I remember seeing her play with the Harlem Globetrotters, the first woman to do so!!
Funny...I never heard Joe Montanna talking smack about Tom Brady after he eclipsed him..........
The ORIGINAL queen of the court, who demanded ORDER in HER court of scoring back in the day ❤
Lynette Woodard = school in summertime
Caitlin is good but is not a Lynette Woodard A legend who did legendary things 🤔
Class . America is lacking what this woman has..
the founder
She was a class act but it’s obvious she didn’t think it after this past week.
So sad to see how u weee so two faced.
Lisa Bluder probably is crushed.
Muppets are real 😂😂😂
Funny how you never heard of these players until CC. How come we didn't hear about them when Plum was breaking the record. Do you think it's because race might have something to do with it.
aren't Plum and Clark the same race? 😭
It's because cc is cold with a capitol C. She is not only a beautiful basketball player to watch but a beautiful person to watch grow.
Possibly, but the NCAA made the Mistake by not Tying in the AIAW Records
when they Sanctioned Women's B-Ball before Plum went on her run, which wasn't
getting as Much Attention being out West & the East Coast bias;
What should have happened is the Media / NCAA Recognizing Plum as the
#1 Scorer in the 3-Point era then & @ the Least when Ms. CLARK was beginning
to Close in w/ the Storyline of her Chasing Plum for the 3-Point era Record &
Woodard for the Overall Mark; Keep in Mind, she played w/o the 3- Pointer
and w/ the Same Sized ball as the Men as did the Div. 2 All- time Leader
PEARL MOORE; it's a case of Women's Basketball falling down on the Job
w/ less than professional Media Management & Historical Perspective &
Accuracy, and even if there's Little or No Racial under-current, the
Fact Ms. Woodard is Black is a "Bad Look";
it also hurts the great White players of that AIAW Era like Anne Donovan,
Nancy Lieberman, and Ann Meyers, but IOWA did a Great job of putting
the Spotlight on it, which I knew Ms. CLARK & Coach Bluder would do
Caitlin Clark and her Coach are too Smart & Versed on the History of the
Sport to not use their platform properly; Very Classy
@@_M....They are the same race lol, but I think the op might still have a point. Women’s basketball is on another planet now in terms of popularity, so more people are seeing Caitlyn do it than when Kelsey broke the record. And let’s be honest the fact that Caitlyn is white does contribute to her popularity, I think some of the backlash she gets is due to that fact. 🤔
Lynette Woodard you just jealous
Always gonna be some so called blacks uplifting and over praising the enemy.
we'd literally be on mars right now if not for you
You can bet if Catilin was black you would never had heard of her or Pearl Monroe, or all the other girls gym class or playground players who now have 5,000 points.
@renovo - 5000 Pts ???????
Name One!
@@pattibond2342anonymous girl I guess 😅
Her being white is big factor of why she is getting this attention but you would be insincere if you thought that was the biggest factor.
Pearl Moore played at a very small school. Those records cant be compared to the larger more competitive schools, genius. Theres a reason why no one disputes theres a significant difference in a small school vs D1. Maybe youre just not bright enough to use some critical thinking and logic...thats on you. I think you just want something to cry about.
