  • Today's video is all about Kyle's baby hare that he is raising, Dave also talks a bit about why Kyle would care in the first place... as he is a falconer?

Fantastic video once again Dave , it's great to show and help people understand that falconers or fisherman or other game hunters are not blood thirsty loveless people but actually the opposite and do a great deal to maintain , campaign and support conservation of our beautiful natural landscape and the great habitants that live there. Well done Kyle .. keep up the good work and hope to see you soon

You are fully right. Eating a wild animal is the best. However pigs that have lived outside on a field or those that you keep inside an isolated area in the forest are also good. And keeping pigs in a forest, helps the forest to get even more diverse.

How do you contend with the Hares front claws? They self trim their rears but the front claws get large in captivity. There is no holding onto one of these critters when they dont want to be handled.

Kyle has "form" in this area, remember him nursing an orphaned Pidgeon to fledgling.
More seriously, Falconers and Anglers do good work in conservation. Here in Derbyshire, however, we've had a number of cases of Raptor persecution on Grouse shooting land. Often not proven and unpunished, but I know what Sherlock would think!

Absolutely gorgeous! I think I get it - I have pet rabbits, whom I love dearly, but I also eat rabbit (I believe caught as game as it’s from a farmer’s market game stall) on occasion. Some people don’t understand how I can do it, but my pet rabbits are pets and the game rabbits are food. My pets increase the respect and admiration I have for the game rabbits and make me more determined that, as a meat eater, I should be very aware of how the meat I eat is sourced. I’d much prefer to eat a game rabbit than one farmed in a metal cage.

Hi, I love your videos due to their common sense nature and your ability to speak plainly. Quick question, i'm drawing up plans for a female harris hawk mews that I plan to use for pest control as the company doesn't have anyone else in house. Would 1.5m x 4m x 2m be a big enough space? Also, I plan on (hopefully) being able to reverse moult her, so shes flying during the summer, as I understand it light and food are key things for this, but is temperature? would I have to put in removeable insulation into the mews for the winter and take it out for summer? I plan on doing the Raptor Award before getting a bird but thought i'd ask while im planning up the mews.
    thanks in advance

The mews will be fine 1.8m wife but certainly be more helpful as a minimum, yes a lot of our display birds catch up on the Moult, autumn onwards. Day length and putting on weight usually triggers moulting more than temp
