  • Ann demonstrates 5 ways to use darting on pottery to create more complex forms. If you listen closely, you can hear thunder in the background. This was obviously the Gods of Pottery expressing their approval for the creation of such a video. Its also a great relaxing video to watch!
    If you would like to learn Ann's underglaze painting, glazing, and decorating process then check out Ann's Video Workshop Series. These workshops are very detailed (typically 1.5 - 2 hours in length) where Ann provides step by step instruction and are designed to help potters take their work to new levels of craftsmanship and artistry. vimeo.com/showcase/6725318

    Love these dart ideas. Do you ever bevel your cuts? Your straight cuts seem easier, but the bevels don't seem to need a coil reinforcement. Curious. Also, you mentioned a potential future video to demonstrate the pitcher??? YES!! That would be awesome. Thank you.

    • @annruel9142
      @annruel9142 Před 2 lety +2

      Hi Tricia. I have seen the bevel that you are talking about but it is very difficult to do especially on curved surfaces. Also I think if I did bevel the surface I would still add a coil as my clay is so finicky. Thanks for the feedback about the pitcher. I wasnt sure if anyone would pick up on that in the video but I had a few others request it too. Have fun in the studio!

    Hi Ann! I've just discovered your CZcams channel and I am so so grateful. I will definitely be buying you coffees! I'm trying darting and have discovered that the rim is horribly misshapen. But how to put it back on the wheel if both the bottom and the top are uneven? Is the answer not to cut it off the bat after throwing?

    • @LittleStreetPottery
      @LittleStreetPottery  Před 4 měsíci

      If I understand our question, yes, I work on it while still attached to the bat. (or sometimes reattaching and using lugs) And of course you want to be cognizant of how hard the clay is...too soft and it is harder to maintain the roundness. I also dont get too hung up on having perfectly round pieces...I embrace the organic nature of the clay! Good luck - let me know how its progressing.

    • @annruel9142
      @annruel9142 Před 2 lety +4

      Hi Charly. Good question. I just think that the least amount of touching, fingering, tweaking, squishing etc (DNA from all the touching) is the best way to keep your work pristine, and fresh...... and not overworked. :-)
